Twitter and social media clutched their pearls and scrambled for their fainting couches last night after President Trump posted an ALL CAPS tweet about Iran.
To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 23, 2018
And, boy howdy, the overreaction was, and still is, ramped up to full on Rutabaga DERP!
A tweet like this will likely precede a nuclear launch, if it comes. We live in horrific, deranged times. https://t.co/ZOitt9yyZg

And the media chimed in.
Joe, you need a new hairstylist. Just sayin’
Here’s the thing: Was this tweet out of the blue as so many thought? Nope. It was in response to this threat from Iran:
On Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned President Trump about escalating a confrontation with Iran, asserting that such an action would lead to the “mother of all wars.” Al Jazeera reported that Rouhani, referencing an idea that the U.S. might attempt to block Iran from exporting its crude oil, added, “Do not play with the lion’s tail or else you will regret it.”
Even Iran’s generals jumped into the fray:
Brig. Gen. Gholam Hossein Gheibparvar, head of the Revolutionary Guard’s paramilitary Basij force, said the United States “won’t dare” take military action against Iran, whose missiles can hit most of the Middle East. Iran also controls part of the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow passageway for all Persian Gulf oil tanker traffic.
So, yeah, context matters, folks. You see, as Deanna wrote here, the people of Iran are fostering rebellion against an oppressive terrorist regime that has been a cash cow for their billionaire leadership. In Iran, people are wanting the freedoms that were yanked out from under them more than 40 years ago. In Iran, the women want to throw off the oppressive hijab and are being tossed into prison or killed because of it. In Iran, the people would like running water and freedom of speech. Meanwhile, in the US, idiots like this heckler at Pompeo’s speech don’t get it:
Pompeo was speaking at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi, Calif. about the regime’s abuses at home and policies abroad when a woman began shouting slogans to the effect that “the Trump-Pence regime is kidnapping children.”
The audience, who had given Pompeo an enthusiastic reception, immediately broke into loud boos.
Pompeo waited, smiling patiently, as the yelling continued, and as the audience response morphed into chants of “U.S.A., U.S.A. …”
Then he said, “if there were only so much freedom of expression in Iran,” drawing more cheers before proceeding with his speech.
Maybe someday soon. But nooo…the billionaire terrorists running Iran into the ground want to keep their terrorism cash cows flowing and are gnashing their teeth that their people refuse to stay under their thumb. The Iranian leadership is also ticked off that the Trump Administration is pushing for other countries to join in on reimposing economic sanctions against Iran and cut off all oil imports from that country.
Want to bet that Iran is also ticked off that Trump won’t play like Obama did? They got a sweet deal from Obama and crew, and now President Trump has been working on dismantling it piece by piece. That has to really chap their hides, doesn’t it?
Iran issued veiled threats against the United States over the last couple of days. President Trump decided he wasn’t going to play. Quite honestly, given how corrupt and evil Iran is, that’s a good thing for us.
One would think the phrase “mother of all battles” wouldn’t be used by a regime that opposes the US in the Middle East.
Excuse me, misquoted – President Rouhani said “mother of all wars”. But I stand by my comment.
Pearls and fainting couches…oh my! They will need a time out in the safe space with a Tickle Me Elmo doll to show where TrumpHitlerSatan’s evil tweets hurt them! There’s a new sheriff in town, one who doesn’t believe in presiding over America’s decline or passing out airplane loads of money to the places like Iran.
