Yesterday, Marcus Coleman, a father whose daughter was gravely injured because of a truck driver here illegally, verbally lambasted Democrats. Why? Because a truck driver, here illegally,  nearly killed Coleman’s daughter Dalilah.

Coleman was testifying in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Immigration. His wife, a LEGAL immigrant, and his daughter Delilah who is still dealing with injuries from that accident in 2024.

Earlier this week, over 100 truck driving schools were shut down by the Department of Transportation. 

Federal transportation officials are removing more than 110 commercial driver training schools from a federal registry and targeting another 160-plus schools for removal as part of a sweeping new crackdown on fraud in the trucking industry.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the enforcement actions Monday in Detroit alongside Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Administrator Derek Barrs, federal prosecutors and members of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.

“What we are announcing is an emergency executive shutdown of 110 driving schools,” Duffy said during the news conference. “These are driving schools that account for 5,000 of the violations for English proficiency.”

The initiative also includes a nationwide audit of third-party CDL skills testers, a Homeland Security Investigations sweep targeting more than 200 driving schools across 23 states and a new Justice Department task force focused on trucking-related fraud and criminal activity in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

That doesn’t include the 7500 truck driving schools that were shut down in January, nor the ones that are handing out CDL’s via online courses! That part just boggled my mind. Semi trucks are NOT easy to drive, especially with today’s technology embedded in them. And supposedly one could receive a CDL with zero actual drive training via an online course? Are you kidding me??

As with the Biden Administration’s open borders policy, it seems that federal oversight of the truck driving schools was non-existent. 

States issue commercial driver’s licenses allowing holders to cross state lines, but the federal government sets national standards and has oversight over the roughly 31,000 CDL training schools across America.

“The last administration allowed truck driving schools to self-certify to say that they meet all of the federal standards to be a certified truck driving school. What we found is many of those schools don’t actually meet that standard,” Duffy said.

“We’re not gonna have a problem. We’re gonna have truck drivers,” he added.

“You have to speak English to operate a commercial vehicle. I didn’t create that rule. President Trump didn’t create that rule. That rule has been in place for decades, and we have schools that know the rule and still pass people through their school who can’t speak the language,” Duffy continued.

In Wyoming, I-80 is one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the country. Especially in the winter. It’s bad enough with the accidents due to ice and blizzards involving legal drivers, but when you add in those who can’t understand the written or verbal warning signs because of a significant language barrier, that puts every single driver on the road at risk. 

I-25 through Wyoming shuts down several times a year because high winds can literally blow fully loaded semis off the road. In Colorado, there is a major construction project on I-70 involving stoppages through the week because of blasting. What happens when a driver doesn’t understand what those signs mean?

To receive a CDL to operate large and heavy vehicles, drivers must display a “higher level of knowledge, experience, skills, and physical abilities than that required to drive a non-commercial vehicle,” according to the DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). 

President Trump signed an executive order in April 2025 requiring commercial truck drivers in the U.S. to be proficient in English. That same month, Duffy issued new guidance to rescind the Obama administration’s removal of ELP requirements for commercial vehicle drivers.

According to some in the media, illegal truck drivers are only 1% of the issue, with the implication that this is no big deal. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin put one of them on blast.

Marcus Coleman understands all too well the danger an illegal truck driver poses. As noted above, his daughter was nearly killed by a truck driver who was unable to read the signs and slammed into the car she was riding in at over 60 mph. Dalilah and her father were guests at the State of the Union in January. 

Yesterday he testified and emphatically told Democrats to take their fake sympathy and shove it. 

Keep in mind, California didn’t vet that school nor the illegal truck driver. Instead, he was quickly handed a CDL (Commercial Drivers License), and off down the road he went. Which, in my opinion, makes the state just as liable as the school. Do California Democrats care about those harmed or killed by truck drivers, here illegally, who cannot write nor speak English? No. Marcus was very clear that he received zero calls from Gavin Newsom nor any other Democrat in the state. ZERO.

The ironic thing here is two-fold. One, Marcus’ wife came into this country legally. She went through all the hoops necessary to become a citizen. Secondly, Marcus himself is a truck driver. He KNOWS what it takes to be a good and SAFE driver on the roads. 

Illegal truck drivers who cannot read nor speak English are a danger to us all. Marcus Coleman knows it. The Democrats run from it.
