Macron Brokers Conditional U.S. Russia Summit Over Ukraine

French President Macron has been busy. It seems his discussions with Putin and Biden have paid off, mostly. He was able to broker a conditional summit between the two world powers.

The President of the Republic spoke with the President of the United States, Mr. Joe BIDEN and the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir PUTIN.

He proposed a summit to be held between President BIDEN and President PUTIN and then with relevant stakeholders to discuss security and strategic stability in Europe.

Presidents BIDEN and PUTIN have both accepted the principle of such a summit.

The substance will have to be prepared by Secretary BLINKEN and Minister LAVROV during their meeting on Thursday 24 February.

It can only be held at the condition that Russia does not invade Ukraine.

The news here in the U.S. over the last couple of days has been full of dire warnings regarding Putin’s imminent invasion of Ukraine. Furthermore, in spite of all the tough talk, even Ukraine President Zelensky knows that the U.S. is full of hot air when it comes to sanctions. I mean, they sent Kamala to Munich to “negotiate.” All she’s done for the last couple of days is A. show how totally unprepared she is, and B. Offer up asinine word salads, such as the following:

“The purpose of the sanctions has always been and continues to be deterrence. But let’s also recognize the unique nature of the sanctions that we have outlined,” Harris claimed. “These are some of the greatest sanctions, if not the strongest, that we’ve ever issued. As I articulated yesterday, it is directed at institutions — in particular, financial institutions — and individuals, and it will exact absolute harm for the Russian economy and their government.”

“But if Putin has made up his mind, do you feel that this threat that has been looming is really going to deter him?” the reporter pressed.

“Absolut- — we strongly believe — and remember also that the sanctions are a product not only of our perspective as the United States, but a shared perspective among our allies,” Harris claimed. “And the allied relationship is such that we have agreed that the deterrence effect of these sanctions is still a meaningful one, especially because — remember, also — we still sincerely hope that there is a diplomatic path out of this moment. And within the context then of the fact that that window is still opening, altho- — open, although it is absolutely narrowing — but within the context of a diplomatic path still being open, the deterrence effect, we believe, has merit.”

If she was supposed to solve the problem, I’m here to tell you, that ain’t it chief. She was sent over to DEFUSE a potential world war, and all she has to offer is a cackling laugh and a boatload of gibberish.

Meanwhile, even as she stated that sanctions are on the table, Biden had already made the decision to hold off on sanctions, even if an invasion happens.

What’s telling about this is that it was Macron who has brokered this conditional summit. The Biden Administration certainly couldn’t get Putin to the table! All this Administration does is issue vague threats, sends Kamala to Munich to blather about nonsense, and talks as if sanctions will be the biggest baddest threat Russia ever faces. Which, in regards to the sanctions, might be as any sanction usually harms the citizens, not the leadership. Can Putin afford to have Russian citizenry pissed off at him? That is the million dollar question.

During the conditional summit negotiations, this was Putin’s response.

“Serious concern was expressed over the sharp deterioration of the situation on the line of contact in the Donbass,” the Kremlin said in its summary of the first Macron call. “The president of Russia noted that the reason for the escalation is the provocations of the Ukrainian security forces. Attention is drawn to the ongoing pumping by the NATO countries of Ukraine of modern weapons and ammunition, which is pushing Kyiv towards a military solution to the so-called Donbass problem.

“As a result,” the Kremlin statement added, “civilians in the [separatist areas], who have to evacuate to Russia to escape the intensifying shelling, suffer.”

Biden has been warning about this invasion, if he even knows what the word means.

All of this is taking place while Putin has his military conducting major drills in Belarus and specifically in the areas of Belarus that border Ukraine. Which makes me wonder, what does Putin have up his sleeve? He’s never been trustworthy. What concessions will he demand from the U.S. this time?

While the Biden Administration has been dithering, and Putin playing war games, it was Macron who got them to agree, in principle to a summit. Suddenly, diplomacy is awesome!

Oh yes, I can see it now. Since the U.S. is SO ready for diplomacy, Putin will magically pull his troops back and there will be a summit meeting between he and Grandpa Joe. With the end result of …peace, maybe? No one knows because everyone has blinked multiple times.

    Good god.

Biden might give the Donbass region to Russia as appeasement, much like Chamberlain relinquishing a region of Czechoslovakia to the Nazis in 1938. And remember, after that, by the next year (1939) WW2 started. Hopefully, Putin will not attack any of the NATO countries for fear of the MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) doctrine…
