D.C. Law: Vaccination Without Parental Consent

Vaccination without parental consent is a D.C. law that was quietly put into effect last October. Now parents and other organizations are suing.

First the background.

Under the legislation, if a doctor determines that a minor is capable of informed consent, they would be able to seek government-recommended vaccinations their parents object to on religious grounds. They also could get vaccinated against the human papillomavirus — which is recommended for older children but opposed by some parents because the virus is sexually transmitted and they object to their teenagers having sex.

The bill, which was approved 12 to 1, requires that the doctor send the vaccination record in such cases to the child’s school, rather than to the parents, and seek compensation directly from the insurance company without involving the parents.

Love how The Washington Post frames this. It’s those pesky parents who have those icky religious exemptions, or don’t think their minor child should be sexually active, is the reason why this law was necessary.

The thing is, it’s much more than that. It’s about the fact that this law is irresponsible and dangerous for our kids. Why? Because a doctor they go to, who may not be their regular pediatrician so has ZERO knowledge of that child’s medical history, can arbitrarily decide if that child is ADULT enough for informed consent to getting a vaccination.

To me, that is totally irresponsible and dangerous. Why?

  • What if that child has an underlying medical condition?
  • What if the child is on meds that should preclude him or her from getting vaccinated unless there is full adult supervision due to known reactions?
  • How can a doctor, in a 15 min appointment, be certain an 11 yr old is adult enough to ask for and receive a vaccine?

Those are reasonable concerns. And, as city councilman Trayon White Sr stated, “For me, it’s not an issue of the vaccination. It’s an issue of the council voting to circumvent the inclusion of a parent making a decision about their child.”

Exactly. This law excludes the parent altogether on ANY vaccine, Covid or not, and other medical issues. Now D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and others are facing two lawsuits on this matter.

On Monday, four parents of children who attend or planned to enroll at D.C. public and charter schools sued Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) and other public officials, saying the law “subverts the right and duty of parents to make informed decisions about whether their children should receive vaccinations.”

It’s worthwhile to note that Bowser punted on the issue and, instead of signing or vetoing the legislation, she let it become D.C. law without comment.

You just know that these lawsuits are going to get the misinformation and disinformation treatment from the Biden Administration and Fauci.

“If you look at the extraordinary, historic success in eradicating smallpox and eliminating polio from most of the world. And we’re on the brink of eradicating polio. If we had had the pushback, for vaccines, the way we’re seeing on certain media, I don’t think it would have been possible, at all, to not only eradicate smallpox,” Fauci said. “We probably would still have smallpox. And we probably would still have polio in this country if we had the kind of false information that’s being spread, now. If we had that back, decades ago, I would be certain that we’d still have polio in this country.”

As our readers know, Biden had to walk back his “Facebook is killing people” commentary yesterday. Meanwhile Fauci, as noted above, is pushing the vaccines with all his might, and creating division while doing so. ‘Two Americas’…really now.

Keep in mind, this is what the D.C. law promotes:

The law allows children who have religious exemptions from vaccines, due to filed documents from their parents, to be immunized if they wish. Physicians would leave vaccine records blank and send the records directly to the child’s school without parents being notified. Vaccine providers also must receive payment from insurers without the knowledge of the child’s parents.

Keep the parent out of the loop altogether. That’s wrong on all levels in my opinion, religious exemptions or not.

One D.C. parent, who is part of the lawsuit, shows why this law is so problematic.

At MedStar, a doctor “coached [her] on lying in relation to receiving the shots,” according to the suit, which was filed July 2. When the teenager became nervous and decided not to get vaccinated, “the doctor and nurse positioned themselves in the room such that she felt trapped” before she was able to leave without receiving any vaccines.

The doctor and nurse should NOT have pressured that child into a vaccination once she indicated she had decided not to. The doctor made the decision AGAINST that child’s wishes and without parental knowledge.

This is a dangerous idea and law. In regards to Covid, what vaccine will the child receive? Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J?  What if the child has a reaction to the vaccine? It is well documented that people have had reactions of varying kinds after the second shot.

Can you imagine being a parent and your child is dealing with medical issues, but you have no idea why? Can you imagine how a parent would feel upon finally learning the issues are because of a vaccination given that the parents didn’t consent to?

Dear Biden Administration: you want vaccine hesitancy? It’s laws like this that contribute to vaccine hesitancy.
