Eric Swalwell’s campaign and reputation (what little he had left of that) is sinking faster than the Titanic. After a slew of sexual assault accusations hit the airwaves yesterday, Democrats and others ran post haste in the opposite direction like rats abandoning the ship.
Rep. Eric Swalwell’s campaign for governor was reeling Friday after two news reports detailed accusations of sexual assault and misconduct, with multiple staffers resigning and both prominent allies and rival candidates calling on the California Democrat to exit the race.
The exodus, which began just before the San Francisco Chronicle published a report detailing a former staffer’s claims, jolted California’s marquee race just weeks before ballots start landing in voters’ mailboxes. The former staffer told the newspaper that Swalwell had sexual encounters with her while working for him, and that he sexually assaulted her twice when she was too drunk to consent.
The report itself is highly disturbing and from what many of us political watchers started seeing earlier in the week, that young lady isn’t the only one that had to deal with Swalwell. In fact, there are at least four women...that we know of.
One woman who connected online with Swalwell over her interest in Democratic politics says she ended up extremely drunk inside his hotel room after a night out with the congressman, with little memory of what occurred. Earlier in the night at a bar, he kissed her and touched her leg without her consent, she said.
Another woman, who described receiving unsolicited nude messages from Swalwell, was social media creator Ally Sammarco. She said she initially reached out to the congressman on Twitter to discuss politics. “I truly never thought he would respond – I had like 1,000 followers at the time,” she said. “And he actually responded.”
Evidently, Swalwell decided to handle things by issuing threatening Cease & Desist letters to his accusers and others over the last few days.

Well, it seems there isn’t just smoke, there’s fire. Or at least the Democrats and Democrat organizations believe there is. And they are running as fast as they can in the opposite direction. One of the first deserters I saw was this guy.
I’ve read the San Francisco Chronicle’s reporting and I take it seriously.

What is described is indefensible. Women who come forward with accounts like this deserve to be heard with respect, not questioned or dismissed.
I regret having come to his defense on social media prior…
Gallego is the very same dude who went on a bare-chested camel jaunt with Eric several years ago, AND kicked his wife to the curb just before she gave birth to their child.
Meanwhile, the CA Teachers Union , who were super thrilled to endorse him just the other week, immediately kicked their endorsement of Swalwell into the gutter. Then, suddenly, the Swalwell campaign endorsement and donation pages have disappeared. Interesting that.
Keep in mind, Eric Swalwell was one of the most vocal asshats during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings.
Eric Swalwell on Brett Kavanaugh's alleged victims: "If he is innocent…I hope he says, 'bring in all the victims, allow them to be heard, allow them to be questioned.' That will clear his name."

His posts on X are coming back to haunt him now.
…When Kavanaugh was asserting his innocence, Swalwell was leading the mob: “more and more cases that are separate and independent, that look the same, pretty soon a prosecutor starts to say to a jury … that the arrows are pointing in the same direction.”

It isn’t just unions and campaign staffers who are deserting him. Major Democrats are drop kicking him to the curb.
Rep. Eric Swalwell’s lead in the race for California governor is taking a huge hit as the Democratic frontrunner began losing endorsements Friday after bombshell allegations of sexual assault.
But the backlash has been so severe it may even cost the congressman his job.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi issued a statement calling for an investigation and suggested that she personally told Swalwell to bow out of the race.
“As I discussed with Congressman Swalwell, it is clear that is best done outside of a gubernatorial campaign,” Pelosi said in a statement released by her spokesperson.
So they are telling him to drop his bid for Governor. But they are NOT telling him to resign from Congress.

The thing is, it isn’t just campaign staffers. It’s is staffers in his office that have also had their own issues with him as well. So, the Democrats who are trying to straddle the fence over this issue may very well end up with additional egg on their faces.
Nice timing. Democrats have known who Swallwell really is for some time. They didn't care because he was a useful idiot to the cause, see Russian dossier etc.

But with a jungle primary and the thought a republican might win and with the D vote split across too many candidates,…
Yes, this isn’t something that just arrived out of the blue. It’s evident that this information has been on numerous radars for quite some time now.
Swalwell has been a useful idiot to the cause. Which is why Democrats aren’t calling for his resignation from Congress. They are thinning the field for the CA governor’s race while leaving him in office…for now.
As for calls for the Democrat party to really hold Swalwell accountable for his actions, don’t hold your breath. It’ll happen when pigs truly do sprout wings and fly.
And…just before this post was scheduled, Eric Swalwell posted this. On his CONGRESSIONAL account. Not his personal nor his campaign account.
Hear it directly from me. These allegations are flat false. And I will fight them. pic.twitter.com/bQSlCquD1U

Listen to his words carefully. He’s essentially admitting there’s a problem, that he created. And thus will be taking the weekend to ‘pause and reflect’ on his sins.
Get your popcorn ready. Next week will be quite interesting in Swalwell land.

Hmmmm. That didn’t work on Clinton or Obama.
Or Biden.
We can cheer his comeuppance, but as pointed out, the Democrats picked him as the scapegoat to ensure one of their own will win the governorship.
Question: will this affect his ability to continue to stink in the Senate? Or will even his lack of residency in CA sink him completely? (My bet, no.)
