Eric Swalwell’s fall from grace has been swift and brutal. He certainly didn’t help matters with his denial wrapped around an apology to his wife.
His senior campaign and Congressional office staffers are livid, and are working overtime to distance themselves from their boss.
Meanwhile, there is now an active sexual assault investigation in NYC
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has opened a sex assault probe into California Rep. Eric Swalwell after explosive reports emerged accusing the congressman of assaulting a former staffer in NYC.
In a statement Saturday, DA Alvin Bragg’s office encouraged victims to come forward.
“We urge survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations to contact our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,” a DA spokesperson said in a statement to The Post.
Now, more and more details are coming to light. And they aren’t pretty. In fact, they are beyond sleazy.
Meanwhile, his attorney is blaming backroom “political machinations.”
Swalwell attorney says that Swalwell intends to continue his campaign for governor.

He suspects “political machinations behind the scenes” in the Democrat party as the reason why so many have pulled their support.
Sounds like Swalwell plans on dragging this thing out. pic.twitter.com/eEfyBaODMm
Does tanking Swalwell’s career make room for Katie Porter to rise to the top? Maybe. She’s toting around her own baggage though and, if I were her, I wouldn’t get to comfortable as it’s highly likely her rage fests against her ex-husband and staffers will once again get more airplay.
Swalwell himself, has no actual home in California and is currently holed up in a billionaire’s home. In fact, it’s looking quite clear that his finances are non-existent save for what he “earns” as a candidate.
The congressman, who previously worked as a prosecutor in Alameda County, had at least $80,000 in credit card and student loan debt as of last summer, along with a home loan for a property in Washington, DC, valued between $1 million and $5 million, according to economic disclosures he filed.
Meanwhile, his assets included a Bank of America account with as little as $15,000 and a small public pension valued between $1,001 and $15,000.
Swalwell’s reported stake in AI company Findraiser, which has been accused of aggressively courting business in a manner that may violate House ethics laws, was valued between $250,000 and $500,000.
The technology may be a tougher sell with Swalwell under criminal investigation.
Swalwell, who has claimed to rent a room in Livermore to establish residency in California, now could be on the hook for legal fees to defend himself if a case moves forward.
The Post visited Swalwell’s home in Livermore last month and found an empty cottage cheese container on the lawn, and none of his neighbors could recall having ever seen him.
With money tight, Swalwell’s past campaigns have offered a lifeline for his family, as he spent $244,000 in campaign funds on childcare from 2019 through 2025, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Swalwell and his wife Brittany — whom he apologized to in his denial video Friday — have three young children.
A source familiar with the congressman’s financial history told The Post that Swalwell’s money situation may be what’s driving his refusal to heed calls for him to end his campaign and resign from Congress.
“He has no backup,” the source said. “I really think so much of this is about a financial path forward.”
The information regarding his financial situation makes one wonder where his $174,000 Congressional salary is going.
That said, we are now getting statements from people who have known about Swalwell’s sleaziness for years.
…so what you’re admitting here is that for 13 years, neither yourself, not anyone else in the local Democrat party decided to speak out on this or do any reporting whatsoever on his behavior towards women?
— Matt Van Swol (@mattvanswol) April 12, 2026
Is that what you are saying here?
He’s known about this for over thirteen years and said NOTHING??!!
We can run down the halls screaming Trump is a rapist all day long but the second a democrat threatens litigation I'm sorry we can't report this.

Steven’s excuses on this are weak. The reality is, he’s bragging about what he knew and thinks he should be given a pass for keeping Swalwell’s sleaziness under wraps for thirteen years.
Meanwhile, some Democrats are now calling for his ouster from Congress.
Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) on Saturday became the first House Democrat to call on Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) to resign after the latter was accused of sexual misconduct.
“I’ve seen enough. With his nuanced statement aimed at defending likely criminal charges, Swalwell all but admits a per se abuse of power under House ethics rules: sex with a subordinate,” Huffman wrote on the social platform X. “He must now drop out of the Governor’s race and resign from Congress.”
Pramila Jayapal, on Meet The Press this morning, also called for his resignation.
As I’d noted in my previous post about Swalwell, it was interesting to see that he was shoveling out cease & desist letters right and left to many of his victims.
I just want to make one final point tonight. A number of women received cease-and-desist letters from Eric Swalwell. My wife did not. Every woman involved, except my wife who went on the record, has remained anonymous. So here’s the question no one can ignore: how did he know who…
— Adam Parkhomenko (@AdamParkhomenko) April 12, 2026
It’s a fair question.
As the Swalwell fallout continues, it seems that this information regarding Eric Swalwell was the final straw for more than a few Democrats.
NEW: There is real appetite among House members in both parties to expel Swalwell, Gonzales, Cherfilus-McCormick and Mills in one go and be done with it, @axios has found.

"We want a full house cleaning," said one Democrat. "Get the garbage out of here." https://t.co/90CTgRZ9WP
Unless you are Mark Warner.
“Do you think [Swalwell] should resign from Congress or face expulsion?”
— Townhall.com (@townhallcom) April 12, 2026
MARK WARNER: “If any of these reports are true he should at least no longer be a candidate for Governor…” pic.twitter.com/nSyBV8zllX
That’s some serious hair-splitting there!
Eric Swalwell, in my opinion, has always given off a sleazy vibe. And now, the guy who told everyone to “believe all women accusers” over Brett Kavanaugh is scrambling to ensure their silence and salvage what’s left of his campaign, career, and very possibly his marriage.
Karma sure is interesting, isn’t it?
