Abortion Haunts Kansas 3rd District Midterm

In August, the state of Kansas rejected a state constitutional amendment that would allow the legislature — not an unelected state supreme court — to decide abortion issues. You’d think we would move on, but no. Rep. Sharice Davids (D) of KS-3 continues to lie that her Republican opponent, Amanda Adkins, wants to outlaw abortion in the state. Plus, Adkins wants a federal law outlawing the practice as well, says Team Davids.

About KS-03

When coastal urbanites hear the name of “Kansas,” they probably think of endless flat wheat fields, cows, and the Wizard of Oz. That’s only a partial truth, however. Kansas Congressional House District 3 contains part of urban Kansas City, Kansas; suburban Johnson County, and three more rural counties. Since it’s also adjacent to Kansas City, Missouri, Johnson County’s population is dense and growing rapidly. The county is also very prosperous.

But that doesn’t mean it’s free from the problems Joe Biden has foisted upon the rest of the nation. While gas prices in the district are nowhere near those in California, they’re still double what they were two years ago. Food prices have soared; a local grocery store chain features “fuel-saver” bonuses on select products for shoppers when they purchase gas at their stations.

And while the area isn’t as crime-ridden as in KCMO, crime has gone up 4% in Overland Park, KS. Ring doorbell apps often feature nervous residents posting questions wondering if they heard gunshots or not. And this sign appeared at a local large suburban shopping mall:

Personal collection.

So yeah, Republican candidate Amanda Adkins, a Kansas business woman and healthcare innovator, knows these struggles. Her campaign defines her as a “Builder. Believer,” and this is the focus of her campaign for KS 03. Adkins appeared on Fox News early in September to discuss how she’s zeroing in on financial issues.

Clearly Amanda Adkins is putting the abortion issue behind her. Not so for the incumbent representative Sharice Davids, however.

Sharice Davis is Still Harping on Abortion

Amanda Adkins is correct about Davids: according to FiveThirtyEight, Sharice Davids has voted with Joe Biden 100% of the time while he’s been in office. Plus, according to ProPublica, she and Nancy Pelosi have voted identically in the House.

Clearly Sharice Davids cares more about voting with liberals than taking care of her constituents’ concerns. But boy howdy, does she love the abortion issue!

The left bias website Kansas Reflector reported that the perennial pro-abortionists at Emily’s List are urging the media to report “accurate reporting of Amanda Adkins anti-abortion record.” While Adkins “says she opposes a federal ban on abortion” she “has long held anti-abortion views,” claims Emily’s List. So they found 79 allies of Davids to demand that media present a “complete and accurate picture” of Adkins’ beliefs.

Oh dear. Amanda Adkins has long opposed the vile practice of killing one’s unborn child. Better break out the red Handmaid Tales garb with the Pringles potato chip caps. Never mind that Adkins clearly said she doesn’t support a Federal ban on abortion.

Okay, said Davids at a recent debate with Adkins. Maybe Amanda says she isn’t for a ban, but she holds views that could lead to banning it, even for rape and incest (the two incidents that pro-aborts constantly trot out).

Adkins responded:

“Your comments are dishonest and deceptive. I am a pro-life candidate, I have been pro-life my entire life, but I have been very clear. I have now been interviewed almost 15 times in media on this issue, and I have said the federal government does not have a role and I therefore do not believe that the federal government should push a congressional ban on abortion.”

Sharice Davids, the month of August is calling. It wants its abortion issue back. That’s because a New York Times/Siena College survey released last week shows that the economy and inflation are at the top of concerns for an overwhelming number of likely voters. Abortion? It ranks far behind at 5%. Another poll, from Monmouth University, found that a whopping 82% of Americans felt that inflation was extremely or very important. Plus, an NPR/Marist poll showed that inflation was also the top issue for voters.

But what else does Sharice Davids have? She has nothing else, especially when it comes to Kansans and their troubles with making ends meet. So she digs up the old abortion canard, hoping that Kansas voters in the 3rd Congressional District won’t notice the elephant in the room.

It’s time for Kansans to send Amanda Adkins to Washington, and send Sharice Davids packing.
