Haters Gonna Hate: Trump Tests Negative for COVID

On Saturday evening, Dr. Sean Conley, President Trump’s physician, released a statement stating that Trump did not have the coronavirus. And lo, there was wailing and gnashing of teeth among the haters on social media.

Here’s the essential part of Conley’s letter:

“Last night after an in-depth discussion with the President regarding COVID-19 testing, he elected to proceed. This evening I received confirmation that the test is negative.”

Now you know that if this had been Obama, liberals and the media (but I repeat myself) would’ve heaved a collective sigh of relief. Hard-bitten atheists would’ve suddenly found Jesus and praised the Lord.

But since this is President Trump we’re talking about, the haters crawled out from under their rocks to snarl and hiss.

For example, take this feminist whom I’ve never heard of, but who somehow has earned the blue Twitter check:

While the Democratic Coalition insisted that the White House lied. Of course:

In addition, Yamiche Alcindor also questioned the veracity of the report:

So who is Yamiche Alcindor?

She’s the PBS reporter who gained 15 minutes of fame during Trump’s Friday presser by insisting that he disbanded St. Barack’s pandemic task force. Because when you’re fighting a pandemic, winning this sort of pissing match makes everything better.

But the Idiot Take of the Day belongs to George Conway, hardcore member of the #NeverTrump Haters and husband to Trump’s counselor, Kellyanne Conway.

Wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall at their house?

At any rate, Conway didn’t claim that Dr. Conley lied on his report. No, he insulted his credibility by pointing out that Conley has a DO after his name rather than MD.

“So the White House physician isn’t an M.D. Good Lord. Someone sneeze on me now and just get it over with.”

Whereupon Conway further insulted all DOs, or, Doctors of Osteopathy:

“Nothing wrong with the degree, but the people who go into DO programs are typically the ones who couldn’t get admitted into MD programs.”

And:

“Show me a top 25, or even a top 50, university that offers an DO instead of an MD. Is there a single one? In the top 100 there’s Michigan State, but I think that’s it.”

Finally . . . See? Barack Obama!

“President Obama’s personal physician not only was an an MD, but had an M.P.H. from—get this—the Johns Hopkins *Bloomberg* School of Public Health, which happens to be the best graduate school of public health in the country (Harvard’s being no. 2).”

Perhaps Conway and his fellow Trump haters should — as millennials like to say — “educate themselves.”

For example, here’s what William Burke, a dean of Osteopathy in Ohio, said at WebMD:

“We are fully licensed and certified physicians who have a few extra tools in our toolkit.”

“MDs and DOs work side by side in virtually every hospital in the country.”

Burke continued by noting that while most DOs are primary care providers, others may specialize in areas such as psychiatry, neurology, and cardiovascular surgery.

In addition, Dr. Sanjay Gupta — yes, CNN’s Dr. Gupta — noted the similarities between MDs and DOs:

“The simple answer is that both an MD (Doctor of Medicine) and a DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) are doctors licensed to practice in the United States. They are similarly educated and certified, but there are differences in their training and philosophy of patient care.”

The difference is that DOs tend to take a more holistic approach to medicine than MDs. In addition, Gupta reports that the number of DOs is growing in the United States, too.

In other words, there is nothing wrong with President Trump using a DO as a primary physician. He may prefer a more holistic method of assessing his health. Or he may just like Dr. Conley’s bedside manner. Who knows? Furthermore, why should anyone care?

Plus, Dr. Conley being a DO doesn’t make President Trump’s negative COVID test any less valid. What it shows, however, is that George Conway is just another NeverTrumper so consumed that he extends his contempt to a group of medical professionals, simply because one of them treats Trump. But as one DO tweeted in response to George Conway:

“If you ever show up at our hospitals, please turn around and seek your nearest top 10% MD.”

Like I said: haters gonna hate. But I still would love to see what goes on in the Conway house, wouldn’t you?

Remember this really just means they have proven to Twitter that that’s really their name, not a ‘handle’.
And, no, I would never give Twitter enough information to verify my identity, either.

    Now, a day later
Not understanding that those two things are not mutually exclusive, nor contradictory, is a sure sign of dementia – TDS version or otherwise.

George Conway is just another NeverTrumper
Honestly, Conway is an idiot, long before TDS comes into the picture. TDS provides a focus.
