Covid Tests Mailed To Your Home, Eventually

Want a Covid test? You can have one mailed to your home says the Biden Administration! In the midst of the media and politicians yelling at the sky about the Omicron variant, this should be great news! Except there’s a catch. Several of them.

The fear-mongering from the media and especially the Biden Administration is unprecedented. As Darleen notes here, this winter will be a hellscape and the Biden Administration is ordering us to panic, and zoom around blaming the unvaccinated for this current Omicron crisis.

Keep in mind that just two weeks ago, Biden said there was no need for people to order up at-home Covid tests, and that the Administration wasn’t going to do anything.

Oh, but that was two weeks ago. NOW, it’s an entirely different story. The demand for in-home tests is causing issues.

“As the nation experiences a surge in COVID-19 cases coinciding with the holidays, we are seeing unprecedented demand for testing services,” Alexandra Brown, a Walgreens spokeswoman, said in a statement to The Washington Post. “Due to the incredible demand for at-home rapid testing, we put in effect a four item purchase limit on at-home COVID-19 testing products in our stores and digital properties in an effort to help improve inventory while we continue to work diligently with our supplier partners to best meet customer demands.”

Matthew Blanchette, a CVS spokesperson, said in a statement emailed to The Post that the company is working “around the clock to provide our stores with inventory” of the five at-home kits it offers, days before Christmas.
“In the event a store experiences a temporary shortage, our teams have a process in place to rapidly replenish supply,” he said. “Due to a recent surge in demand, and to retain community-based access to tests in our stores, there may be temporary out-of-stocks for these products on CVS.com.”

Quite honestly, the demand is outstripping the supply,, and test manufacturers are likely doing their best to catch up during on-going supply chain issues. That said, I have a question. States were given MILLIONS of dollars to prep for this pandemic. Which should mean that states have laid in tests, supplies, ventilators, PPE and more…right? Then how come this new rollout by the Biden Administration includes all of that??

Let’s look at the grand announcement regarding the in-home tests. As the Administration reminds us, over 73% of Americans are vaccinated. Yet there are multiple reports over the last two months of thousands of break-thru cases. Which includes a significant number of politicians, sports figures, actors, etc.

So, the news of these tests being mailed out to everyone is a welcome Christmas present. These tests will arrive on doorsteps ASAP…right? WRONG.

This Omicron variant is so serious and so dangerous that the Biden Administration is waiting until JANUARY.

President Joe Biden will announce a plan on Tuesday to distribute 500 million free at-home rapid tests to Americans beginning in January as part of an attempt to double down on the spread of a transmissible variant that has hit the U.S. distressingly close to the holidays.

Biden’s new efforts come as the omicron variant became the most dominant COVID strain in the country Monday, accounting for nearly three-quarters of all cases, and just as travel kicks off at nearly pre-pandemic levels for the holiday season.

As I noted above, there are several catches to this grand plan. One, tests won’t be available until January. Then there are TWO other problems with this.

People will use a new website to order their tests, which will then be sent to them by U.S. mail.

When I read that, I started laughing. First of all, if someone wants a test, they’ll have to navigate a brand spanking new website to place their order.

Oh I totally remember how much of a disaster the Obamacare website roll out was. It took MONTHS if not YEARS for the Obama Administration to fix the issues. Yet, the Biden Administration continues to persist in bringing in the old and touting it as new! How much money will this website cost? How much are those tests going to cost? How much time will be wasted as people try to navigate an unworkable website?

The second part of this issue is, sending the tests out by U.S. Mail? Will it be priority mail so it can, at least, be tracked?? I doubt that.

Exactly! Here in northern Colorado, I can count at least fifteen instances where mail sent to me or others via USPS since September, including priority mail, is still out there… somewhere. Furthermore, will those employed by the USPS be happy to have an additional burden placed on them? Given their push back regarding the vaccine mandates, I’d say they won’t be fans of this decision.

But this is super serious everyone! Omicron is SO serious that everyone will get their own in-home Covid tests, eventually. The sense of urgency here is AMAZING.
