In order to “preserve” free speech, the Department of Homeland Security has launched a Disinformation Governance Board.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified Wednesday that the Department of Homeland Security is creating a “Disinformation Governance Board” to combat misinformation ahead of the 2022 midterms.

Does that sound Orwellian to you? It sure as hell does to me. Exactly WHO will be determining what is and isn’t “misinformation” in the name of protecting free speech? An “expert” in disinformation at The Wilson Center is now in charge. 

Nina Jankowicz, who was a disinformation fellow at the Wilson Center and adviser to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry as part of the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship, confirmed a report Wednesday that she has been named executive director of the Department of Homeland Security’s new “Disinformation Governance Board.”

This is a person who has a problematic history of her own regarding disinformation and cheering the throttling of free speech. First, she still believes the Hunter Biden laptop story is Fake News. Secondly, she has continually touted Christopher Steele as a disinformation expert. 

Steele is perhaps best known in the United States for his anti-Trump dossier, which Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz concluded in December 2019 played a “central and essential” role in the FBI’s effort to obtain wiretap orders against former Trump campaign associate Carter Page.

Steele’s alleged main source, Igor Danchenko, was charged “with five counts of making false statements to the FBI,” which John Durham claims he made about the information he provided to Steele for his discredited dossier. Horowitz said FBI interviews with Danchenko “raised significant questions about the reliability of the Steele election reporting” and concluded that Danchenko “contradicted the allegations of a ‘well-developed conspiracy’ in” Steele’s dossier.

Yes, if you thought that name sounded familiar, it’s because it is. The Steele Dossier has been thoroughly discredited, yet the new person in charge of the DHS Disinformation Governance Board is still on board with the lies peddled by that dossier. And THIS is who is in charge of determining if someone’s free speech in the public square or on social media could be defined as disinformation??

The disinformation narrative has been brewing for weeks now. No, I take that back, it’s been brewing since Trump won the election in 2016. However, it’s more blatant now. Especially since Elon Musk, the WRONG kind of billionaire, has bought Twitter. 

Obama, king of disinformation and gaslighting himself, gloomily lectured the masses on how dangerous free speech is to our democracy. 

Obama will let us have free speech, as long as that free speech fits his identified and chosen narrative. 

In the last few days it’s been illuminating and alarming to discover how many people on the left are actual fans of restrictions on free speech. They absolutely 100% believe that allowing free speech to rein, and not censoring and banning those they disagree with is a threat. They’ve made it clear that they WANT people they disagree with censored or banned. To them, that’s the epitome of responsible free speech.

Here’s what they refuse to understand. Social media is today’s equivalent of the soap boxes in the town square. Anyone can jump on a soap box and spout their beliefs. However, no one has to stop and listen. They can just walk/scroll on by! Yet all the leftist Democrats believe that anyone who stops to disagree with them, or present facts that are counterintuitive to the narrative peddled from that soapbox, should be censored and banned. 

The fact that our government has now created a Disinformation Governance Board is a HUGE problem on a Constitutional level as well. 

The DHS has been working on creating this board over the last two years. They signaled some of the purpose last year, and with this report back in March. 

The assessment pointed to newer “sociopolitical developments such as narratives of fraud in the recent general election, the emboldening impact of the violent breach of the U.S. Capitol, conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and conspiracy theories promoting violence” that “will almost certainly spur some [domestic violent extremists] [sic] to try to engage in violence this year.”

The rioters and looting thugs AREN’T the ones labeled as domestic violent extremists. The folks who went into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, and who’ve had their Constitutional right to due process taken away from them…ARE. Anyone who has dared to question the left’s election, pandemic, or Covid narratives are labeled as dangerous. Everyone else who falls in line is applauded.

Per testimony on Capital Hill, Nina absolutely believes in social media censorship and praised Twitter’s 2020 election censorship such as the NY Post Hunter Biden laptop story.

“Disinformation is a threat to democracy,” she warned and criticized the government and social media platforms who have “all but abdicated their responsibility” to address ​”domestic​ disinformation.”

“Twitter is the best example of a platform moving in the right direction in this context, but the U.S. political environment would be better served by more transparency and equity around its enforcement of these measures,” she said.

The creation of this DHS Disinformation Board has, IMO, only one purpose. Wage war on our Constitutional right Free Speech.
