Lauren Boebert Needs To Grow Up

Lauren Boebert has been in the news this week for all the wrong reasons. To recap, Boebert and her friend/boyfriend were kicked out of the Buell Theatre for causing a disturbance during a production of Beetlejuice.

Republican Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert was escorted out of a Sunday night performance of “Beetlejuice” at the Buell Theater in Denver.

An incident report from the Buell Theater, requested by 9NEWS on Monday night and received on Tuesday, detailed several patron complaints about the behavior of two people sitting in Row E, near the front of the theater.

According to the report, there were three different complaints about the two people “vaping, singing [and] causing a disturbance.”

The two people are never named in the report.

They were told that if there was another issue, they would be asked to leave.

The report says the two were “argumentative” saying they “were in concert with everyone around them.”
There was another complaint five minutes into the second act, according to the report, about the two being loud and “at the time were recording.”

The initial statement put out by Lauren Boebert wasn’t helpful. Quite frankly, I thought it was a childish response.

Needless to say, the incident report and then the release of the video yesterday tell an entirely different story.

I have two issues with all of this.

Behavior: The video doesn’t put Boebert or her date in a good light whatsoever. I’ve been to many performances at the Buell, and at other theatres. The behavior exhibited here is unacceptable. It doesn’t matter who you are, or even if you do or don’t hold political office. Don’t act like a rude ass teenager with you and your date groping each other and except not to be called out for it.

Political Standards/Hypocrisy:  Lauren Boebert has now caused her reelection campaign serious issues with this behavior. The Democrats are and will gleefully dunk on her for the rest of the campaign cycle. Yet, when the Democrat behavior is called out, as with newly minted porn star Susanna Gibson in Virginia who was caught performing sex acts with her husband and others, Republicans are accused of misogyny.

I smell more than a whiff of misogyny in the social media comments circulating like wildfire about Gibson, and sadly, women appear to be some of the chief water bearers.

“I hope she is removed from her employment…don’t think I’d ever want her to [be] anywhere near my health-care,” wrote one user of X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Another X user said of Gibson, “Oh gross! Filthy! What is she doing with a white coat on?!”

That people are disqualifying Gibson’s educational credentials and years of professional health care experience because she chose to make porn online with her life partner is absurd. Calling Gibson filthy is tantamount to so-called “slut shaming,” defined as “the action or fact of stigmatizing a woman for engaging in behavior judged to be promiscuous or sexually provocative.”

Yes, that is how the Democrats and media are going to play this. What Lauren Boebert did was unacceptable. What Gibson did was equally unacceptable and, in all honesty, extremely icky. Yet the Democrats are NOT chastising Gibson, and the media sat on the story until they couldn’t. But they are and will be going after Boebert with all the knives out.

To her credit, Lauren Boebert issued an apology.

Her apology does not directly address all the behavior issues seen on camera.

The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I’m truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community. While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that.
There’s no perfect blueprint for going through a public and difficult divorce, which over the past few months has made for a challenging personal time for me and my entire family. I’ve tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That’s unacceptable and I’m sorry.

Quite frankly, her apology doesn’t cut it for me. She’s in her second term. A race she just barely won, by all of 500 votes. She has a responsibility to her district. She’s working for them and high standards of behavior should be the norm.

Lauren Boebert, if she wants to keep her seat, needs to grow the hell up. She needs to stop with the heckling and acting like she’s a twelve year old Mean Girl. The Democrats have been gunning for her for several years now, and she just fed them new boatloads of ammunition.

Shot herself in the foot. Bigly.

Politicians behaving as if the usual rules don’t apply to them, not a new phenomenon. You are right to call it out for what it is, narcissism and hubris. I would only add the Susanna Gibson wasn’t “caught” performing sex acts, she published the video.

At this point in time, here’s the huge difference between Ms. Gibson and Ms. Boebert … Ms. Gibson is not a member of the House of Representatives and may never become a member. All Ms. Boebert can do is screech like a monkey in heat and throw her feces at the people around her. What has she ever accomplished in the House other than to be the #1 Idiot and that’s saying a lot given the crowd she runs in (Taylor-Green, Gaetz, et. al.). The republican party (if you can still call it that) is dead. Ronald Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush are spinning in their graves like an alligator in a death roll. It’s unrecognizable and that may be what the base wants … less dignity and decorum (Romney) and more screeching like a monkey in heat (Boebert).

The difference is that Boebert acted like a teen, one time, in a dark theater. Gibson could be charged with prostitution. She’s been putting her sex acts on the internet for a while, which is always public.

Boebert’s still miles better than all her critics. Nice center-frame shot of Boebert, almost like it was aimed at her?

Get Elon to let that sink in for you.
