Nikki Haley’s Many Reasons For Mental Competency Tests

A few days after basically being called, “past her prime” by Don Lemon of CNN, Nikki Haley is not backing down on her proposal for mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75.

Don Lemon got a “formal training” and a Monday off. Older voters balked. Older politicians, like Bernie Sanders, also balked. But Nikki Haley used a few supporting characters to drive home her argument in Iowa yesterday.

To include Bernie Sanders.

Bernie Sanders lost his mind because I asked for that. He is exactly the reason we need it.”-Nikki Haley

Sanders has been an establishment politician since what seems like the Jurassic period. But the same people who claimed Donald Trump was too old to take the presidency in 2016 would have been completely on-board with the Socialist with multi-million-dollar homes taking up residency in The White House. And, they were and are completely fine with the old nincompoop we are currently calling our POTUS.

But it’s not just Bernie who Haley mentioned by name. Sen. Dianne Feinstein was one of them:

When a California Democrat in Congress recently engaged in an extended conversation with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, they prepared for a rigorous policy discussion like those they’d had with her many times over the last 15 years.

Instead, the lawmaker said, they had to reintroduce themselves to Feinstein multiple times during an interaction that lasted several hours.”-Tal Kopan, Joe Garofoli, The San Francisco Chronicle

Then, there’s Val Demmings–errr-uhhh… Maxine “Putin Invaded Korea” Waters. You know, the liberal who is all about socializing? Crazy “Aunt Maxine” who wants to harass people in public places and ran around for four whole years yelling “Impeach Fourtyfiiiiive”?

Then, there’s Nancy Pelosi and her knuckle-rubbing and denture-popping as Joe Biden talks about toxic burn pits.

And, need we look any further than the “crazy female senator” from Hawai’i, Mazie Hirono?

Senator Hirono, D-Hawaii, 75, told Insider she thinks Haley should test her own mental competency. Actually, Nikki Haley’s quick comeback to Bernie’s balking is enough to tell us that she is more on-the-ball than a whole bunch of them. Crazy Mazie wanted a “call to arms” in response to pro-life legislation.

Congress today is as old as the legislative branch has ever been. The 117th Congress has 21 lawmakers who are in their 80s and 103 who are in their 70s, and the average age of a senator is 63, an Insider analysis found.”-Warren Rojas, Insider

Haley firmly believes in term limits and in mental capacity tests for anyone serving in office over the age of 75. And, honestly, it does not sound too unreasonable of an ask. When a lawmaker has someone escorting them to their seat and talking them through a process (like voting on policy) that they should be familiar with due to the sheer amount of time they have spent in office, there is an issue. When the President does not know which way to walk off stage, sees deceased lawmakers in the audience and starts alternating between a whisper and angry, beady-eyed troll, it may be time to consider term limits, or, at the very least, mental competency tests.

When 81-year-old Bernie Sanders is chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, it’s not too much to have him take a 10-minute test to see whether he has the mental ability to draw a clock or identify an animal. We’re not talking rocket science here.”-Nachama Soloveichik, Campaign Adviser to Nikki Haley

But until then, Bernie burns on:

Should we perhaps bring up Bernie’s inability to pay his own staffers a “working minimum wage”? Or has dementia set in and has he forgotten this? It was so long ago in 2019 that he was over-working and under-paying his staffers. And, Bernie, how much is the price of a ticket on your book tour where you discuss the evils of Capitalism?

Okay, Boomer.

America is not past its prime; it’s just that our politicians are past theirs.”-Nikki Haley

Haley is 51 and not past her prime. But Maxine, Mazie, Diane, Nancy, Bernie and ol’ Joe? I’d say they are.

It’s okay to be angry about Capitalism while you’re still making money off of it, Bernie. It’s also okay to be angry about ageism, Mr. Sanders. And I’m sure this will not be the first time Nikki Haley will call you and any of your washed-up relics still collecting a paycheck off of us out on this.

Since elected officials are required to take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, maybe they should be required to take a test to show they’ve read and understand the Constitution.

What a concept! One problem is that the test would likely be written by some CRT steeped “teacher”, and bear not even a passing resemblance to the Founders intent in the document.

  • GWB says:

When the President … it may be time to consider term limits
Ummm, Lisa, we already have a thing called the 22d Amendment, which imposes term limits on the Presidency.
And, if you want to impose a competency test on said office, you’ll need another amendment.

If a presidential candidate wanted to do this as part of their medical-and-tax-exam ritual, fine. It will have about as much meaning.

Also, oddly, ctrl+F returns not a single occurrence of “Fetterman” in this. How can you leave a youngster out when talking about competency tests?

Honestly, this whole discussion smells of youth-worship – even if we’re talking 50yo “youths”.
The idea that we should simply shunt aside “old people” in favor of younger, more vigorous ones is a false choice, at best. The idea that there is some age at which a competency test should be applied fails to understand differences in human beings. (I would gladly take a 100yo George Burns as President over a 50yo Biden.)
We should value our elders for their accumulated wisdom. But they have to have accumulated some to start with. And it’s proof that our electorate lacks it, in spades, when they elect (even close enough for the margin of fraud to push him to victory) someone like Biden. It’s not the presidential candidates who need competency tests, it’s the people.

If you want the Republic back from senile old communists, then evangelize and indoctrinate and educate the electorate. Nothing else will do it.

“Haley is 51 and not past her prime. But Maxine, Mazie, Diane, Nancy, Bernie and ol’ Joe? I’d say they are”… Past their prime??? They’re so far past their expiration date (if they were ever fresh), that they’re like that years old tub of sour cream you find in the back of the fridge a week after it quits. multi-colored and fuzzy, and nasty as hell!

  • Kevin says:

It’s funny how you leave out “over the hill” republicans … Hal Rogers (84), Jim Inhofe (87), Richard Shelby (87), Chuck Grassley (87) and TFG (the F*%king Genius).

Isn’t that the purpose of elections? Let the voters decide if they want a president at the onset of Alzheimer’s (Reagan), shouldn’t that be their choice?

    • Cameron says:

And your TDS raises its ugly head once again. I recommend Thorazine.

    • GWB says:

If any of them are showing cognitive decline, I’m all for shuffling them off, too.

Of course, you’re the perfect example of how age is not really the issue, but lack of intelligence and wisdom is. Thank you for proving my point above.

      • Scott says:

Everyone declines over time.. but when you’re a leftist that started at the level of pond scum, it doesn’t take much of a decline till you’re drooling all over yourself, and having people direct you off stage and give you a pudding cup.
