AOC needs a history lesson. This time, it’s about The American Revolution. According to this genius, and I use that term VERY loosely, the Revolution was a fight against those nasty billionaires. Yes, really.
“Squad” member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is under fire for radically rewriting history by claiming the American Revolution was all about fighting against “billionaires” — similar to the fight she and other fellow socialists are waging on capitalism.
“The American Revolution was against the billionaires of their time, and we are declaring independence from such an extreme marriage of wealth and the state,” claimed a clueless Ocasio-Cortez during an appearance Friday at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics with longtime Democrat strategist David Axelrod.
As you can see here, AOC tap dances around the fact that there are “good” and “bad” billionaires.
Evidently it’s a “red herring” to insert morality issues when talking about Alex Soros or Oprah Winfrey vs Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos and his “hobby newspaper.”
Her comments about The American Revolution however, are historically and factually wrong.

As a great many are pointing out, a significant number of our Founding Fathers were wealthy businessmen, merchants, and landowners. Many of them went bankrupt funding the American Revolution. Some of them died destitute.

He was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence
His main competition was Robert Morris, who also signed the Declaration.
AOC is embarrassing.
Not a one of them were fighting against a billionaire. They and all the American soldiers including relatives of mine, were fighting for freedom against a KING.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.–Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

Our Declaration of Independence, the greatest breakup letter of all time, laid it out very clearly. The American Revolution wasn’t about fighting against a billionaire. It was about kicking a tyrannical KING to the curb. It was about gaining the freedom to make their own decisions and laws concerning the welfare of the citizenry around them. It was about ensuring EVERYONE has a voice, and no one has the right to refuse that voice to be heard. It was, and is, about ensuring no one individual, party, or King can pack a court to get the judgements and rulings they want, which is something today’s Democrats desperately want to do.
All of which is something that AOC of the “No Kings” crowd refuses to acknowledge.
This Republic wasn’t predicated upon fighting against billionaires. It was built on going up against a KING and fighting for Freedom.
However, according to some, we are too dumb to know that AOC is the smartest one in the room.

We know that she has large following of low information voters that are easily influenced . It’s her superpower.
I find it amazing that she gets away with it but then again nobody’s fact checking anything she says.
She’s extreme, and plays the gaslighting game very well.Thus, we are calling her out on her historical inaccuracy.
Others also noted that George Washington and some other Founding Fathers were among the wealthiest in the colonies. In fact, Washington himself was worth the equivalent of nearly $600 million in today’s money.
“No, AOC, the American Revolution was NOT ‘against the billionaires of their time,’” said US Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah). “It was against a large, distant, overly intrusive government that recognized no limits over its own authority to tax, regulate, and eat out the substance of the citizens it claimed to serve.”
If a 9th grader writes this on her history test, she gets an F.

Dear AOC. I’ll be blunt. The American Revolution 250 years ago was NOT about billionaires. Our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, their FORTUNES, and their sacred honor in an effort to overthrow a tyrannical King and government. If you actually READ the Declaration of Independence, you’d know that.
