Facts don’t matter to the media. The government of Israel made the tough decision to refuse to allow Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib entry this upcoming weekend. It wasn’t a decision made lightly. So, what does the media do? Craft a narrative that hides key facts from the public.
According to CNN, barring Omar and Tlaib from entering Israel is all Trump’s fault. Not only that, but the narrative last evening also morphed into ‘Trump is ratcheting up the culture war!’
However, as noted above. The media is leaving a great number of details out of their reports.

Before anyone goes after their hankies in sympathy, it would be worth noting that it isn’t Israel that is keeping Tlaib’s grandmother captive in Palestine.
“Grandma Tlaib is a resident of the Palestinian Arab village of Beit Ur al-Fauqa. The Israeli occupation of that village ended in 1995. It has been governed by the Palestinian Authority (PA), not Israel, for the past 24 years. For the congresswoman to claim that her grandmother is “occupied” by the Israelis — and therefore a victim of persecution and an eyewitness to Israeli “human rights violations” — is simply a lie.”
Oh. Is the media pointing THAT out? No. It doesn’t fit the narrative. Will the media also point out that Tliab’s grandma isn’t allowed to vote? Nahhh…that doesn’t fit the narrative either.
As Toni noted yesterday, it was a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation regarding barring the two anti-semitic wonder kids from the country. Everyone piled on when Netanyahu announced his decision. But again, there are key facts that are being hidden from view by the mainstream media.
The title of their itinerary.
According to their own itinerary, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib chose to refer to Israel as “Palestine”.

Well now, isn’t that something? They were supposedly going over to see Israel first-hand and get educated. The itinerary shows otherwise.
The sponsor of their trip.
Prime Minister Netanyahu points out their sponsor has a very anti-Israel background.
In addition, the organization that is funding their trip is Miftah, which is an avid supporter of BDS, and among whose members are those who have expressed support for terrorism against Israel.

MIFTAH is an organization that has long promoted the ‘glorification of terrorism,’ accused Israel of massacre numerous times, and constantly promotes Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel. Not only that, but one of the key players with MIFTAH is an advocate for the heinous trope regarding Passover and Christian blood rituals. With a sponsor like that, is it any wonder that the Israeli government had cause for concern?
Furthermore, Omar and Tlaib made exactly ZERO effort to schedule meetings with anyone within the Israeli government.
Ilhan had something to say.
““It is an affront that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, under pressure from President Trump, would deny entry to representatives of the U.S. government,” Omar said in a statement. “Trump’s Muslim ban is what Israel is implementing, this time against two duly elected members of Congress.”
“Denying entry into Israel not only limits our ability to learn from Israelis, but also to enter the Palestinian territories,” Omar said. “Sadly, this is not a surprise given the public positions of Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has consistently resisted peace efforts, restricted the freedom of movement of Palestinians, limited public knowledge of the brutal realities of the occupation and aligned himself with Islamophobes like Donald Trump.””
What is the media reporting on? That Ilhan is mad at Trump, that this is all Trump’s fault because Muslim ban, and that this was supposed to be an “educational” tour of Israel.
Media ignores Omar’s lies.
If the trip was to educate themselves on all things Israel, why were there NO meetings scheduled with anyone from the Israeli government?
Keep in mind, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib enthusiastically support Palestine over Israel, and their sponsorship of BDS legislation shows their true colors. Both spoke in Congress of their support and equated supporting the anti-semitic BDS with MLK and Nazi boycotts. Apples + oranges do not birth pineapples.
According to the media, it looks bad for Israel right now. However, the fact remains that giving Tlaib and Omar the bully pulpit in Israel was a bad idea given their sole purpose was to undermine a recognized country. The media’s rush to cover up key facts is a prime example why barring them from entry was necessary.

WTF does her being your grandmother have to do with Israel barring you from their country? For that matter, what does you being a US congresscritter have to do with it? You espouse an ideology desiring the destruction of their country, and denying the humanity of their people. And Congress doesn’t really have authority over foreign policy, so your position is irrelevant (though other countries often act otherwise).
Oh, and I love the speaking-in-third-person bit. Nice touch of arrogance on top of all the rest.

limits our ability to learn from Israelis
Well, no, it does not. After all, Israel is not an authoritarian kleptocracy, like the Palestinian Territories. Their people can freely travel, they have the internet and phones and everything. On top of a large cadre of intellectuals who regularly write and speak around the world. That’s like saying you can’t learn from Shakespeare because you can’t visit England.
I won’t bother to quote that next sentence, because it would waste several lines pointing out each lie in it.

The least you could do is put that in scare quotes, since it’s an absolute lie.
Unfortunately, Israel may be going squishy over this. They are entirely too worried about what other nations think of their righteous actions.
