One of the most consistent stances that President Trump has hit on since his entrance into politics has been that the Iran Deal negotiated by former President Barack Obama stunk, and that Iran could not be allowed to get a nuclear weapon.


The Iran Deal – also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) – which we have covered extensively on this blog for years, was the Obama administration’s attempt to placate Iran and create some “legacy” for Obama himself. When President Trump exited the deal during his first term, the whining and crying from the Obama alumni was extensive. However, they all like to conveniently forget that the deal had an expiration date – it was only meant to delay Iran’s development of a nuclear bomb, not stop it.

The JCPOA, which imposed restrictions on Iran’s civilian nuclear enrichment program in exchange for sanctions relief, was signed on July 14, 2015. It was agreed to by Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council — China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States — as well as Germany and the European Union.

The JCPOA was designed to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program would be exclusively peaceful and provided for the lifting of nuclear-related sanctions in order to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

“It blocks every possible pathway Iran could use to build a nuclear bomb while ensuring — through a comprehensive, intrusive, and unprecedented verification and transparency regime — that Iran’s nuclear program remains exclusively peaceful moving forward,” Obama’s White House said at the time.

The deal went into effect on Jan. 16, 2016, after the IAEA verified that Iran had completed steps, including shipping 25,000 pounds of enriched uranium out of the country, dismantling and removing two-thirds of its centrifuges and allowing for more extensive international inspections of its nuclear facilities.

The U.S. and many European nations lifted oil and financial sanctions and released about $100 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

If all parties adhered to the deal, experts held that it likely would have prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon for more than a decade, according to the Council on Foreign Relations. Should Iran try to build a nuclear weapon, sanctions would go back into effect.

Many of the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program “have expiration dates,” according to the Council on Foreign Relations, noting for example that centrifuge restrictions would be lifted after 10 years and limits on how much low-enriched uranium Iran can possess after 15 years.

“Some of the deal’s opponents faulted these so-called sunset provisions, saying they would only delay Iran building a bomb while sanctions relief would allow it to underwrite terrorism in the region,” the organization said.

So, even if the Iran Deal was still in effect, the expiration date was here. Time flies, everyone.

And now, with President Trump taking some decisive action to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat, the Obama Bros are wailing and gnashing their teeth over the loss of their beloved Lightbringer’s legacy. Ben Rhodes, also known as “Hamas” within the Obama White House, seemed kind of bitter on X.

While he got dragged, fellow Bro Tommy Vietor (of “dude, that was like two years ago” fame) also decided to open his mouth on X. In short, it seems Tommy believes that the United States should have continued to placate Iran and lie to ourselves, because you just never know if Iran would snap.

Iran might retaliate today, tomorrow or in months. Or a year from now, Iran or its proxies might blow up a bus filled with American tourists in Cyprus. No one knows what comes next. Bombing Iran started something that we no longer have the capacity to predict or contain.

So, in Tommy’s view, the heckler’s – or in this case, terrorist’s – veto should be used as justification to do nothing, because if the Iranian regime isn’t coddled, then they might attack Americans wherever they find them! Wow, these sound EXACTLY like the people who should be able to develop a nuclear weapon! And don’t you dare insinuate that Tommy is anti-Semitic just because he said Trump was “manipulated into doing Netanyahu’s dirty work” – HOW DARE YOU, SIR.

If you’re getting the impression that Tommy Vietor is a bitter little toolbag whose greatest accomplishment was being Obama’s van driver, it’s because he’s a bitter little toolbag whose greatest accomplishment was being Obama’s van driver. You do have to admire Rhodes and Vietor to their total commitment to Obama and his legacy, though. Their dedication is only surpassed by Obama and his own commitment to his own legacy.

We don’t yet know how Iran will fully respond to the bombings of Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. So far, they have sent missiles into Israel, but that has been it. We do know that the Iranian foreign minister has announced that there will be no more diplomacy. Well, let us know how that works out for you. Meanwhile, the Obama “legacy” in Iran might finally be over and done, and the world is a better place for it. Cry harder, boys.
