Facebook No Longer Calls Lab Leak Theory Crackpot

Did you ever post an article on Facebook which posited that Covid came from that Wuhan lab? Chances are good that FB yanked it, its gang of “fact-checkers” (notice I put that in quotes) calling it “false” or “misleading.”

But those days may be over because Facebook announced that will no longer pull those posts.

That’s because of renewed questioning about the Covid origin, said a Facebook spokesperson.

“In light of ongoing investigations into the origin of COVID-19 and in consultation with public health experts, we will no longer remove the claim that COVID-19 is man-made from our apps. We’re continuing to work with health experts to keep pace with the evolving nature of the pandemic and regularly update our policies as new facts and trends emerge.”

Oh, do tell, Facebook spokes-toady. It wouldn’t be because your Democrat masters have been pressuring you to delete information they didn’t approve of, is it? And now that Joe Biden has ordered intelligence community to — what is the term? — “circle back” and reinvestigate the lab leak theory, you don’t want to be caught with your pants down and your schlong in your hand, do you? Just in case that lab leak theory is correct, amirite?

This is, as Joe Biden once said, “a big fuckin’ deal.” When has big social media ever backed down? Or given any credence to anything conservatives said about Covid? Hell, Facebook even kept a handy list of “false/debunked claims” to punish conservative users and groups who dared challenge the narrative from Democrats or the World Health Organization. Or especially from St. Anthony Fauci, the patron saint of masks and lockdowns.

What’s even worse is that we now find out that the Biden administration had quietly ended researching the lab leak. It’s obvious why they killed it — Mike Pompeo, Trump’s Secretary of State, launched the investigation. And anything from Trump must be erased. Kind of like the ancient Egyptians who obliterated the stone faces of hated pharaohs.

But now? According to State Department spokesman Ned Price:

“The world continues to have serious questions about the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, including its origins within the Peoples Republic of China.”

Price also denied that the Biden administration shut down any investigation. Right, and if you believe that let me interest you in a bridge.

No, the wheels are quickly falling off the Democrat Covid wagon, and the minions are scrambling for cover. As former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said on Wednesday:

“This is the Biden administration today in damage control, for what they actually took was actions against the interests of the American people.”

While Republican communications strategist Matt Whitlock tweeted:

This sequence is a disaster for the White House:
1. Biden quietly ends Pompeo investigation into COVID origins.
2. Experts start to coalesce around Wuhan lab-leak theory.
3. Story breaks that Biden had ended investigation (helping China cover-up).
4. Biden announces 90 day origin probe.

Like Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden’s No. 2 spokesperson, who took the podium on Wednesday in place of Jen Psaki. Media hailed her as the first black woman in 30 years to hold a press conference, as if that’s newsworthy. What’s more significant is that she floundered. When reporters pressed her on just how the administration plans to discover the truth of the Covid origin, she hemmed and hawed about needing to get to the bottom of this, blah, blah, blah. Then she said the Biden administration would continue to work with the World Health Organization.

Excuse me? You mean the same WHO that sucked up to China?

Yep. Not only that, but “WHO is going to continue to work with China on this.” And how do we trust China to cooperate?

“This is something you have to ask the Chinese government.”

Are you fucking kidding me?

Meanwhile, on the Senate floor, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) played cat-and-mouse with Anthony Fauci. Kennedy played the cat, and it didn’t go well for Fauci the mouse.

Classic Kennedy question:

“Can we agree that if you took President Xi Jinping and turned him upside down and shook him the World Health Organization would fall out of his pocket?”

That question made Fauci chuckle, perhaps thinking what a rube this cornpone senator is. But then Kennedy trapped Fauci with this:

“Why did y’all spike the prior administration’s investigation into the origins of the coronavirus and whether it could have come out of the Wuhan lab?”

Naturally, Fauci denied spiking the investigation.

“So they didn’t consult with y’all?”

“No, they did not. . .”

“They just spiked it without talking to their experts?”

Silence.

Big media also did some tap-dancing as well. Like Vox co-founder Matt Yglesias, who finally admitted that yes, the media screwed up the lab leak story. In fact, he called it “a huge fuck-up.”

Not only that, but he actually gave kudos to Sen. Tom Cotton when the senator questioned whether Covid came from the lab:

“Cotton did one thing that those other sources didn’t do — he speculated a little.”

So what did the media do with Tom Cotton? As you recall, they blasted him as a conspiracy kook. But Yglesias took his colleagues to the woodshed:

“This is not to apologize for the bad coverage but, if anything, to underscore how egregious it was to lean so heavily into the Tom Cotton Is Wrong narrative.”

Meanwhile, Jonathan Chait at New York Magazine blamed Twitter for cultivating anti-lab leak groupthink. One person he pointed out was New York Times reporter Apoorva Mandavilli, who tweeted that the leak theory is racist or something. Glenn Greenwald also exposed such nonsense.

Facebook/twitter

Mandavilli deleted the tweet, but as with anything on the internet — it’s forever.

So it’s no wonder Facebook is backpedaling on its censorship of Covid lab leak theory. They see the Democrat narrative collapsing, and they see the media floundering. But they’re not about to get trampled. Expect Twitter and YouTube to follow suit as well.

Seeing Democrats, big media, and big tech hoist on their own petards is delicious. But it won’t bring back the nearly 600,000 Americans who died of Covid. Nor will it bring back lost businesses, or children’s education, or funerals, weddings, and other lost family events. But we Americans deserve the truth, which is something we haven’t gotten from Biden, Fauci, the media, or Facebook.
