Politico is really worried about conflicts of interest. But only when it involves CERTAIN Supreme Court justices and their spouses.

A year after Amy Coney Barrett joined the Supreme Court, the boutique Indiana firm SouthBank Legal opened its first-ever Washington office in Penn Quarter, a move the firm hailed in a 2021 press release as an “important milestone.”

The head of the office, Jesse M. Barrett, is the justice’s husband, whose work is described by the firm as “white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and complex commercial litigation.”

SouthBank Legal — which lists fewer than 20 lawyers — has boasted clients across “virtually every industry”: automobile manufacturers, global banks, media giants, among others. They have included “over 25 Fortune 500 companies and over 15 in the Fortune 100,” according to the firm’s website.

But if anyone wants to find out whether Jesse Barrett’s clients have a direct interest in cases being decided by his wife, they’re out of luck. In the Supreme Court’s notoriously porous ethical disclosure system, Barrett not only withholds her husband’s clients, but redacted the name of SouthBank Legal itself in her most recent disclosure.

Politico, of course, also dives into the conflicts of interest involving Jane Roberts and Ginni Thomas. Jane Roberts has been doing this for a long time and because Supreme Court justices have been wined and dined, there’s a THERE THERE somewhere in all of that. 

Ginni Thomas is definitely one to watch according to Politico. Especially when it involves her supposed nefarious activities related to January 6. Today, she voluntarily gave her testimony before the committee.

Her opening statement made things very clear as to her role, Justice Clarence Thomas’s role, and any possible conflict of interest involved. Hint, there is none.

Read the whole thread. However, if you believe what the media is peddling, Ginni Thomas is a major Trump co-conspirator! They are running that narrative with all their might. 

You see, spouses of Supreme Court justices along with the Justices themselves aren’t allowed to have jobs, nor have a social life. By doing so, this gives far too much power to a power-addled Supreme Court whose had the audacity to rule against the leftist narratives this summer. 

Politico willfully ignores the real and potential conflicts of interest pertaining to many DC Swamp Critters. Here are two very recent examples. 

Dr. Anthony Fauci and his wife, Christine:

Dr. Anthony Fauci and his wife’s net worth grew by $5 million during the COVID-19 pandemic as thousands of US residents struggled financially, according to a government spending watchdog group.

The combined wealth of the 81-year-old retiring director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and his bioethicist wife, Christine Grady, soared from $7.5 million in 2019 to $12.6 million at the end of 2021, according to a report from the non-profit OpenTheBooks.

There’s a conflict of interest? Why yes, there very likely is. Why? Christine is a bioethicist at the National Institute of Health. She isn’t retiring just yet, but I bet her golden parachute will be as lucrative as Fauci’s is. Yet we are supposed to believe that there is nothing to worry about as their ethics are above reproach?  Yeah….pull the other leg. 

White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain and his wife, Monica Medina. 

It seems she landed a cushy new job today. Evidently we needed a ‘diplomat for animals and plants.’ I kid you not. Despite the fact that we already have diplomats in that role within the Fish and Game agency, Forest, Agriculture, etc, a new NEW job has been created because climate change or some such bullshit. 

The Washington Post wrote a glowing review of this new job. And left one teeny tiny detail out of the entire story. What was that? 

In the paper’s “Climate 202” newsletter, the Post reported that State Department official Monica Medina was being appointed to a brand-new position as the “special envoy for biodiversity and water resources,” something the Post dubbed “a diplomat for plants and animals,” without mentioning she’s the wife of White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain. It later did after criticism grew online.

Yes, you read that correctly. She’s currently working in the State Department. Which leads to this comment.

And she keeps her State Department position. So unless this new position is unpaid (BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA), it’s a double dip. Neato!

Of course, what Politico and the rest of the left wants is for Supreme Court Justices and their spouses to A. have no political views unless it suits the left, and B. restrict spouses from working anywhere near or within the D.C. Swamp, unless it helps the left win the day. 

Justice Antonin Scalia had a thing or two to say about conflicts of interest and recusal for political reasons. 

“While the political branches can perhaps survive the constant baseless allegations of impropriety that have become the staple of Washington reportage, this court cannot,” the late justice wrote. “The people must have confidence in the integrity of the justices, and that cannot exist in a system that assumes them to be corruptible by the slightest friendship or favor, and in an atmosphere where the press will be eager to find foot-faults.”

Given Politico’s concerns, they will be publishing an in-depth breakdown of the  Fauci’s as well as the Klain’s potential conflicts of interest sometime later today, right? Don’t hold your breath. The left will always protect their own.
