I tell you, my shocked face is eligible for retirement. Lo and behold, we find out that the co-chair of the NYC DSA operation is living large in a $1.5 million Brooklyn row home his …parents bought him.
As we’ve reported, Mamdani’s idea to fill the massive funding gaps in the NYC budget isn’t to tighten belts and quit spending on stupid crap. Nope. Instead he preened and pranced around, specifically targeting key billionaires and proclaimed they just don’t pay enough taxes.
Which then led to lists being published that also included homeowners who only own ONE property. Some homeowners, including senior citizens, have owned their single property in the city for well over 30 years. But Mamdani and his DSA socialist pals don’t care about those optics. What they do care about is grifting more and more money from those they’ve decided could afford it.
The co-chair of the NYC DSA has been front and center railing against the billionaires and landlords while advocating for the tax.
Co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America NYC chapter Gustavo Gordillo appeared on Fox News’ ‘The Story’ hosted by Martha MacCallum on Friday and harshly criticized New York landlords and how much they make.
“The problem we’re facing in our housing system is that we talk about tenants and we say, they have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, they have to be responsible financially,” Gordillo said.
“But when we look at the landlords, we don’t use those same standards,” he argued.
“Landlords in New York have been making a 12 percent return on their investment, on average,” Gordillo continued before being questioned by MacCallum as to how much he thought landlords should be making.
Lo and behold, Gustavo has a pied-a-terre problem!
The millionaire parents of a whiny top DSA leader have set up their socialist son in a $1.5 million Brooklyn home — where he lives while railing against the rich and property ownership, The Post has learned.
Gustavo Gordillo, the 38-year-old co-chair of the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, is peddling his anti-capitalist lefty agenda while enjoying the life in the two-story, nearly 2,000-square-foot row home on a gentrifying tree-lined block in Bed-Stuy.
“I wish my family could afford to buy me a million-dollar home,” said local renter Faith Smith, 36 — who called the socialist Yale University grad a hypocrite.
Oh yes, the hypocrisy is off the charts here.
I wonder if @NYCDSA co-chair @unionGustavo's parents will pay the pied-a-terre tax on the rowhouse they bought him in Bed-Stuy (Gustavo *E.* Gordillo is the father of our local Gustavo *L.*). The home showed up on the list Mamdani's office released.

Will Gustavo claim it is misinformation that his parents, who are in the process of selling one million dollar Florida home while residing in a larger $3 million home, own a pricy Brooklyn row home while their sons live there rent free? By their own admission, the parents have also been paying for all the renovations to the place, while previously paying Gustavo’s $2,600 a month rent.
An avowed DSA Socialist is living large off his parent’s dime in New York City while demanding that the rich pay more than their fair share in pied-a-terre taxes.
DSA Socialists are claiming it is past time to make the rich pay their fair share in taxes. Per Mamdani’s instructions, they started with the billionaires. Yet once they run out of that money, the millionaires like Gustavo’s parents will be next.
Socialism always, and I mean ALWAYS demands other people’s money instead of providing their own. And, once that money is gone, it will the poor and middle class left holding the bag.
Now, as is pointed out here, given the current rules Mamdani put in place regarding the pied-a-terre tax, Gustavo’s parents won’t have to pay. Yet. We all know that government loves taxes. The more the merrier.
Thus, if the initial rollout of this tax that will supposedly net NYC $500 million isn’t successful, it’s a fair bet that the goalposts of eligibility will move.
Meanwhile, Gustavo, who has never actually worked as an electrician because he never got past the first year of completing his journeyman’s license, continues to enjoy living off his parent’s money.
That folks, is socialism in a nutshell. Socialists will do everything they can to take a bite out of the American pie without contributing back to a country that has given them immense freedoms and opportunity. The pied-a-terre tax is just one example.
Thanks Democrats. You built this.
