Joe Manchin is done with letting Democrats burn money. Schumer’s spending bill just got spiked by Joe Manchin, once again dealing a major blow to Democrats hoping to spend our way into even higher inflation.
Specifically, Manchin did not want new taxes and idiotic climate change legislation shoehorned into the current bill.
Senator Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia, pulled the plug on Thursday on negotiations to salvage key pieces of President Biden’s agenda, informing his party’s leaders that he would not support funding for climate or energy programs or raising taxes on wealthy Americans and corporations.
The decision by Mr. Manchin, a conservative-leaning Democrat whose opposition has effectively stalled Mr. Biden’s economic package in the evenly divided Senate, dealt a devastating blow to his party’s efforts to enact a broad social safety net, climate and tax package.
As is noted by Manchin’s spokesperson, he has the finger on the pulse of what Americans really are concerned about right now, and climate change is NOT one of those issues.
“Political headlines are of no value to the millions of Americans struggling to afford groceries and gas as inflation soars to 9.1 percent,” said Sam Runyon, a spokeswoman for Mr. Manchin. “Senator Manchin believes it’s time for leaders to put political agendas aside, re-evaluate and adjust to the economic realities the country faces to avoid taking steps that add fuel to the inflation fire.”
The Democrats wanted to cram everything into the basket in order to placate every single issue group out there, as if they had unlimited money to burn. Except that Joe Manchin believes otherwise. He knows inflation is the biggest worry, but all the Democrats want to do is spend burn money as if it magically grows on trees.
Yet the Democrats are still caterwauling at the sky and telling us the world will die if we don’t DO SOMETHING about climate change! The tantrums from so-called experts and public officials are quite something.
After stringing along his Democratic colleagues for 18 months, and delaying the Biden administration's executive actions, Manchin has torched any climate deal. He does not care about the American people or the planet his grandchildren will grow up on.https://t.co/Hvfk5TyLuh

Evidently Leah was SO distraught over Manchin’s move that she CRIED through her interview with the New York Times. Yes, cried. Wow.
Clara chimes in.
The INSANE thing is that climate change will cost us more the longer we wait to act. So much more. So much more than 9.1% inflation. I'm talking actual money here.

The most fiscally prudent thing would be throw money at it now. https://t.co/LBLdhhL72V
Clara truly doesn’t understand that 9.1% inflation is …BAD and we have it because the government has been doing nothing but print money for two years now! But sure, we have money to burn on climate change crap, no biggie.
Good ole Sheldon wants executive orders to fix the issues.
With legislative climate options now closed, it’s now time for executive Beast Mode.

Let’s have a few inconvenient truths shall we?
A. In Texas ERCOT has spent the last 6 weeks warning people about conserving energy. Just yesterday ERCOT admitted their aging generators can’t handle the capacity. As to why they haven’t been steadily working to replace those since the great ice storm debacle is beyond me.
B. Sri Lanka is 100% bankrupt and people are starving and dying because government green policies decimated the country.
C. Germany is considering urging people to start burning WOOD this winter.
The German energy crisis has reached the point where Deutsche Bank starts to 'model' (let's call it that) the potential for **gas-to-wood** substitution for heating German households this winter | #NothingToSeeHere #ONGT #GasCrisis pic.twitter.com/zuSls1SiCP

But wait! Wasn’t Germany going all in on wind and solar? So much so that they have shuttered nuclear plants and are still insisting on closing down at three others by the end of this year!
In response to these pressures, German leaders have considered reopening shuttered coal plants to shore up their economy and national security. Coal is the dirtiest source of electricity, releasing more greenhouse gas emissions and deadly air pollution than any other energy. Boosting its production is a damning policy failure. How did the world’s preeminent renewable energy champion find itself in a situation where it would be reopening coal plants?
The truth is that the Energiewende was doomed to fail from the start. Germany bet big on solar and wind and shut down their nuclear plants when they should have forgone renewables and expanded their nuclear energy program instead. Germany’s anti-nuclear ideology is so rigid that they closed three nuclear plants in December 2021, despite the global energy crisis, and plan to close their last three nuclear plants this December, despite Russia’s energy extortion.
All of those inconvenient truths are valid issues. Furthermore, I’ll say it again, the ROI for wind and solar can’t even be calculated because there IS no ROI! Wind and solar must always have oil, natural gas, and even coal as a back up, and are needed to manufacture those wind turbines and solar fields. Furthermore, the electric grid across the U.S. just cannot handle a full move to wind and solar.
But we were supposed to save the planet! That’s why Democrats kept shoving this crap into the BBB (Build Back Better) bill!
Democrats would have less trouble if they stopped setting such absurd expectations for their own bills.

No form of BBB was ever going to “save the planet from climate change” unless it had magical powers over China’s emissions. https://t.co/KnN7ayZDWJ
As for the arrogant push to have everyone just pony up money to purchase a $50,000 electric vehicle? With Manchin’s veto, a chunk of taxpayer dollars were saved from ‘helping’ people buy such vehicles.
Joe Manchin is absolutely correct here. Right now Americans cannot afford anymore spending increases. We can’t afford any new taxes, and no matter which way you look at it, new regulatory fees, and spending money on climate change crap is a tax on us all with zero return on any part of the investment.

Good post Nina, but you could have shortened the last paragraph to ;
Americans can’t afford democrats…
I would point out the ‘return’ is and was never for us or the planet. The whole point is to funnel huge stacks of borrowed cash to the green cronies.
Don’t forget the kickbacks to the pols..
As I keep saying, the “climate” will DO what it damned well will, for the humongous ball called EARTH, and we the people who live on it, can’t make it do what we might want.
It’s fascinating how the people who so openly despise this country thinks that we’re powerful enough to change the climate.
