Hillary Mocks Trump on SNL

Two liberals walk into a bar. Two women dressed as Hillary Clinton walk into a bar. Yes, we can start the jokes now, folks, it’s all good. As per usual, NBC’s season premiere of SNL gave us no cause to question their political affiliation (ahem, bias) with a guest appearance by none other than Hillary Clinton last night.

The scene began with comedian, Kate McKinnon impersonating Clinton and nursing a drink as she overhears people talking about voting for Donald Trump.

“Oh, Huma, why won’t the people just let me lead?”, McKinnon (as Clinton) said to a dark-haired woman posing as real-life aide, Huma Abedin. The real Hillary Clinton appears behind the bar introducing herself as “Val” to which McKinnon states “…it’s been a rough 22 years.”

“I’m just an ordinary citizen who believes the Keystone pipeline will destroy our environment.” —“Val” AKA Hillary Clinton

McKinnon, as the downtrodden Hillary Clinton who “could have moved earlier on supporting gay marriage” sets up (what most liberal news outlets are calling the funniest part of the skit), with this:

“I’m just so darn bummed. All anybody wants to talk about is Donald Trump.”

To which “Val” (Hillary) does her best Trump impersonation of the evening:

“Isn’t he the one who says ‘Ugh, you’re all losers‘”?

The skit ended in an attempt to humanize the 2016 democratic hopeful with a duet between Clinton and McKinnon singing Bill Withers’ Lean on Me and McKinnon saying to Valhillary “I wish you could be president,” with Clinton (still in bartender character saying, “me too.”

Clinton was not the only person who poked fun at Trump on last night’s SNL premiere. Pete Davidson also mocked Trump in the Weekend Update segment, comparing him to former American Idol contestant Sanjaya:

“America needs to stop doing things because it’s funny. Now that he’s winning, I have to go out and vote. A Trump presidency is so terrifying. You know who he reminds me of? Sanjaya from American Idol. Same hair, same garbage.”

Trump, of course, fired back:

While NBC bows before Mrs. Clinton in a tongue-in-cheek bar performance, I would have found it quite amusing if Hillary asked herself the difficult questions that the American public want the answers to. The “Oh, Huma! Why won’t the people just let me lead?” could be replaced with “Oh, Huma! Why did we botch up our country’s security?” Or “Oh, Huma! Why am I on a television show that is not funny trying to, once again, be funny while not addressing current issues of the American people?” Wait a second, “Val”, it appears that the town drunk at the bar you are tending has spilled his drink. Why don’t you wipe it with a cloth-or something?

Some of us have better things to do on a Saturday night.

And we remember when SNL was actually funny and relevant.

I have visions of Hillary watching Carly Fiorina with Jimmy Fallon and pouting “I’m funny! I can sing!” And voila, this skit was born. Darrell Hammond’s cameo was priceless.

@ Kodos: Exactly. They just think they’re relevant.

    @ Rebecca: Right?!
