House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) is coming to grips with the bed that Democrats have made and measured for themselves, and are realizing, like many others, that this isn’t going to be a comfortable fit come November.
Clyburn, being both in House leadership and a representative from South Carolina, the next state up for grabs (thankfully in a primary – I must admit that I am very much over all the caucusing issues), was interviewed by George Stephanopoulos this morning. He isn’t sanguine on how having Bernie Sanders, admitted socialist who is really a communist, on the top of the ticket helps the House Democrats in swing districts hang on to their seats.
Talking to ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos from South Carolina, the site of the next Democratic primary contest, Clyburn said that if the Democrats nominate a socialist, it “would be a real burden for us in these states or congressional districts that we have to do well in.”
“If you look at how well we did the last time, and look at the congressional districts, these were not liberal or what you might call progressive districts. These are basically moderate and conservative districts that we did well in, and in those districts, it’s going to be tough to hold onto these jobs if you have to make the case for accepting a self-proclaimed democratic socialist,” he added.”
Oh. Well, maybe Clyburn should take some credit for the Bernie Sanders victories. After all, being in House leadership, it was his actions that paved the way for this.
Let’s take a short trip down memory lane, shall we? Does anyone else remember when the Squad rose to prominence within the Democrat party, despite their loud and proud proclamation of their “democratic socialism?” I do.
Does anyone else remember how there was an attempt to slap down Ilhan Omar’s overt anti-Semitism with a House resolution? I do.
Does anyone else remember how the House Democrats watered down the resolution so much with their “all hate is bad” modifications, so what would have been a rebuke to one Congresswoman turned into a politically correct kumbayah moment? I do.
Does anyone else remember who made excuses for Ilhan Omar’s comments when they happened, signaling to the Squad that they could do and say whatever the hell they wanted, so long as they kept voting with Democrat leadership? I do! That would have been Nancy Pelosi, and…. JIM CLYBURN.

Think of this as a domino effect. These self-proclaimed “democratic socialists” get themselves elected in safe Democrat districts, because the Democrats have been courting the hard left base in order to make sure they can retake the House, and perhaps the White House. But when they showed their true, ugly stripes, the House Democrat leadership failed to stand up to them. When Pelosi, with Clyburn right at her side, didn’t bring the Squad to heel, she gave up control of the Democrat caucus. This allows them to push Pelosi into things that she knows aren’t politically viable, like… impeachment. But they’ve allowed the Hydra to sprout more heads, and decided to enable it, rather than crush it.
The politically enabled Squad, feeling the momentum from their base, goes on to support Bernie Sanders (with the exception of Ayanna Pressley, who supported Warren). These anti-Semites and economic illiterates are “feeling the Bern” as his surrogates all over the country.
And now, Bernie is winning, and Clyburn is having buyer’s remorse. He coddled the Squad and made excuses for Ilhan Omar, and now he wants to act surprised that carrying the label “democratic socialist” might hurt Democrats downticket.
News flash, Representative Clyburn – you helped lay the tracks for the old Soviet express train that you now don’t want to get on. I would tell you to enjoy the ride, but it’s not one I want to see the country go on, either. It’s too bad that you were so politically inept, and blinded by Trump Derangement Syndrome, to realize that you were nursing a viper in your bosom. If the Democrats suffer for it, you have only yourself to blame.

Nominating Bernie is just going to add to the problems Democrats have created for themselves with impeachment. One problem for them is that liberal polling outfits, in an effort to show support for impeachment, skewed their polls to show a lot more support that was really there. The truth is going to shock them. Bernie, on the other hand, is promising things the majority (so far) don’t want.
With all of the cr*p the Democrats have been pulling the last few years, they deserve a self-inflicted wound.
