File this one under “even the media is admitting it now.” Kamala Harris is a terrible vice president.

For anyone who watched the 2020 Democrat primaries, it was pretty obvious that Kamala Harris really was an awful candidate. She came across as fake (remember her “seeing her bus for the first time” moment?), and then tried to put the beat down on Joe Biden right out of the gate by calling him a racist during the debate. Later, once she was asked about why she had done that, she gave her fake laugh and said, “it was a debate!”

When Kamala Harris dropped out of the race, the postmortems of her campaign all followed the same lines: “uneven campaigner,” a poorly run campaign with “no discipline.” And yet, thanks to the color of her genitalia, Joe Biden decided that Kamala Harris should be his vice president, which meant, to the media, that she was now the best thing since sliced bread because the goal was to beat the Bad Orange Man, not vet the potential vice president. And there was a LOT to vet.

However, once the goal of beating Trump was met, Democrats soon realized they had a problem. They had tied themselves to a senile old man and an insincere cackling chameleon. The poll numbers tell the story. No one is happy with Joe Biden as president, but having Kamala Harris as vice president could be a whole lot worse.

Just how much worse? Well, CNN decided to publish a piece on Sunday about just how “dysfunctional” Harris and her staff are. And as many noted, if CNN is saying this OUT LOUD, and having none other than JIM ACOSTA cover the story on the air, then… you know it’s bad.

Worn out by what they see as entrenched dysfunction and lack of focus, key West Wing aides have largely thrown up their hands at Vice President Kamala Harris and her staff — deciding there simply isn’t time to deal with them right now, especially at a moment when President Joe Biden faces quickly multiplying legislative and political concerns.”

The exasperation runs both ways. Interviews with nearly three dozen former and current Harris aides, administration officials, Democratic operatives, donors and outside advisers — who spoke extensively to CNN — reveal a complex reality inside the White House. Many in the vice president’s circle fume that she’s not being adequately prepared or positioned, and instead is being sidelined. The vice president herself has told several confidants she feels constrained in what she’s able to do politically. And those around her remain wary of even hinting at future political ambitions, with Biden’s team highly attuned to signs of disloyalty, particularly from the vice president.”

But, with many sources speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the situation more frankly, they all tell roughly the same story: Harris’ staff has repeatedly failed her and left her exposed, and family members have often had an informal say within her office. Even some who have been asked for advice lament Harris’ overly cautious tendencies and staff problems, which have been a feature of every office she’s held, from San Francisco district attorney to US Senate.”

The CNN piece goes on to talk about how Biden, who was repeatedly tasked with duties by Obama when he was vice president, wanted to do the same with Kamala Harris. Thus, we get the handing off of the border crisis and is told to chair the National Space Council. As you can see from the state of the southern border and how she dodged it, and her excessively cringey video with child actors talking about space exploration, these have not been winning moments for Kamala. Politico EU then piled on, criticizing Harris’s recent trip to France.

The bottom line is that as Democrats come to the realization that old Grandpa Brandon over there is a one-term president (even if he runs again), they have also realized that Kamala Harris is certainly not presidential material, either. And this is starting to pop up in more obvious ways from Team Biden, who just passed over giving Kamala Harris a major role in implementing the infrastructure bill, and gave it to… Mitch Landrieu of Louisiana?

This immediately catapulted Landrieu, the former mayor of New Orleans during Hurricane Ida, into the attention of the pundit class as possible presidential material in 2024. That has to annoy Harris a lot.

Well, the CNN and Politico stories, plus the sudden Mitch Landrieu chatter, must have set the backchannels off between the Biden staff and the Harris staff, because White House press secretary Jen Psaki was forced to do damage control on a Sunday night after 9 pm Eastern.

For anyone who needs to hear it. @VP is not only a vital partner to @POTUS but a bold leader who has taken on key, important challenges facing the country—from voting rights to addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband.

Super Psaki to the rescue? Hardly. This attempt at damage control is being seen for what it is – an attempt to smooth things over between the staffs of Biden and Harris – but what is happening behind the scenes there that would cause Psaki to have to tweet this out past bedtime on a Sunday night? And broadband? Really?? *snort*

If a reliable Democrat media ally like CNN is willing to put this story out there, then things are probably even worse at the White House than even CNN is willing to admit. The Democrats are in full panic mode after the elections, and they are still watching the Biden and Harris poll numbers drop. The only question is, how low can those numbers go?
