Covid testing has ramped up around the country, particularly in Los Angeles.
“Desperately seeking to find a seemingly responsible way to hold dinner parties, some people have started to get tests for the coronavirus as a way to clear themselves to attend dinner parties without needing to wear masks or keep their distance.
That’s absolutely the wrong thing to do, according to Barbara Ferrer, Los Angeles County’s director of public health.
Ferrer said on Monday that she has heard of groups of young adults going to get tested for the coronavirus on a Thursday in hopes of getting the negative results by Saturday morning, and then having a dinner party on Saturday night.””
Given that Governor “do as I say, not as I do” Gavin Newsom has just locked down the entire state and has issued idiotic restrictions on how many are allowed to celebrate Thanksgiving, is it any wonder that people are deciding that getting a negative test is one way to get around Newsom’s turkey bashing?
This from the same governor who announced yesterday that he will rely on data sets from Saudi Arabia to determine the extent of California’s lockdowns. Saudi Arabia, seriously?
Isn’t it interesting that the LA Times article points out that A. one could get a negative test one day, but a positive test just a few days later, and B. that test results are misleading.
Consider Elon Musk’s pointing out the fallacies of his test results as well as singer Erykah Badu testing positive in one nostril and NEGATIVE in the other!
Yet we are being told by our Democrat government official betters that we need to believe THEIR science, you know, because all the mixed messages have worked so well up to now.
What public officials don't seem to realize is that the moment they dismissed large gatherings after endorsing shutdowns, they undermined their ability as experts in the eyes of a great many people.

Four massive funerals for George Floyd, seven months of protests/rioting/looting, Democrats and Democrat leaders celebrating in the streets with ZERO social distancing, lobbyists partying in Hawaii, and more lockdowns have been enacted. Yet we are supposed to trust that our government officials are acting in our best interest?
I hope folks in Houston, Texas are paying attention because a knock on the door might be coming very soon. People wearing yellow vests will be asking for your blood so they can test for virus antibodies. Supposedly, this month’s long effort will accomplish the following.
“Understand what caused COVID-19 to spread in certain areas.
Understand how COVID-19 has spread in Harris County.
Understand how COVID-19 transmission and infection rates differ among communities.
Determine the effectiveness of containment strategies that have been utilized during the pandemic.
Identify the percentage of Harris County residents infected with COVID-19 with no symptoms.
Improve public health messaging to help stop the spread of COVID-19.”
They are doing this even though Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, has a fatality rate of ONE PERCENT. That’s right, ONE PERCENT.
Did anyone go around the country knocking on doors while we were dealing with H1N1? No, and the fatality rates remain much higher than what we are seeing with Covid. But of course, H1N1 was during the Obama Administration, so nothing to see here, quit trying to compare the two because President Trump eleventy!
Secondly, there is something very George Orwellian about the knocking on doors and asking for samples. Houston officials “say” this is voluntary, but it is incredibly disturbing and un-American that this is even a consideration.
Las Vegas has gone a step further.
Our business license officers & compliance ambassadors continue to visit 300 businesses per day every day, to ensure they are following @GovSisolak's recent directive to help keep workers and visitors safe. Learn more: https://t.co/vKbr3Z204m pic.twitter.com/9slLStocT0

COMPLIANCE AMBASSADORS??!! How very….1984 of you! As is now well-known, NY city officials have been acting as “compliance ambassadors” for months now as well. They are little more specific in their targets.
Last night, as thousands of New Yorkers partied in the streets, sheriffs entered this pottery shop, owned by a single mom of five.

Which is why New York City’s Jewish community is pushing back and has gone to the U.S. Supreme Court for assistance.
For businesses in Las Vegas, how many have been fined and it has later been determined that the “compliance ambassadors” were in the wrong?
This virus is here to stay for quite a long time. Yes, thanks to President Trump and Operation Warp Speed, there are two major vaccines ready for the public. However, as noted above, the public’s confidence in what government officials are telling us to do is trending close to or solidly negative.
This newly published study regarding masks, VERY strict quarantine and lockdowns in the New England Journal of Medicine hit’s our state health experts right square in the, we know better than you!
“A recently completed research study by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in cooperation with the Naval Medical Research Center and published in the New England Journal of Medicine has found that strict quarantine, tightly controlled social distancing, and continuous use of masks did absolutely nothing to contain the spread of COVID-19, and might even have increased its spread.”
Read the whole damned thing.
I’m with Rob Schneider on this. The new lockdowns are going to decimate our economy and lead to MORE increases in mental health issues across the spectrum. Covid testing and “compliance ambassadors” all in the name of safety or something!
No thank you and get the hell off my lawn!

Please don’t take offense, just healthy critique: You overuse the term “eleventy.”
I don’t know if it’s just you or all the Victory Girls (I don’t often notice bylines), but it’s become more catchphrase than meaningful content – it tends to zone me out, rather than engage me in the subject matter.
Still love what you girls do. I know you appreciate quality writing, and felt the need to say something.
“People wearing yellow vests” make excellent targets.
“People wearing yellow vests” make excellent POA.
Apparently wearing yellow vests is a trigger phrase for WP.
[…] insidious idea of bringing the already intrusive, Constitutional right crushing, vaccine mandates to one’s Thanksgiving dinner table is entertaining at first blush. Once realized that government […]
