Somebody did something. That’s evidently what the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation wants us to believe. A new rule has been issued. Do NOT call 9/11 a terrorist attack.

Yes, it is a real directive issued by the Senior Director of Journalistic Standards and Trust at the CBC. 

This week, I received a memo — presumably confidential — addressed to CBC News staff. It is authored by one Basem Boshra, who is the “Senior Director of Journalistic Standards and Public Trust at CBC News.” In Boshra’s memo, reporters are editors are told this:

“Do not refer to the Sept. 11 attacks as terrorist attacks.”

Boshra states that all in bold letters, italicized, as if to emphasize the point. To make clear it is a directive, not a suggestion.

It goes on. “The hijackings led to passenger jet crashes,” it reads, again in italics. There is no recognition in the CBC memo — none — that “hijacking that leads to passenger jet crashes” is not a protest, or a vote. It is a terrorist act, full stop.

“Passenger jet crashes”  Read that again. 9/11 according to Basem Boshra should not and must not be described as a terrorist attack. Only a ‘passenger jet crash.’

A passenger jet crash is Captain Sully having to ditch the plane in the Hudson River. A passenger jet crash is NOT having passengers take over planes, kill pilots, and then purposefully fly the planes into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. 

What those “passengers” did was the very definition of terrorism. 

The Encyclopedia Britannica people define it this way: “Terrorism is the calculated use of violence, or the threat of violence, to create general fear in a population and coerce a government or society to achieve political, religious, or ideological goals.”

By any reasonable and objective standard, that is what happened nearly 25 years ago, on September 11, 2001: Terrorism.

On that terrible day, four airplanes were hijacked by 19 terrorists. They piloted two of those planes into New York City’s World Trade Center, destroying both buildings and murdering 2,753 innocent people. Two dozen of them were Canadians.

A third plane hit the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. There, 125 people were slain — military and civilian. The 59 people on board the hijacked American Airlines flight were also killed.

A fourth plane, a United Airlines flight, slammed into a field in Pennsylvania after the hostages attempted to seize control from the four terrorists. Thirty-seven passengers and seven crew members were murdered.

I’m so angry right now I could throw things.

THREE THOUSAND people were murdered on that day. THREE THOUSAND. 

And what does the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation do mere weeks before the 25th Anniversary of this terrorist attack? Direct the newsrooms to refer to planes flying into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon as …. “passenger jet crashes” as if what happened was just a little accident. 

By issuing this directive, the media and far too many politicians are continuing a pattern of renaming something so certain people and groups don’t get their shorts in a knot. As Rick Moran points out at PJ Media, this is the same thought process in which the footage of 9/11 was taken down across the media because people might be traumatized and Muslims would be insulted. 

Horseshit. 

What Basem Boshra and the rest of the Canadian Broadcasting executives are doing is rewriting history to fit their ideology. That is wrong on every level. 

Terrorists hijacked four planes. Two flew into the Twin Towers. One flew into the Pentagon. The fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania because the innocent passengers fought back. 

Not one single one of those planes just innocently took a wrong turn. All four of those planes were hijacked. 

Three thousand people were murdered that day. 

By TERRORISTS.

It is one hell of an insult to the families of the victims, to the survivors, and to all the First Responders who ran into the burning towers, a building, and a field. 

Families and survivors have been waiting for nearly 25 years for justice and what does the CBC do? Rewrites history by claiming it wasn’t terrorism, it was just a simple passenger jet crash. 

Basem Boshra and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation have shown their true colors. They are apologists for terrorists.
