#Chicago Violence Continues With 9 Dead Over Weekend, Including 7 Year Old

If strict gun control would truly solve everything, then why is Chicago such a violent wreck? Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, 9 people were killed and 44 wounded within the city.

The most publicized murder is that of 7 year old Amari Brown, who was out watching fireworks when he was shot and killed.

Amari Brown was standing on the sidewalk with his father watching a fireworks spectacle just before midnight in the 1100 block of North Harding in the Humboldt Park neighborhood when gunfire erupted, striking Amari and a 26-year-old woman, police said. Both victims were shot in the chest.

The boy’s father said he thought the sound of gunfire was just fireworks, and he didn’t realize Amari had been shot until he called out for him.

Police have announced that whoever shot and killed Amari was probably intending to shoot and kill his father, Antonio Brown.

And despite the ongoing “Black Lives Matter” chant by activists, apparently the taking of this life doesn’t matter much to Antonio Brown.

Antonio Brown, who police say is a ranking member of the Four Corner Hustlers street gang, has been arrested 45 times on charges ranging from gun possession to burglary, and is not cooperating with detectives in their investigation into the slaying of his son, Amari Brown, police said.

In discussing the death of 7-year-old Amari, (Chicago police commissioner Garry) McCarthy called the boy “the unintended victim of a bullet that was meant for his father” who has had “numerous and frequent encounters with the police.”

McCarthy also held up a bundle of paper to show reporters as he spoke at a podium. He said it was Antonio Brown’s arrest history.

“Quite frankly, I’ve never seen anything like this,” McCarthy said. “I don’t know how many pages it is. It’s probably about 22 pages long.”

Brown’s lawyer, Donna Rotunno, also made comments to the press.

She said she has advised her 29-year-old client to cooperate with the police “in any way that he can.” And while she said she’s willing to join him for a conversation with investigators, she said she can’t force him to have it.

“There is still an unbelievable distrust between certain communities and the police,” Rotunno said.

If McCarthy is right, Rotunno said her client remains a target. And she said, “I’m sure there’s a level of fear associated with speaking to the police based on the fact that he is a target.”

Oh, so there IS a life that matters to Antonio Brown. That would be his own.

Chicago’s long and ongoing effort to impose strict gun control is a joke when a gang member with 45 arrests and a pending charge for gun possession is out on bail. And there is a strong possibility that someone returned fire when Amari was shot. Could that possibly be the person who is out on bail at the moment for gun possession?

Bullet casings were found down the block from where Amari and a surviving victim, a 26-year-old woman, were shot in the 1100 block of North Harding Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood shortly before midnight.

But police have also said that bullet casings were found around where Amari and the woman were shot, creating the possibility that someone had returned fire.

There will never be justice for Amari Brown if his father has anything to do with it. The violence in Chicago will not stop until the gun laws that are on the books are actually enforced. And the cries of “Black Lives Matter” grow strangely dim and silent when the narrative cannot be pushed.

    Non-exploitable lives don’t matter.

Rather, they’re just so much background noise (all pun intended) in the making of the American Socialist Omelet.
