Taskforce For Coronavirus Too White, Says CNN Analyst

To some, it seems Trump cannot even get a taskforce right. As we see an uptick in the Coronavirus outbreak with reported death tolls up to 250 this morning, CNN is throwing out irresponsible journalism once again. This time, in a tweet stating Trump’s taskforce is “too white”.

Meanwhile, across our world:

The World Heath Organization has confidence in China to control this outbreak? Really? Color some of us skeptical here. But the REAL skepticism comes from our friends at CNN.

Who are these experts? They’re largely the same sorts of white men (and a couple women on the sidelines) who’ve dominated the Trump administration from the very beginning.

By contrast, former President Barack Obama’s circle of advisers in the face of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa was hardly so monochromatic. Neither was it so abysmal in terms of gender diversity. “-Brandon Tensley, CNN

It’s “abysmal”, says Tensley. You know what is abysmal? When a MAN sees a picture of said Taskforce and assumes the WOMEN in the photo are just “sitting on the sidelines”. Tensley knows this, how?

Tensley’s taskforce “analysis” of this consists of two side-by-side photos of Trump’s versus Obama’s task forces. I mean, personally, if a President sits around and worries about the diversity of a task force before employing it to control a deadly epidemic, we have problems. The fact that we have people who are reporting on this in such a slanted and irresponsible way indicates the level we are at as a country. If someone is in a hospital bed at the mercy of health professionals to save his life, do you really think he cares about skin color or gender? I’m willing to bet this is a resounding “no”. I mean, do people walk out of doctor’s offices and hospital emergency rooms if, after doing a brief scan, they do not meet their own personal diversity quotas?

In Tensley’s world that sits within the isolation booth of the liberal bubble, intersectionalism and diversity is more important than choosing the best people to solve the problem. Tensley, who is African American, overlooks the large pool of white affluence that makes up the Democratic Presidential hopefuls. He ignores the boards of directors made of largely white men who sit in the executive office of his own media outlet and write his checks. If we look at CNN, the media train wreck is far from the most diverse. And, sadly, they’re not doing the African-American population any favors with their boy, Don Lemon. Tensley ignores the large editorial boards of white men and women who claim to check their privilege on the daily (and they write about this) but they still sit on editorial boards. They still write about what would be best in a world of diversity and how we Americans can be better to our marginalized minorities. They sit upon their laurels and tell us all how we need to be better people yet we don’t see anyone there giving up their jobs in these cushy positions because they need to step aside and make way for a more diverse group, do we? Of course not.

But in the name of the Coronavirus and intersectional politics, by all means, Trump’s taskforce of white men (with girls on the side) need to step aside for a more inclusive group to control the outbreak. Shall we pluck the drag queen from Kindergarten story hour and the non-binary, one-legged lesbian and stick them on the force instead? In all consideration, at this point, all of this woke is going to leave us for dead.

Exactly! I have just spent the week in hospital due to very serious infection and was treated variously by two Caucasian specialists and a delightful young man, called Prachan, who was probably from India originally. Did I care who was looking to cure me? No, I was too sick to worry about such things.

Well, that’s the problem! You should have sent those two white people packing since they were obviously cisheteropatriarchalcolonial and oppressive and only accepted trans doctors of color in the interest of…

Sorry. Couldn’t keep typing that with a straight face. And I suppose my straight face is automatically wrong.

A further thought about CNN: perhaps they consider it to be ‘cultural appropriation’ for Caucasian medicos to be treating a disease that appears to be a direct ‘product’ of traditional Chinese cultural/dietary habits or practices? Perhaps Chinese diseases should only be treated by Chinese practitioners?

As for Tensley ‘honi soit qui mal y pense’.

The great thing about the comparative Trump vs. Obama photos, is that Trump is listening while Obama is pontificating.
