Look, I’m not a fan of David Hogg. I firmly believe that his scowling foul mouthed anti-NRA schtick was old the first time he opened his mouth. He is being enabled by his parents and encouraged by the leftist mobs who want to destroy our Republic. That said, whomever SWATTED his house needs to be found and jailed ASAP.
The family of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg was “swatted” Tuesday morning, causing police to respond to their Parkland home.
A call came into the Broward Sheriff’s Office claiming a hostage situation at the home.
Coral Springs Fire Rescue arrived at the scene to find there was no hostage situation and the call was a prank.
Hogg was not home at the time of the incident and is currently in Washington, DC with his mother to accept the RFK Human Rights award.
I’ll delve into the RFK Human Rights award bit another time. What’s important here is the SWATTING incident.
Hoax SWAT call to the home of Stoneman Douglas survivor & gun law activist David Hogg. @jweinsier reports: BSO called saying someone had taken people hostage. This was a swatting call & IS NOT TRUE. There is a major law enforcement presence at their Parkland home. @WPLGLocal10 pic.twitter.com/0dXcQc59fJ

I don’t care how it’s spun, to call this a ‘prank’ is disingenuous.
Celebrities, district attorneys, politicians, and ordinary people have been SWATTED. Currently there are approximately 400 or so SWATTING calls a year around the U.S. Last December, due to the inhumanity and cruelty of a scumbag in LA, an innocent man, Andrew Finch, was killed in Wichita, KS because the scumbag called in a SWATTING call. Kim wrote about the little punk here.
Whoever did this needs to be found and put in jail. What an awful thing to do. It happened to my family several years ago. It is not funny. https://t.co/aF9gmriVtD

So again, while I’m not a fan of David Hogg, SWATTING is absolutely unequivocally WRONG.
As we have seen this is how people get shot. The person who perpetrated this hoax should be arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to the maximum penalty allowed by law!
— Steve Buckland (@SteveBuckland4) June 5, 2018
Agreed! However, things have taken a slightly weird turn. David Hogg’s reaction to the news is … ODD. Very very ODD.
If you didn’t quite hear what he said, transcript below.
“I think it’s really a distraction from what we’re trying to fix here,” Hogg told Liane Morejon. “Which is the massive gun violence epidemic in this country.”
I beg your pardon??!!! He even repeated that to other news outlets such as ABC.
“It’s not going to take our focus off what we’re super excited about; the March for Our Lives bus tour to get young people to vote and promote gun law reform,” he told ABC News Tuesday.
Are you as dumfounded as I am???!!
Yeah, that was my reaction as well. You see, incidents like this end up leaving those on the receiving end of a SWAT hoax terrified beyond belief. Especially when there is a likelihood of someone being shot. Or in the case of the incident last December, where a MAN DIED. Remember that when anyone including David Hogg tries to pass this type of crap off as a prank.
If someone swatted my house, the last thing I'd be doing is 1) calling it a silly prank trying to downplay the attempted murder someone just pulled on me and 2) pivot to my "cause."
— RBe (@RBPundit) June 5, 2018
Hogg's reaction is not that of a normal person.
Something's up.
— RBe (@RBPundit) June 5, 2018
RBe is correct, his reaction is NOT normal. David dismisses this as a prank and says is a freaking DISTRACTION from his cause. What in the hell?
The fact that Hogg is calling someone who swatted his home “a silly prank” is concerning.
There is nothing “silly” about this unless it was done for publicity purposes. And even then, it is still a horrific abuse of police resources.
Nothing “silly” here. https://t.co/KwyFC3j9M1

