Donna Karan, an icon in the fashion world, thinks that Harvey Weinstein is THE MAN!! Yes she really does, even after a week of revelations that put Weinstein and the underworld of Hollywood into the worst kind of limelight. Does she think about or care about the victims? In a word. NO.
“How do we present ourselves as women? What are we asking? Are we asking for it by presenting all the sensuality and all the sexuality?” said Karan during a red carpet interview on Sunday.
Wait WHAT??!! Am I reading that correctly? Is Donna Karan, a major fashion designer of women’s clothing really SHAMING victims of sexual assault??
Why yes, yes she is.
‘Yes, I think he’s being looked at right now as a symbol, not necessarily as him. I know his wife, I think they’re wonderful people, Harvey has done some amazing things. I think we have to look at our world and what we want to say and how we want to say it as well.’
The 69-year-old went on to say that the issue at hand is not solely Weinstein’s fault.
Well…Donna, I’ll say this. What has happened and what is now being uncovered is most certainly Weinstein’s fault. But yes, it is ALSO the fault of everyone EVERYONE who gave him a pass! And yes, Donna, that includes you.
Yes, I know. You are and have been pals with good ole Harvey for years.
That’s all fine and good. Yet sometimes you have to drop good pals and friends because they are just toxic. Given all that has gone on, Harvey is pretty toxic right now, dontcha think?
Furthermore, your shaming of the victims is …well… WRONG. You sit there from your lofty perch and lecture women on the fact that how they DRESSED led Harvey to make one with a potted plant, throw people down on a casting couch wherever he can find it. YOU, the fashion designer who has put out this and called it FASHION??!!
Here’s a glimpse of Donna’s designer outfits across a few of the years.
Do we need to shame Donna? NO. Should we call her out on her hypocrisy? YES. It’s a classic example of Pot. Kettle.
Donna Karan you are a DEPLORABLE Aiding and abetting is a moral crime. You are scum in a fancy dress pic.twitter.com/Vze7lnpdvj

So we can assume that every provocative dress Donna Karan ever manufactured was designed to promote sexual assault? https://t.co/7rHcsKYhg4

OMFG at Donna Karan comments re Harvey Weinstein. Used to love DKNY. Blacklisted for life, victim blaming is never okay.

But wait! Someone tells me that her evening gowns really shouldn’t count! Alrighty then. Let’s take a gander at just a few of her business suits.
Lovely outfits. Seriously, some of what she’s done business suit wise I like and would buy or have bought, on sale mind you!
That said, the more we find out, the more all the general public realizes about how much of an oozing swamp Hollywood/politics have intersected, Donna’s passionate defense of her friend and pal is and should tank her brand.
No seriously, Donna Karan has just told all women that BECAUSE of how you dressed to get that super stupendous acting role or interview, YOU ASKED FOR IT.
Bull…FREAKING…HORSECRAP!
Donna Karan, I don’t know what’s in it for you or what your end game is that you have embarked on turning yourself into a pretzel of adverse morality. A morality that somehow gives you leave to shame reporters, actors, and actresses into accepting that the Hollywood scourge of the casting couch is an upstanding guy. He’s not. You know it.
Donna Karan, SHAME on YOU for trying to make this about the VICTIMS. You had your chance. You showed your LACK of character. Your goal is money and power. Good luck with that.
UPDATE: Donna Karan issues an “apology.”
“My statements were taken out of context and do not represent how I feel about the current situation concerning Harvey Weinstein. I believe that sexual harassment is NOT acceptable and this is an issue that MUST be addressed once and for all regardless of the individual.”
“I am truly sorry to anyone that I offended and everyone that has ever been a victim,” she concluded.
Were her comments REALLY taken out of context?
https://youtu.be/loj9IT9U8A0
No, no they weren’t. The apology was only issued after it became clear that her comments were a PR nightmare.
Cannibalism is the last resort of the left. This one will need extra barbecue sauce.
“I am truly sorry to anyone that I offended and everyone that has ever been a victim,” she concluded…..
Just go away and STFU, Donna Kara….
STILL victim-shaming-blaming.
Exactly. It was a nice bit of wordsmithing that mimics an apology, but really isn’t one
Boy, I sure am glad that Donna Karan is in no way, no how, nowhere designing and displaying any fashions that in any teeny, tiny way “objectify” women and highlight any kind of sensuality or sexuality.
She’s a true, ethical and consistent credit to her ilk — NOT!!
“She/They had it coming, the way she/they were proactively dressed!” said the misogynistic, knucle-dragging, sex-on-the-brain Neanderthal — feminist????
Keep tap dancing, the quicksand is still quite soft….
