Last evening, the Senate passed a stopgap spending bill to avoid a government shutdown and annoying the electorate before the midterms. It’s too late for the idiot dingleberries. We are seriously annoyed with the elected incompetents. About ninety percent of these twatwaffles couldn’t order an egg salad sandwich at the Capital Grille, if an aide didn’t hand him/her a note. Federal funding, my Aunt Fanny.

The pissants passed the stopgap spending measure in a bipartisan fashion. Do tell, Politico:

The Senate’s stopgap funding bill to avert a shutdown Oct. 1 has cleared the first procedural hurdle, putting it on track for passage before lawmakers leave for the August recess.

Senators voted 89-4 to advance the measure, which would fund federal agencies through Dec. 11 at current levels, with some exceptions.

Wow, 89-4. More:

“It is a strong bipartisan piece of legislation, and I hope it will receive overwhelming support from both parties in the Senate,” Majority Leader John Thune said in a Monday floor speech.

Senate passage would up a potential battle with the House, because the stopgap measure the House passed two weeks ago has key differences from the Senate version. Identical versions must be passed to actually avert a shutdown at the end of the fiscal year.

The Senate measure includes language to bar the Trump administration from putting into action a plan to make political appointees in charge of approving grants, a prohibition that would last for the length of the stopgap. It also has language sought by Democrats to ensure Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement don’t get any new funding under the patch.

“The bill allows us to continue negotiating a budget that won’t leave working families behind,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday.

Pardon me, but I am doubled over with laughter at Schumer uttering the words “working families”. The only working families Chuck U. knows mow his lawn and grill his burgers. Remember his raw burgers with cheese on the grill? Seriously.

Seriously. I know that it was contentious during the founding of our country but these Senators couldn’t make a budget with tons of aides and notes and an outline. The Founding Fathers didn’t have an outline or experts or polling. Remember the last stopgap measure eleven months ago? I actually wrote on that and you can read it here.

Each and every Senator thinks she/he should have been President. Every action reminds us why she/he should never be. Just also remember why Susan Collins is the only choice for Maine. From the New York Times:

Senator Susan Collins, Republican of Maine and the chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee, called the interim spending bill “a major step toward averting a damaging shutdown that only harms vital programs and federal workers.”

Democrats also cheered a measure they said would head off a crisis.

“For months, Democrats have been clear: we want to fund the government, avoid a shutdown, and pass strong, bipartisan appropriations bills that improve people’s lives,” Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, said in a statement.

Lawmakers in both parties are eager to avoid the kind of spending fights that have consumed much of this congressional session, culminating in a pair of shutdowns.

The first was in October 2025, when Democrats sought unsuccessfully to use their leverage over federal spending to force the president to cut a deal on extending expiring health care subsidies.

The second was in February 2026, when Democrats shut down the Department of Homeland Security as they tried and failed to pressure Mr. Trump to agree to new restrictions on federal immigration agents following the killings of U.S. citizens amid his deportation crackdown.

Implore them harder and get the SAVE Act and the spending bill done. I agree with John Kennedy of Louisiana. Put all the bills on the floor. Also, wouldn’t getting stuff done be best for Republican’s campaigning. Geez, Thune is weak.

Almost as weak as Schumer with or without his raw burgers. Stopgap this, baby. The Founding Fathers are rolling.
