Greed and envy. Not good looks for the Left, but they are all running with that since SpaceX’s IPO launched Elon Musk into the trillionaire stratosphere. The whining and screeching over the IPO has been something to behold.
David Meier, senior investment analyst at the Motley Fool, said the high demand among the public shareholders — and the relatively small number of SpaceX shares available to buy — materialized into a “nice price bump” on SpaceX’s first day trading.
“I expect the buying demand to remain pretty strong through the summer, as both retail and institutional investors have shown their excitement for the company,” he said.
The company sold a record $75 billion in IPO stock despite the company’s history of losses, including $13 billion since the start of 2023. SpaceX took its business public with an ambitious, even far-fetched slate of business goals, such as putting millions of satellites into space for data centers to power AI from orbit, and establishing a colony on Mars with 1 million inhabitants.
SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell was on-site for the opening of the market at Nasdaq’s bell-ringing in New York.
Earlier Friday, Musk issued remarks from the site of SpaceX’s headquarters at Starbase, Texas.
“It is certainly hard to believe that a little company that started in a warehouse in El Segundo [in California] is now going public with the largest IPO ever,” Musk said. “If people had told me this was going to happen, I was like, ‘Man, you must be smoking some really good crack because I think this company’s going to fail.’”
SpaceX may have had some monetary losses, but we should also remember that, if it weren’t for SpaceX there would be some astronauts STILL stranded in space after the Boeing Starliner debacle.
But now that SpaceX launched its IPO, that jumped at least 20% in price by the end of the day, the left is really having a tantrum. Elon Musk is NOT ALLOWED to make all that money! How DARE HE??!!
And the left immediately launched talking points and videos declaring how this must not stand, and his money must be seized.

Needless to say, all of them are getting dragged into oblivion for their jealousy, greed, and envy. Not only that, but many are, rightfully so, pointing out that all three and the vast majority of the leftist throwing tantrums have NEVER created nor built anything. As Bill Ackmann points out, Elon’s companies are continually reinvesting in order to continue to advance and GROW. All of which adds to economic growth across the entire spectrum.
The left’s envy and greed is also hiding some very inconvenient truths.
One: Elon’s companies pay into Social Security on a regular basis. Why? Because they pay into Social Security for each and every employee. Which, for SpaceX, factors to an average of $10,000 a year per 22,000 + employees!
Two: Many of his employees chose stock options as part of their employment package.

The left is choosing to ignore that Elon’s employment package has now generating a large contingent of millionaires. And those employees are welders, electricians, HR folks, secretaries, maintenance techs, and more.

The left is whining about Elon Musk and demanding he turn over his profits. They are preparing to write legislation to TAKE his money that they have declared isn’t his. The left is definitely showing not only their greed and envy, but their Communist/Socialist stripes.
What they CHOOSE to ignore is that they are posting their grievances across platforms (phones, laptops, Facebook, X) that individuals CREATED. That the leftists are benefitting from using for their tantrums, and that the creators got REALLY rich from.
Elon Musk isn’t allowed to be a trillionaire because reasons. Glen Reynolds captures it perfectly.
But while Greed is a sin, so is Envy. And Elon’s critics envy not just his wealth, but his significance. He is doing great things, and they are not, and they really, really need to feel significant. But they aren’t, and it just kills them. The attacks are about trying to assuage that narcissistic wound more than anything.
Back after Apollo 11, Norman Mailer wrote that Apollo was the revenge of the “squares.” The hippies, with their tie-dye and their music and their psychotropic drugs were trying to bring something into being that humans had never achieved. But in fact it was those squares in their short-sleeve dress shirts and skinny ties, with their crewcuts and slide rules, who actually went and did it. It was unforgivable, and the hippies turned their considerable cultural power toward killing it and making it uncool, and they almost succeeded.
Almost. I have $2 trillion that says they failed.
Which is good news not just for Elon, but for humanity.
The greed and envy is off the charts with these people. Pay attention to what they plan to do next. It won’t be pretty, and it will go against everything that matters with this Republic.

Wfjag says: The people clutching their pearls, like Sanders, Warren and AOC, about Musk making himself a $Trillionaire (and, that’s what he made himself – they didn’t help him do it) have only made one person a $Millionaire (themselves, alone – although Bernie had a little help from his wife who ran a fairly good little college into bankruptcy and took her Golden Parachute on the way out).
It looks like Musk just made at least 4,400 people – most of them working folks – into $Millionaires. Not only has Musk invented industries that didn’t exist while making his fortune, people who have worked for and with him have made fortunes, too.
IMO, any member of Congress should have a 10% annual wealth tax on any increase in their wealth while in Congress and any elective office thereafter, and if thereafter while working as a lobbyist or receiving any income from a foreign government or business. Bernie now has 3 homes. That’s pretty good for someone who’s whole career was been being a politician.
