The freakout of the climate change alarmists over the idea that President Trump will yank the United States out of the Paris Accord has been epically Sad! Visit Twitchy here, here, here, and here for a sampling of the hysteria. Then there is this gem from NYC:
Bill de Blasio plans to make NYC a sanctuary city (for Paris climate deal). Yes, they're that insane. https://t.co/ATht8A3JDL

We’ve written about the Paris Accord many times including here, here, and here. Keep in mind folks, Obama spent his entire 8 years in office touting the imagined dangers of climate change while blatantly ignoring the very REAL dangers of terrorism.
On the campaign trail it was evident that President Trump was listening. He promised he would remove the United States from a deal that was economically, fiscally, and politically unsound for this country. Today, he did just that.

I am outraged at @POTUS decision to withdraw from #ParisAgreement. It's dumb, dangerous & puts us at odds w/ allies. https://t.co/AQhHGJXQjN pic.twitter.com/bNBVNQimkP

Good question. But more importantly: billions of grandkids will have to live with this decision, however it lands. Think of them, please. https://t.co/mEFY1dKm1w

I’m not. As Kim pointed out in her post, the Paris Treaty should’ve been presented to Congress for review and ratification. But it wasn’t. Why? Because Obama knew that Congress wouldn’t agree. So he signed it, and we got stuck with it.
Not only that, but this Accord called for the following:
The agreement calls on countries to aim to limit global warming to “well below” 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit from pre-industrial levels, and it said countries should “pursue efforts” to keep temperature increases to 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit. Under a business as usual scenario, global temperatures could rise by between 4.7 degrees Fahrenheit and 8.6 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century, according to the United Nations, an increase that would have catastrophic consequences. [Emphasis Added]
I’ve a question for the climate green weenie crowd. If we are supposed to reduce our warming to pre-industrial levels…wouldn’t that mean that we’d have to go back to our horse and buggy days? Because guys – that’s what PRE-INDUSTRIAL means!
Again, Obama signed it rather than let Congress review it and decide if it was something the US should be involved with. He did so knowing that very few on EITHER side of the aisle supported this mess.
The Paris Accord is a bad deal for Americans, and @POTUS' action today is keeping his promise to put American workers first. pic.twitter.com/YfbnaymerP

So, the Constitutional aspect of this treaty had immense negative ramifications for this entire country.
This morning, via Ace of Spades and courtesy of Andrew McCarthy, I found out about the Treaty of Treaties or the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties.
Under Article 18 of the treaty on treaties, once a nation signs a treaty — or merely does something that could be interpreted as “express[ing] its consent to be bound by the treaty” — that nation is “obliged to refrain from acts which would defeat the object and purpose of the treaty.”
In other words, the Constitution notwithstanding, once a presidential administration signs or otherwise signals assent to the terms of an international agreement, the United States must consider itself bound – even though the Senate has not approved it, even though it has not been ratified.
Yes, you read that correctly. Because Obama stomped all over the Constitution and ignored Congress by signing this Paris Accord, the United States was stuck. Our only options were to suck it up and watch us wither economically, or have President Trump boot the Paris Accord out the door.
President Trump put the interests of the United States and our Constitution ahead of a politically and economically onerous agreement and that’s a good thing. Unless you are a climate scientist/alarmist/celebrity of course.
Last year was the warmest since records began in the 19th century, as global average temperatures continued a rise dating back decades that scientists attribute to greenhouse gases.
They warned that U.S. withdrawal from the deal could speed up the effects of global climate change, worsening heat waves, floods, droughts and storms.
Well guys…you’ve been promising that for decades. And yet nothing has happened. With that, I’ll leave you with this from Instapundit genius Glenn Reynolds.
I’LL BELIEVE THERE’S A CLIMATE CRISIS WHEN THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP TELLING ME THERE’S A CLIMATE CRISIS START ACTING LIKE THERE’S A CLIMATE CRISIS
