“If it feels good, do it!” is generally not sound economic policy.
But, then again, who ever thought Governors Jerry Brown and Andrew Cuomo were all about sound economic policy.

Because Hillary is all about making sure she gets on record as supporting this law.

And the law isn’t exactly what it is billed to be.
The law gradually raises the minimum wage to $15 in New York City by the end of 2018. On Long Island and in Westchester County, the wage would rise to $15 by the end of 2021.
The minimum wage would only rise to $12.50 in the rest of the state by 2020, with further increases tied to inflation and other economic indicators.
So leave it to Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown to really throw down the gauntlet and increase California’s minimum wage to $15 statewide by 2022.

“This is about economic justice. It’s about people. It’s about creating a little, tiny amount of balance in a system that every day becomes more unbalanced,” Brown said before signing the bill at the Ronald Reagan State Building in downtown Los Angeles.
I am seriously waiting for Reagan to rise from the grave and slap Jerry Brown.
Republicans and business groups warn that the move could cost thousands of jobs, while a legislative analysis puts the ultimate cost to taxpayers at $3.6 billion a year in higher pay for government employees.
A $15 base wage will have “devastating impacts on small businesses in California,” Tom Scott, executive director of the state branch of the National Federation of Independent Business, said in a statement. “Ignoring the voices and concerns of the vast majority of job creators in this state is deeply concerning and illustrates why many feel Sacramento is broken.”
Democrats who control the Legislature approved the compromise legislation Thursday, days after the agreement was announced. The measure passed with no Republican support.
The bill will bump the state’s $10 hourly minimum by 50 cents next year and to $11 in 2018.
Hourly $1 raises will then come every January until 2022, unless the governor imposes a delay during an economic recession. Businesses with 25 or fewer employees have an extra year to comply.
But hey, today Governor Moonbeam made people happy!!! They are going to be getting paid more, right?
Remember, Seattle has a $15 minimum wage that hasn’t been fully implemented yet, and while the data is still yet to be accumulated and studied over a long period of time, the anecdotal stories are pretty telling. Setting the minimum wage artificially high has benefited some, but locked many others (including teens) out of those starting minimum wage jobs.
But Brown and Cuomo don’t care if it works. They only care that this is “fair” and “just” and all that. Because of course, economic policy should always be about fairness and feelings.
Progressives crack me up. They’re absolutely certain that you can’t legislate morality, but they’re equally certain that you CAN legislate prosperity.
I’m still waiting for one of them to explain where the money is going to come from.
GWB says: Don’t you understand? That money is just burning a hole in the pockets of the rich fat cats who run the business! They’re RICH! They’re all billionaires – and they made that money by taking the food out of poor people’s mouths! They’re RICH, I tell ya! They can take all this extra dough from the obscene profits they make!
I mean, after all, doesn’t money just come from rich people? Like tomatoes come from plants and potatoes come from the ground? And, if we pluck it from them, they’ll just grow more, right?

The one I like best is using a tablet to order and a track on the ceiling that brings your food out on a tray and lowers it to your table. The only person you see is the one who fills the napkin and straw dispensers and wipes the tables. Oh yeah and empties the trash. Thank you ‘progressives’ for putting all the unambitious people who were forced off welfare back in the 90’s took the jobs away from teens and college students and now you put them back there.
Joe Miller says: Economic ignorance in this country is staggering. I heard some lame-brain in Wisconsin on NPR this morning. He was talking about the President reducing the deficit as if that was some kind of achievement. He seemed oblivious to the difference between the deficit and the debt.
