The House To Vote On Reopening Federal Government

The bipartisan deal to end the 42-day government shutdown advanced through the House Rules Committee overnight, with all Republicans supporting the measure and all Democrats against.

The vote will take place as early as 4 p.m., per the notice, which forecasts multiple votes.

Among the notables from the events yesterday were House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who vowed to fight the package because, he’s a “fighter” and that’s what the Democrats do.

We want to reopen the government. We’ll continue to stand by our hardworking federal employees and civil servants. But we have a responsibility to make sure that we extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits so that tens of millions of Americans don’t experience dramatically increased health care costs that’s going to prevent them from being able to see a doctor when they need one.”-Hakeem Jeffries

And, fund benefits for the illegals. But, yeah. “Now they big mad.”

And, how can we forget the back and forth between Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) and Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC)?

ANSARI: Thank you, Madam Chair. Welcome back from your eight weeks of taxpayer-funded vacation. It’s good to see you, and I hope–

FOXX: I’m gonna interrupt you. I’m gonna interrupt you, please. I am sick and tired of hearing you all say we had an eight-week vacation.

ANSARI: That’s exactly what happened.

FOXX: I worked every day. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to hear another soul say that!

ANSARI: I worked every single day, and that’s exactly what happened with Speaker Mike Johnson.

FOXX: You’re recognized.

ANSARI: I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves while American families looked at their letters from their health insurance companies, terrified that their insurance premiums were going to double or triple while the House was out of session for 53 days. That is unacceptable.

Spoken like a true Kilmar Abrego Garcia fangirl, I’d say. The force is strong with Ms. Ansari:

The tantrums and the gaslighting continue. Gavin Newsom:

I’m not coming in to punch anybody in the face. But I’m not pleased that, in the face of this invasive species that is Donald Trump, who’s completely changed the rules of the game, that we’re still playing by the old rules of the game. And in my core, I’m stunned.”-Gavin Newsom

Says the man, with the very punchable face, who dined on a $500-per-plate dinner and fine wine during COVID when some Americans were jobless. What “core”, Gavin? You’re a soul-less, spineless, prick. You have no core.

Did we mention he said this while at the COP30 UN Climate Conference in Brazil? Gavin Newsom cares so much about the Californians who almost lost their SNAP benefits that he hopped on a private jet to a UN climate conference. This is how out-of-touch these people (and the people who vote for these people) actually are.

So, while Jeffries says he “supports hardworking federal employees” and Yassamin Ansari accuses GOP lawmakers of “taking an 8-week vacation”, the Dems voted 15 times to starve children and not pay air traffic controllers. They were content to let SNAP benefits lapse and forego safety in the skies. THEY were content to blow everything up over Obama’s legacy and frivolous spending on their pet projects. The resolution was in their faces. They turned their noses up at this. The egg is on their faces.

Democrats will continue to try and paint this as a failure of the Trump Administration and Republicans. And, where, oh where, was Chuck Schumer on Veterans’ Day?

In a word: Oooof.

The lack of any concrete result explains why so many Dems and their media megaphones are spitting mad at the outcome and are calling for Schumer’s head.

He was the chief proponent of the shutdown, and got next to nothing except a major black eye for himself and his party.

His calculation was so off the mark that even much of the media didn’t play along this time because it was so obvious Dems were fixated only on rescuing ObamaCare and that Republicans were determined to say no.

Even in Washington, blaming the GOP for refusing to fund something they said they were never going to fund had zero logic or persuasive power.”Michael Goodwin, The New York Post

So, THEY BIG MAD.

Today may very well get very interesting. As always, stay tuned.

Someone needs to explain to Mr. Jeffries that the ACA, wait for it……, did, in fact, dramatically increased health care costs that’s going to prevent them from being able to see a doctor when they need one.

But it won’t do any good because he already knows that and knew it when they passed it.