Hogg’s dismissive stance regarding the incident is also troubling because of the resources expended to identify it as a hoax.
BREAKING: Hoax emergency call at Parkland student activist, David Hogg, home. Family not in town. 12 members of SWAT combed through home. Kids at nearby school put on lockdown. @DanNBC6 live there at 11 on @nbc6 pic.twitter.com/YIrHQBohKZ
— Sheli Muñiz (@SheliNBC6) June 5, 2018
That’s right. A school was put on lockdown. 12 members of the BSO SWAT team combed through his home while additional officers and emergency personnel from Coral Springs and other agencies stood by at the ready.
But David Hogg waves this off as No biggie??!!! It is indeed puzzling that that is his reaction to something that could’ve turned deadly in an instant.
No matter which way one looks at it, SWATTING is dangerous and very wrong. It doesn’t matter what the motive was, the situation could’ve been far more deadly than it ended up being. Let’s hope the authorities are able to track down and identify the SWATTER and arrest him before he can SWAT someone else.
Call me a conspiracy nut if you will, but I don’t think the investigation will end up needing to be all that far reaching (not that I have the slightest confidence that the political hack scott israel or any of the rest of the Coward county sheriffs office!), but I think that if a proper investigation is actually done, it will turn out that camera hogg, or one of the hoggettes will be the ones behind it… I thought that as soon as I read the title, and then his “reaction” to it all just made my suspicions even greater. I don’t trust this kid or his leftist parents to be honest about anything, and I wholeheartedly believe that he and they would do absolutely anything to advance their “cause”…
The fact that no one was home is telling, as are the comments by the caller. Hogg’s 15 mins of fame were petering out.
HMMM, why don’t I recall such a strong response when conservatives / gun owners were SWATTED?
Merle
Hogg swated himself…
…either by design or stupidity.
Word is nobody was home at the time. Also, the 911 system would know the origin of the phone call. So cops surely know who made it and from where. The fact that they aren’t disclosing the ID of the caller suggests it was either Hogg himself or one of his teen associates seeking yet more attention. Hogg’s downplaying of the incident suggests the cops know he was behind it.
You bring up a lot of good points. And yes, I’m finding Hogg’s response… as we say Down Under … ‘very suss.’
the phone system’s ability to identify where calls come from is somewhat more limited in this day and age than public safety officials would like you to believe. the folks engaging in SWATings are quite familiar with loopholes. unfortunately it doesn’t seem like the SWAT teams or those deploying them are aware of the issue.
Also think it will turn out to be a publicity stunt, cloaked in “proof” of why we need gun control.
Looks like all the media attention worked. The Broward County police entered the building and cleared it, instead of waiting outside. Since I don’t doubt the dedication of the cops themselves, I wonder if there’s been a change of policy directed from the top. Nice to know that the police there will be allowed to do what they are supposed to do.
Odd, yes.
On the ‘911 will know the source of the call…’ Most swatting incidents involve VOIP calls which are notoriously hard to trace. (The voip number uses a number generator so it looks ‘legit’.)
It will take a bit of cyber forensics to determine who sent the call.
Fortunately, the FBI (yes, I know, but there are good guys and gals still) has gotten fairly aggressive on swatting especially after the death in KS.
With luck they’ll track the perpetrator.
I’m going to give the Hoggs enough brain credit that they did not do the swatting themselves.
Evens gets you odds, however, based on his reaction it was planned.
And it will be interesting to see what the subject has to say with two Fibbies offering him/her a plea deal…
Look, he’s a kid. I have no more faith in his understanding of and appreciation for the seriousness of SWATting than I do in his “insightful” thoughts on gun control.
Reminded of the the old joke “Teenagers! Move out of the house and out from under your parents NOW while you still know everything!”
I don’t take children’s views as gospel. They may sometimes have intelligent comment and insight, but that’s not the way to bet.
I wanted to expound on this event; but everyone else has done a better job of it…..put me down in the category of “Hogg did it to himself”.
Wonder if I could coin a new word….Hoggism……this event smacks of hoggism; on the surface it presents as legit; but drill down and you get the stink.
Steve
qui bono… who benefits?
Hogg‘s reaction is not that of a normal person.
FIFY
Kids at nearby school put on lockdown.
Not a good look for you, Hogg.
[…] There’s a lot of bloggers on the right noting that Hogg’s reaction is odd. I wouldn’t go so far as saying it was staged, but I’ll agree that it smells fishy, much like everything else in Broward County. […]
He found out about the event from an unidentified friend of his who called him with the news.
You would think, maybe, that he would have found out about it from his parents who would likely have been called by the police after they broke into and searched their home.
Dollars to donuts that he’s behind it or knew it was coming. It’s a mini-Reichstag fire, so he can blame his opposition and demonize them.
Anyone suggesting Hogg did this himself, is not very bright.
Hogg’s reaction? Not unusual. The kid literally knows nothing about anything. Not sure he really understands it.
You’re right about the last part of your post, as to the first part, like everyone here, you’re entitled to your opinion
This was a publicity stunt by Hogg himself. He knew itvwas losing the limelight!
Andrew Finch wants to know why the results were not the same as in his case.
[…] …that David Hogg swatted his own house. […]
