Supreme Court Leak: You Say You Want a Revolution?

In 1968, the Beatles released “Revolution,” a song which vaguely extolled some sort of government overthrow as long as there was no violence. In 2022, we are now seeing such an attempt through the leaking of a Supreme Court document.

 

Tantrums from Progressives

Progressives who reacted to the leak apparently don’t remember that song, which includes this line:

“But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow” 

Maybe progressives weren’t carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, but they were throwing tantrums outside the Supreme Court building after the leak. Holding signs with the names of conservative justices, they chanted “fascist scum have got to go.” Others signs read, “F-CK SCOTUS,” and “Sam Alito Retire B-tch.”

And beating drums in the streets. What is it about these people and their overwhelming desire to pound a drum?

They also flocked to Tik Tok, where they cried about a return to a Handmaid’s Tale world or something.

Do progressives’ shenanigans convince any serious person as to the rightness of their cause? Will their antics spur a revolution? No. But Democrats and their media lapdogs could, and the leak shows the depths to which they will go.

 

Threatening the Supreme Court

Nina wrote about how Democrats quickly issued comments and talking points in order to destroy Republicans. Chuck Schumer in particular did not disappoint, blasting Trump (of course). But he also savaged the honorable justices Trump appointed, calling them liars who have “ripped up the Constitution.”

And now “devout Catholic” Joe Biden is calling to elect more liberal Senators and House members so that abortion can be codified into law.

At the federal level, we need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law.”

Gone are the days, apparently, when justices like the late Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader-Ginsburg could be on opposites sides of an issue, yet still respect one another and even form a deep friendship. Schumer and company make everything political.

This isn’t the first time Schumer has threatened members of the Supreme Court, either. In March, 2020, Schumer warned Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh that if they didn’t toe the liberal line on an abortion case, they would “pay the price.”

“I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Democrats have continued with fomenting a revolution by calling for court-packing. They’ve also called for Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself on cases because his wife is a conservative activist. NPR reported a lie about Neil Gorsuch, and even though the story was debunked, they stood by the fabrication. Leftists even successfully pressured liberal Justice Stephen Breyer to step down and make room for a Biden pick to ascend to the Supreme Court.

They will not rest until they achieve their revolution.

 

What Could the Leak Do to the Supreme Court?

Joe Cunningham at Red State writes that this leak is the biggest scandal in SCOTUS history. So did the court watchers at SCOTUSblog:

Cunningham notes:

“The leaking of the draft opinion, which is in no way the final decision of the Court but a good indicator of where it’s headed, marks the end of cordiality between judicial philosophies as exemplified by the friendship between Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia.”

While Sen. Lindsey Graham tweeted:

“It is a sad day for the Supreme Court and a dangerous day for the Rule of Law. The radical assault on our institutions and the Constitution itself has reached a new level with the release of a draft opinion on a major issue facing the Court.”

Steven Hayward at Powerline gives us the strategy behind the leak:

“A leak of the opinion is surely a desperate attempt to stir up a public firestorm (so the left hopes) that will cause a Justice to switch his or her vote at the last minute. (It also provides desperate Democrats with something to distract from inflation, crime, education, Biden’s senility, etc.) This suggests the Court’s vote was 5 – 4, likely with Roberts once again defecting. The media isn’t even trying to disguise the purpose of this leak.”

Naturally, left-leaning media activists are cheering on the leak, such as Ian Milhiser at Vox, who wrote:

“Seriously, shout out to whoever the hero was within the Supreme Court who said ‘f-ck it! Let’s burn this place down.”

Brian Fallon of Hillary Clinton’s campaign also cheered the revolution:

 

Cleaning Up in the Aftermath

So what to do now after this egregious leak?

Chief Justice John Roberts has called for an investigation, calling the leak a “betrayal of the confidences of the Court.”

Meanwhile, former US Attorney Andrew C. McCarthy wants the Supreme Court to issue its opinion stat:

“If this story is true, the Court should issue its opinion right away. Otherwise the disgraceful leak wins. I would say that if my side lost. If we lose the integrity of the Court’s process, we lose the Court. That should be intolerable to all of us who live the country.”

Whatever the outcome, we need to take note: this is the way progressivism works. Its footsoldiers adhere themselves not to God, nor to any code of ethics, but instead to a vision of themselves as the arbiters of morality. They will declare what that moral code is, and will use violence and subterfuge to achieve the power to do so. Progressives want to tear it all down — God help anyone standing in their way. It’s mob rule, plain and simple.

This was not just a leak. It’s an insurrection, a revolution on the part of progressives to undermine one of the three pillars of the government as described in the Constitution. They say they want a revolution, and they’ll stop at nothing to get one.

    Using these murderers logic that bringing an unwanted child into the world could doom them to being raised by a single parent, a life of poverty, mental illness due to being unwanted etc. etc. etc. then why should we allow homeless people to live. After all they made lifestyle choices that make them leeches on the rest of us, no one wants them living nearby, they ruin neighborhoods, destroy property values, mostly are drug users, spread disease, increase crime, many have mental issues etc., etc., etc. Seems a logical leap that would solve many problems.

      Careful, you’re beginning to sound like Margaret Sanger of Planned Parenthood; she was a eugenicist.

      For me the whole issue is a chicken-egg paradigm: if randy men and women bothered to use contraception then there would not be unwanted babies to abort. They claim abortion is a ‘RIGHT’, but they have the right to access and use contraception, which to me cancels out the so-called Right to casual abortion as just another lifestyle choice.
