Dem Rep Praises China, Blames Trump for Deaths

You’ve probably never heard of Dem Rep Sean Casten from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. But in November, he’s facing a stalwart conservative for his House seat. After his comments at a recent town hall, he deserves to go down in electoral flames.

Naturally, the COVID pandemic is on everyone’s mind these days. However, Illinois and in particular Chicago has a rapidly growing number of cases, so Casten discussed the issue in an electronic town hall last month. But did he talk about the need for social distancing, or washing hands, or remind his constituents that we’re-all-in-this-together? Forget all that—Casten praised the Communist Chinese for their handling of the virus.

“China, to their credit, once they realize they had a problem, shut down the entire province that this was in and they seem to have largely isolated the cases in China. We have missed that window in the United States.”

Of course we “missed that window” because Donald Trump is President. Gotcha.

Casten also got a question from a constituent asking him about the origins of the outbreak, but the Dem Rep waved it off. That’s trivial stuff, he insisted.

“The best estimate is that it did move into people from the wet market of China. But once that virus was out there, it’s sort of trivial that it came from China.”

Never mind, move along. Because in addition to Casten being a Dem Rep, he’s worked as a scientist. He has degrees in molecular biology, biochemistry, and biochemical engineering. He knows things! Don’t doubt him!

Now Casten may have scientific knowledge, but that just makes it worse, doesn’t it? Why does he continue to shill for the Chinese Communists? Surely with that brain of his packed full of Science! he should question China’s blatant lies, shouldn’t he?

For example: As for the Chinese having “largely isolated the cases,” why did Sen. Tom Cotton note that a single mortuary in Wuhan recently ordered more funerary urns over a two day period than the number of deaths China reported for the entire nation?

Moreover, how does Casten trust what China says after the disappearance of a doctor who reported the illness? Dr. Ai Fen, head of emergency at Wuhan Central Hospital, spoke out to other doctors about the mysterious SARS-like virus she saw. The Chinese Communist party reprimanded her, and she pushed back in an article in China’s People. The article is now missing. Unfortunately, so is Dr. Ai Fen.

How does Dem Rep Casten excuse the untimely vanishing of a fellow scientist?

Finally, isn’t Casten — scientist that he is — the least bit curious about an emerging theory that SARS-CoV-2 didn’t come from that wet market? Instead, there’s circumstantial evidence — from a Chinese scientist no less — that the virus may have come from a laboratory near Wuhan. Again, there’s no concrete proof of this, but as a scientist, shouldn’t Casten be the least bit intrigued?

Nope. Instead, the Dem Rep wants to shut down President Trump’s press conferences. He says the briefings are “getting people killed.” As he tweeted on March 27 in a lengthy thread:

No, what’s killing people in this nation and worldwide is a deadly virus that came out of China. A virus that China refused to acknowledge until it could no longer contain it. That China still continues to lie about to this day. And that Sean Casten, Dem Rep that he is, continues to lie about, too.

Funny, I thought that the Wuhan virus causing pneumonia was killing people. But what do I know, I’m just a plastics chemist.

So Castens is an agent for the Chinese Communist Party. The only question is he a paid agent or is he doing it of his own free will?

One item you missed (from Instapundit):
the origin of the outbreak was irrelevant since “viruses don’t know borders.”
Ummmm, as a “scientist”, I’m afraid he appears to have been a social promotion graduate. Since this virus really doesn’t survive for long outside a human (or bat!) host, it absolutely “knows” borders. If you stop all the people who have the virus in one country from moving to an adjacent country before anyone in that adjacent country is infected, then you will have stopped the virus. Cold.
    Casten, you don’t know jack.

    Media: stop spreading lies.
Well, on this one, I agree with Casten. Of course, that’s not really what he means, so….

Apparently, he went to the same university as AOC. Degree programs just don’t seem to be as educataional as they once were.
