The results of Tuesday evening’s primary in New York should put fear into the hearts of establishment Democrats. That is, unless you are Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries.

It seems that the Senate Minority Leader and the House Minority Leader, both New Yorkers, have decided to take up residence in the state of denial. The takeover of the New York Democrats by the Democratic Socialists is becoming a growing virus within the party at large. Bernie Sanders is Patient Zero. AOC is his heir apparent. Graham Platner is an example of the spreading problem. Zohran Mamdani, the smug snake oil salesman, is now seen as a political kingmaker in the Democrat Socialist movement. And now New York has three more radical Democratic Socialists that will almost certainly win their races in November. Schumer and Jeffries? They just want to win at any price, and if that means supporting the socialist zombies that are eating establishment Democrats alive, well, then, that’s what they’re going to do!

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) claimed the elections showed “a great united party,” and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) touted his “great working relationship” with Mamdani, while stressing there was still some “work to do” in easing tensions with congressional Democrats.

“We’re seeing tremendous energy from all different areas of our party. You’re seeing centrist energy in Virginia, Iowa, and NJ. Progressive energy in NYC,” Schumer told The Post. “We’re going to harness it all to win in November. Because all Democrats are united in the mission to take back the Senate and defeat Trump.”

But moderate Democratic lawmakers and sources sounded the alarm Wednesday that the Big Apple’s takeover by Mamdani’s socialist allies in deep-blue district races spelled trouble for their party — especially in its antagonism toward Israel — as well as Schumer and Jeffries’ leadership positions.

Both Schumer and Jeffries have lost control of the party, even though they still are in leadership positions. It just seems like they are the last ones to know it.

Mamdani backed former city comptroller Brad Lander and Democratic Socialists of America-endorsed candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier before their defeat of Reps. Dan Goldman (D-NY) and Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), respectively.

Another Mamdani- and DSA-supported candidate, state Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, also won in a race to replace retiring Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) after having supported the city’s seizure of properties from “absentee landlords.”

In a floor speech Wednesday, Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish lawmaker in Congress, declined to comment on the results, attacking Republicans instead while highlighting the four-year anniversary of Roe v. Wade being overturned by President Trump’s Supreme Court nominees.

The Senate minority leader hadn’t endorsed in any of the races, while Jeffries backed Goldman and Espaillat.

Later, Schumer claimed the trouncing of incumbents demonstrated party unity and “enthusiasm in Democrats to beat Trump.” Jeffries claimed he and Mamdani agreed to “strongly disagree” on candidates and “every race is going to be judged on its own merits.”

“This isn’t a case of Jeffries-backed candidates losing. Jeffries is loyal to his members. [Rep. Grace] Meng won, [Rep. Ritchie] Torres won, Goldman lost. Espaillat lost,” a Jeffries insider said. “Not great but not dramatic and will not change the outcome in November when Democrats take the House.”

Hakeem Jeffries might be loyal to other Democrats. Who says those Democratic Socialists are going to be loyal to him?

Imagine this scenario, if you will. Let’s say the Democrats win back the House in November, but by a very narrow margin, thanks to redistricting. Say, maybe only by five seats. Now imagine these new Democrat Socialist representatives, led by AOC, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and other members of the Progressive Caucus, suddenly flexing their control over just a handful of crucial votes during the election of Speaker of the House. Remember all the infighting and the circus atmosphere that Republicans went through to get Kevin McCarthy elected to be Speaker, and then the absolute chaos that ensued when the rules that he had allowed pushed him out, and then almost no one could get enough votes for the gavel until Mike Johnson became the consensus candidate? Hakeem Jeffries is no Nancy Pelosi, and she won’t be there in the next Congress to back him up. He does not flex power the same way, and he could very well end up being dragged through an equal amount of mud just to achieve his dream of being the first black Speaker of the House. And then he might not be able to hang on to the gavel for long, especially if his fellow “Democrats” decide that he isn’t standing up to President Trump in just the way they want.

And as for Chuck Schumer, he’s up for re-election in 2028. And there will be a target on him for being Jewish and a (nominal) supporter of Israel. John Fetterman, the last sane Democrat in government, hit the nail squarely on the head.

Anti-Israel.

Anti-America.

Anti-Western Civilization.

Fetterman went on to elaborate this further to Greta Van Susteren. The Democrat party is being consumed alive by Democrat Socialist zombies who hate Israel more than anything else.

Schumer knows that someone like AOC, if not the congresswoman herself, is going to attempt to run to his left and primary him in this next Senate campaign. And the DSA is likely preparing for that right now. The New York Post’s editorial board pointed out the obvious – Democrats are letting themselves get eaten by the zombie left.

New York’s establishment Democrats got eaten alive Tuesday night — and they did it to themselves.

Worse, the national party has the same problem.

Heck, Brooklyn’s Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the top two Dems in Congress, just got humiliated in their own backyard — and radical candidates across the country are declaring they’ll demand new House and Senate leaders once they win.

Other “moderates” across the nation may go along with the Democratic Socialists just to stay off the hit list: That’s what Gov. Kathy Hochul has done by appeasing Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

He kept up his end of the bargain by not backing a lefty primary challenge to the gov — but he’s now greatly upped the DSA’s power in Albany with victories in legislative races to match Tuesday’s sweep of three House contests.

Hochul has been telling moderate Dems she can hold back the socialists; she’s now betrayed them — a damning repeat of Andrew Cuomo’s years as gov.

All the establishment losers figured they had it easy in safe Democratic seats: Just keep up the Orange Man Bad schtick; continue burning taxpayer money to feed your nonprofit and union allies; never call out the absolute lunacy pushed by the far left.

Having let its own turnout operation and neighborhood roots decay, the establishment couldn’t even manage to motivate non-fanatic voters to turn out Tuesday to stave off the Marxist Wave.

It got fat, then got eaten.

The Democratic Socialists are running with that magical “D” after their names, and then gutting out the party and wearing its skin like Buffalo Bill. And by the time the knives come out for Schumer and Jeffries, there will be no one left to stop them. The appeasement has not worked, and now they will force those in leadership like Jeffries, and those wanting to keep their Senate seat like Schumer, to bend the knee, kiss the ring, and perhaps they will be the last ones standing. The reality is that they will be the last ones eaten.

And the last one standing will be John Fetterman, because he is the only one with the guts to point out why everyone else got eaten.
