California. Home of swimming pools, movie stars and now Typhus. Despite the City of Los Angeles’ effort to clean up “sky-high” piles of trash near Skid Row a few months back, more piles have been found. Typhus is the gift that keeps on giving.
Even the city’s most notorious trash pile, located between downtown LA’s busy Fashion and Produce districts, continues to be a magnet for rats after it was cleaned up months ago. The rodents can carry typhus-infected fleas, which can spread the disease to humans through bacteria rubbed into the eyes or cuts and scrapes on the skin, resulting in severe flu-like symptoms.”-NBC4, Los Angeles
Every city has to have its trademark, right? In San Francisco, your dog might just step in some human poop. It’s so wonderful that Poop Maps was invented, am I right? In Portland and Seattle, your child might just step on a dirty heroin needle on the way to school. They’re going big in L.A., though. We’re talking large-scale, medieval-style illnesses from flea-infested rats.

Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti, muses on lamayor.org on how the city became a haven for Typhus-carrying fleas. The responses are standard from city officials pretty much up and down the left coast of our beloved country. Housing shortage. Cuts to mental health care. Stagnant wages. Challenges with the implementation of criminal justice reform. We’ve heard this before in both San Francisco and Seattle. They all dance around the real problem once again.
It's no wonder diseases are breaking out in LA.

Last month, Garcetti a $10.6-billion proposed budget for the city-spending plan that relies on increased cannabis sales in Los Angeles and state money to help the city’s homeless population. Garcetti also proposed increased tax revenues on businesses and properties. So much for “affordable housing” in Los Angeles.
I want to circle back to the cannabis sales for just a moment. Whilst walking around in downtown Portland last January, we came across a homeless encampment in a small area off the sidewalk we were walking on. You know what I smelled? The distinct aroma of marijuana. In Eugene, Oregon a few months back…more tents off to the side of a main thoroughfare. Again, the smell of Mary Jane lurked in the afternoon air. My kid even smelled it! You tell me what some of these people are doing in their tents. They can’t do that in a shelter. Some of them don’t want to go to a shelter because of this. So, they stay in their tents until city government forces them to move, they leave their trash and then they move to another locale and trash that area. The vicious cycle continues, they remain addicted to whatever it is that is their poison and are given no guidance and no incentives to get better.
Complications from untreated typhus can include conditions such as pneumonia, meningitis, or septic shock. Sounds absolutely lovely, doesn’t it? California knows how to party. Let’s get this straight-Democrats are running in 2020 on the platform of environmental issues. Clean energy, no chemicals, coal=bad, fuel=bad, blah, blah, blah. But we have to keep our borders open, we have to “humanize” individuals who are totally okay with dumping their garbage in the city streets, urinating, defecating and so on-wherever. And we, law-abiding minions who care about their communities have to just embrace the suck of getting human feces on our shoes, stepping on needles and now potentially acquiring a disease spread by rat fleas?
I’d like to see the Hollywood elite take this on. With multiple millions of dollars, they could be part of cleaning up downtown L.A. Anyone? Crickets. They will just look on from their gated communities in the hills and continue to preach. The California Typhus rush is on. Time to rush right on out of this state if you can.

A great many years ago I read a column by Thomas Sowell titled something like “The re-barbarization of American cities”. His thesis, best I can recall, was that policies then in place would ultimately lead to breakdowns in society and a regression of living standards.
I think he was right.
I travel through the throngs of homeless people in Los Angeles everyday. It starts at 5:30am on one of the electric trains that head into Union Station. I pick the car with the least amount of “sleeper cells” slumped over the seats, some with a shopping cart of belongings. Metro PD do little or nothing to get the sleepers off the trains.
Same thing at Union Station, get on the Red Line subway and find a car with the least amount of traveling campers. Sometimes LAPD does a sweep to remove the homeless. It’s a losing battle.
The homeless do more damage than the garbage and Typhus threat on street level. I don’t know how many elevators are damaged each day as the homeless turn each elevator into a moving toilet. Each underground station has its “spot” for relief; a place to be avoided at all costs.
I end up at work, a large medical complex (several hospitals), a natural magnet for homeless encampments around the perimeter. The police do its best to disperse the campers but, again, a never ending battle.
Due to budget cuts, the city no longer cleans the sidewalks like it used to. One of many reasons why Hepatitis A saw a big surge in Los Angeles.
I keep my work shoes in my car, they’ll never come into my house. Many of my co-workers who commute tell me once they get home, the clothes hit the hamper and they jump in the shower, since they have no idea what they have been exposed to around work and on the trains.
This is what the current leadership at Los Angeles’ city and county levels has done. I’m afraid even a pandemic would not change a thing.
terrifying ….. democrats lack of care for human beings is terrifying.
And this is what the DNC has planned for the entire country – once they again are in power.
One of the first and most important achievements of modern civilization was the development of modern sewer and sanitation. This greatly reduced death rates and extended human lifespans. What the left is now doing to cities is another example of how the left is deadset on undoing civilization.
