WAR DID NOT BREAK OUT UNTIL MORE THAN HALFWAY THROUGH THAT PERIOD, in 1775. And when it did, it broke out because of thuggishness and the violation of rights by the British Parliament and Crown by dint of their military occupation in New England extending to weapon confiscation.

The VAST MAJORITY OF THE REST OF THIS PERIOD, 1760ish-1775, was spent with the Founders seeking PEACEFUL REDRESS OF THEIR GRIEVANCES WITH THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT, past things such as the Intolerable Acts, the start of military occupation in Boston, the Boston Massacre, the first waves of media censorship and weapon confiscations, and so on. They wrote, they spoke, they agitated, they smuggled, they prepared, and they armed while they appealed to both Heaven and King George III, Unfortunately, only Heaven was amenable to listen.

“…let it begin here!” We are at the breaking point. We have put up and suffered for more than a decade and a half with this kind of nonsense. We can yield no more without being utterly undone, and it is better to die as free men than to live as colonial serfs under military occupation. Not that we’d likely live long under those circumstances anyway, given the rampant risk of having our homes burned down by Amerindian raiding parties or French or Spanish attackers anyway, with our family being shot or sent into slavery while our skulls are split by a tomahawk.

THAT IS WHAT IS MEANT by how we are in a Second American Revolution, and it will be as bloodless as YOU allow it to be, just as the First American Revolution was as s bloodless or bloody as King George and people like Grenville and other self-righteous, hypocritical moralists trying to impose their will on a free people allowed it to be.

And I’m not even a FAN of Bannon’s, not really. I hadn’t even heard of Kevin Roberts (and I imagine neither have you) before this, though I did hear of the Heritage Foundation and have mixed feelings about them. BUT SO WHAT?!?! Thomas Paine was a far left radical who increasingly ranted about how the American Revolution wasn’t a “True Revolution” and glorified the Reign of Terror until he was arrested and nearly bisected. There are far more moral objections to be made to him than there are to Kevin Roberts.

But that didn’t mean that Thomas Paine couldn’t see many of the problems with British America under military occupation or with the Hanoverian Regime as a whole, and give a pithy prognosis of what was wrong. One you cannot even ATTEMPT to contest.

The First American Revolution could have been bloodless, or at least nearly bloodless. It could have ended with the Union Jack still flying in Boston and Richmond and the rest. But it was primarily inflexibility, arrogance, and self-righteous hypocrisy that came to a head at Lexington Green and proved that it would not end bloodlessly.
