It’s never a dull day when Donald Trump is president of the United States.
There are two fairly significant pieces of news regarding President Trump. One is giving the left fits. The other is giving the right significant heartburn.
First, President Trump was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by a Norweigan parliament member, specifically for his work on the Israel/United Arab Emirates peace deal. You know, the one Joe Biden said he and Barack Obama should have gotten credit for. Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who apparently also nominated Trump for the award in 2018, specifically pointed out the peace agreement, and that the president has not started any other wars.
Mr Tybring-Gjedde praised the president of the Untied States for his efforts towards resolving international conflicts.”
He cited Trump’s “key role” in negotiations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and the conflict between South Korea and North Korea.”
Mr Tybring-Gjedde, who also serves as as chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, told FoxNews: “Trump has broken a 39-year-old streak of American Presidents either starting a war or bringing the United States.”
Of course, this made the left and the media (but I repeat myself) quite annoyed. After all, Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize for simply existing. How dare Trump get a nomination for actually working on peace???
A far-fight Norwegian lawmaker has nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Norwegian Parliament member Christian Tybring-Gjedde said Trump should be considered because of his work between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. https://t.co/hLAcffBdn9

“Far-fight” lawmaker. Okay then. Can’t even type the “slam” out properly. Nice proofreading, AP.
But since this is President Trump we are talking about, the fun is never over. And I use the word “fun,” loosely. You see, Bob Woodward of “Watergate” fame has a new book coming out in October about President Trump. And he has EIGHTEEN RECORDED INTERVIEWS with President Trump, who would apparently just call Woodward up in the middle of night and start talking – about everything.
For the life of me, I do not know how the White House communications team is not just jumping off a cliff right now. At the very least, they are all probably investing in Costco-sized containers of Tums or Pepto-Bismol. And yes, Woodward did these interviews months ago, and is just now starting to drop them in order to sell his new book. Are we all ready for our sneak peek of the October Surprise?
While a lot of the taped material is typical Trump bluster, what the press is focusing in on is their assumed “winning” narrative – COVID, and that the president “didn’t do enough” to fight it.
Trump tells Woodward he played down the threat of the coronavirus.
"I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down because I don't want to create a panic."He also tells Woodward that "plenty of young people" are vulnerable — different from his public message pic.twitter.com/fJZUZtJTIv

This is not going to be easy for the president to explain away or get out of the headlines at all. To be blunt, this stinks. It is one thing to say that you don’t want to cause a panic behind closed doors. It is QUITE A DIFFERENT THING TO SAY IT ON TAPE TO BOB WOODWARD.
This entire election cycle has turned into “how many sticks will you give the other side to beat you with?” Team Biden/Harris are doing quite a great job handing Team Trump multiple sticks. But Trump, out of his own making, has just handed Team Biden a club, which they are more than happy to let the media wield on their behalf. The problem is, the Democrats and the media are guilty of the EXACT SAME THING that Trump is admitting to doing here!
A lot of people can hit Trump for downplaying this. Our national media are not those people. CNN, Vox, NY Times, Buzzfeed, Wash Post all did the same.

And the same thing goes for Nancy Pelosi, Bill de Blasio, and even Joe Biden, who held rallies well into March and blasted President Trump as “xenophobic” for implementing a travel ban from China. The whole point about designating COVID-19 as “novel” meant that NO ONE KNEW what it would do, even the scientists and the “experts” that were being brought out! (Also, China was busy lying its ass off about the whole thing while the WHO covered for them, but no one wants to bring THAT up.) The media, who are equally guilty of downplaying (and now overplaying) COVID-19, will happily beat Trump over the head with this club from now until the debates.
And with the number of sticks being handed out to all concerned parties to smack each other around with, it means the debates become the fulcrum on which everything rests. Just a reminder: if Biden stays awake and upright for the first debate, the media will automatically award him at least a tie, if not the win.

Yippee (am doing cartwheels). About time Trump received recognition for his efforts on the world stage, Included was the North/South Korea dilemma. At least efforts were made for peace, and not just for being a pretty face.
