For once Nancy Pelosi got something right. She and the Congressional delegation traveling with her are in Taiwan right now despite continued threats from China.
Believe me, I’m NOT a fan of Nancy Pelosi and quite frankly never will be. Yet ONCE in a great while, even a disliked politician gets something right. In this instance, it’s her visit to Taiwan. It wasn’t a publicly announced visit, and in fact, it was one of the worst kept secrets over the last two weeks. China issued multiple threats and I’m sure they thought Pelosi would cave, because she marches in lockstep with the Biden Administration, who is pretty much owned by China at this point (paging Hunter and Joe).
However, Taiwan has been a significant ally and defender of freedom for themselves and the world for decades now. China wants to take over and destroy those freedoms, as we’ve documented multiple times in recent years.
Thus, while speculation ran rampant as to ‘will she, or won’t she?’ the White House scrambled madly and spun badly. China’s propaganda guru issued a direct threat via Twitter about shooting her plane down.
“If US fighter jets escort Pelosi’s plane into Taiwan, it is [an] invasion,” tweeted Hu Xijin, a columnist for the Chinese Communist Party-controlled Global Times. “The [People’s Liberation Army] has the right to forcibly dispel Pelosi’s plane and the US fighter jets, including firing warning shots and making tactical movement of obstruction.
“If ineffective, then shoot them down,” Hu added.
What did WH spokeswoman Karinne Jean-Pierre have to say about that threat? Essentially that she has no idea what anyone is talking about. REALLY not a good look for her! Meanwhile National Security Council spokesman John Kirby shoved both feet in his mouth, dissed Nancy, and threw Taiwan under the bus.

Fools and liars abound in the Biden Administration. Meanwhile, China was emboldened to issue more threats of retaliation, political or otherwise.
Well, kudos to Nancy Pelosi and the Congressional delegation. They landed in Taiwan and issued the following statement.

Nancy also had an op-ed written in advance of her visit, which the Washington Post published shortly after she landed in Taiwan.
The CCP’s brutal crackdown against Hong Kong’s political freedoms and human rights — even arresting Catholic Cardinal Joseph Zen — cast the promises of “one-country, two-systems” into the dustbin. In Tibet, the CCP has long led a campaign to erase the Tibetan people’s language, culture, religion and identity. In Xinjiang, Beijing is perpetrating genocide against Muslim Uyghurs and other minorities. And throughout the mainland, the CCP continues to target and arrest activists, religious-freedom leaders and others who dare to defy the regime.
We cannot stand by as the CCP proceeds to threaten Taiwan — and democracy itself.
Indeed, we take this trip at a time when the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy.
As Pelosi and the rest of the Congressional delegation meet with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen and the legislature on Wednesday, China issued yet another sternly worded warning/threat.
Pelosi’s visit has enraged China, which for years has sought to diplomatically isolate the island and views such exchanges with high-level foreign dignitaries as support for Taiwanese independence. The Chinese Communist Party claims Taiwan, a self-governing democracy that is home to 23 million people, as its territory despite never having ruled it. Chinese leader Xi Jinping has pledged to “reunify” Taiwan with China by force if necessary.
In a statement released just after Pelosi landed in Taipei, China’s Foreign Ministry said it “firmly opposed and severely condemned” the trip.
“Her visit to Taiwan in whatever form and for any reason is a major political provocation. China will not accept this,” it said, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
Needless to say, while I’m sure Pelosi and the rest are being told to stay on alert due to China’s threats and tantrums, the very fact that this visit DID happen is huge in terms of championing freedom around the world.
Nancy Pelosi got one thing right, she called China’s bluff. While the rest of the idiots at the Biden White House waffled and sputtered, Nancy Pelosi decided Taiwan and freedom were more important than China’s threats.
Of course, the White House will figure out a way to F**K things up Joe Biden style, but for the moment, I can only applaud Nancy Pelosi and the Congressional delegation for thumbing their nose at China and standing for Taiwan IN Taiwan.

I’m not ready to give Nancy any credit for this, most likely more of a happy coincidence. I don’t for the slightest second believe that she is there for any purpose other than to enrich herself, so I’m sure that she’s got some scam to make cash for her and her husband as the purpose of this trip, and just didn’t care whatever consequences might occur.
That being aid, it’s still more independence from the CCP than bought and paid for Joe has..
This is an act of gross stupidity, of rank recklessness. What China does in response will determine the fate of the world.
Besides provoking China, the US is also stirring the pot in Kosovo.
Paging Mr. Chamberlain – will Mr. Neville Chamberlain please pick up a courtesy phone to receive his new orders from the Reich?
The clown show continues. First, the President–not the Speaker of the House–is charged with running foreign affairs. Second, I can understand why San Fran Nan–who cares far more about partisan politics than the good our our country–would launch her own foreign policy to jerk Trump around. But in what bizarre world does the Speaker of the House launch a foreign policy initiative that makes the White House look even stupider than normal?
Either the White House endorsed her trip to Taiwan or or she was acting independently. If the White House endorsed the trip, it’s behaving quite foolishly by trying to wave her off. If it didn’t, Nancy is behaving quite recklessly.
Once China threatened the US, Biden had no choice but to let her proceed, because Biden would look like an even bigger than normal pussy if he called off her trip. But we’re certainly pulling the wildcat’s tail by picking an unnecessary fight while looking like incompetent morons.
I would have some respect if Biden had announced that he was sending Nancy to Taiwan as a gesture of commitment to our ally. But that’s not what happened. Nancy apparently went on her own and Biden neither supported her nor told the Air Force not to deliver her to Taiwan. Instead, he sends out Kirby (who looks smart only when standing next to Jean-Pierre) to sell out Taiwan.
Like the admiral played by Fred Thompson said in the “Hunt for Red October” said: “This business will get out of control. It’ll get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.”
Hmmm….Methinks this is political theater….for which the ticket price will be high for us Americans.
