More and more evidence is coming out that the Broward County Sheriff’s office was derelict in its duties during the Parkland massacre. We know that school resource officer Scot Peterson had not a single hair on his balls to engage the shooter, even though he was the only one armed and with the means to stop Nikolas Cruz, and hid outside the school while the latter was murdering children. We know that pathetic leftist bureaucrat sheriff Scott Israel knew that four of his coward deputies refused to engage, because obviously the vulnerable, disarmed kids they were supposed to be protecting weren’t worth as much as the deputies’ pathetic hides.

We know that Scott Israel shrugged the failures of his department off even as parents grieved and the nation mourned, and refused to take any responsibility for those failures. And we now know that the Broward County Sheriff’s Department responded to many more calls about Nikolas Cruz than they initially admitted to.

Broward County sheriff’s officials said in a statement late Saturday that they responded only to 23 calls involving suspected Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz or his family over the years, but records obtained by BuzzFeed News show at least 45 responses since 2008.

The number of calls made over the years involving Cruz or his family, according to the call records, are nearly twice the number publicly disclosed by the department.

Despite all these failures, the repugnant, jug-eared bureaucrat who runs that department refuses to resign.

Florida Governor Rick Scott is calling for an independent investigation of the culture of evasion of accountability, ignorant entitlement, and cowardice in that office, and calls are growing for Israel to resign.

And yet…

The chorus of tone deaf leftist cowards is growing ever louder, demanding that law-abiding citizens be disarmed and that teachers be prohibited from defending their classes and the kids left in their care with the most effective tools, leaving ignominious cowards like Scot Peterson and his pals the only ones capable of – but certainly not willing to – defend the vulnerable.

Rely on the police, says the National Association of School Resource Officers. They certainly oppose giving teachers the option to be armed, because you know, they did such a stellar job defending the students and teachers of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Only police and military should have guns, says some mental defective from San Diego. “Repeal and replace the Second Amendment.” Because four police officers certainly were effective hiding outside the school while kids died.

Leave defense to the professionals, claim the gun grabbers. Because teachers whom you trust with your children the entire day may just go berserk and shoot your kids because they’re racist or stressed and shouldn’t be trusted to carry a gun, but pusillanimous cops whose job it is to protect and serve the public, and who hid outside refusing to engage the gunman at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, should be the only professionals who are to be entrusted with firearms.

Liberal logic dictates that this guy is more qualified to carry firearms than any of the hundreds of teachers who have been carrying concealed firearms in Utah for more than a decade without a single fatality.

He’s the only one in this room professional enough that he knows of to carry this Glock 40.

But this is the guy the gun grabbers insist should have firearms, and not you.

In Independence, MO, an armed hero rushed to the defense of his family and at least 30 other would-be victims as a gunman threatened him at a Dollar General store a couple of weeks back.

The Independence man ran to the store shortly before 6 p.m. and saw the gunman pounding on the glass door. Inside, his wife, 4-year-old adopted daughter and about 30 others huddled together, terrified, toward the back of the store. His wife hid the girl behind bags of dog food.

Becker said he put his body between those inside and the gunman.

“The only thing in my mind was my baby and wife,” he said. “There was no way the gunman was getting in that store.”

When the police arrived, Becker put his gun down, put his hands up, and complied with the officers’ orders. They proceeded to shoot him anyway.

Because only police should have guns.

Another armed hero stopped a mass shooting in Amarillo, TX a few days ago. The police showed up, and shot him.

But only police should have guns.

Corrupt cops in Illinois are doing time for stealing and dealing drugs.

But you should rely on the police to protect you. They’re issued halos along with their badges and guns, right?

In Tennessee, a sheriff is being sued for excessive force after a recording revealed he instructed officers to shoot a man rather than damage police cars by running him off the road.

“They said ‘we’re ramming him,’” Sheriff Oddie Shoupe of White County said on tape in the aftermath of the killing of suspect Michael Dial. “I said, ‘Don’t ram him, shoot him.’ Fuck that shit. Ain’t gonna tear up my cars.”

Shoupe arrived on the scene shortly after police had shot Dial at the conclusion of a low-speed chase, clearly upset he had missed the excitement.

“I love this shit,” Shoupe said, apparently unaware that his comments were being picked up by another deputy’s body-worn camera. “God, I tell you what, I thrive on it.

Yeah? Fuck that shit. I’ll handle my own safety, thanks. I certainly don’t want shitbags like this having a monopoly on force!

Some of them accept bribes from narcotics kingpins. Some are involved in massive numbers of racial profiling incidents. Some of them negligently discharge their firearms, endangering themselves or others.

And while we know and acknowledge that police officers on the whole are not to blame for the misdeeds of the rotten among them, we also know they are certainly human, and human beings run the gamut from hero to slime. The gun grabbers, however, insist that only police should have guns, while the rest of us wait for them to show up and hope and pray that they have the balls to engage, and that they don’t shoot us instead of the bad guys.

And if you’re wondering why morally bankrupt Scott Israel wants to ensure you remain disarmed and vulnerable to armed predators, you only have to examine his own words.

“If you’re an elected official, and you want to keep things the way they are, and not do things differently, if you want to keep the gun laws as they are now, you will not get re-elected in Broward County,” Israel said Thursday night to cheers, as locals grieved the 17 victims killed a day earlier.

Are these the people you want running around armed, while you’re left defenseless and entirely dependent on their corrupt incompetence?
