Barack Obama must have been still licking his wounds from his latest diss from ol’ Fidel when he delivered his address scolding journalists on Sunday at the 2016 Toner Prize Ceremony.
“It’s worth asking ourselves what each of us — as politicians, as journalists, but most of all as citizens — may have done” to create the polarized political atmosphere. Some may be more to blame than others for the current climate, but all of us are responsible for reversing it.”
Obama suggested to journalists that there were greater responsibilities than “handing someone a microphone.” Hint: so is the presidency, BHO. While no names were mentioned specifically, we know, (after eight years of passive-aggressive lecturing) that Obama was referring to Trump, of course. Trump, Trump, Trump. The Donald is all over our newsfeeds. Seems poor Barry is not feeling enveloped in the journalistic love these days. Nobody is paying attention to him.
Turnabout is fair play, however. After the Obama’s lecture on “substance” and “transparency”, CNN reporter, Jake Tapper called POTUS out on his hypocrisy. Yes, a CNN reporter. I never thought I’d see this happen…yes, I am as shocked as you are.
“President Obama made many salient points. His message was a good one, but was President Obama the right messenger?
“Many believe that Obama’s call for us to probe and dig deeper and find out more has been made far more difficult by his administration than any in recent decades. A far cry from the assurances he offered when he first took office.”- Jake Tapper
Despite Obama’s “promise” for transparency, the Freedom of Information Act under the Obama administration has been nothing but with the Associated Press’ finding last year that the administration had set a record for censoring or denying access to information requested under FOIA, and that the backlog of unanswered requests across the government had risen by 55 percent, to more than 200,000.
“Good reporters find yourselves caught between competing forces, I’m aware of that. You believe in the importance of a well-informed electorate. You’ve staked your careers on it. Our democracy needs you more than ever. You’re under significant financial pressures as well. So I believe the electorate would be better served if your networks and your producers would give you the room to cover substance.”-Barack Obama
Substance. Like his family vacay to Cuba. Or an Easter Egg Roll with Beyonce and Jay-Z in attendance? Or yet another lecture on gun violence? Or….this?

Because nothing says substance and integrity like propagandizing children to usurp the Constitution. Read: substance on his terms. What happens when a narcissistic president projects? He claims to not (want to) be like one Vladimir Putin. (Let me clear my throat.) Yes, he promised transparency. And yes, this man is pretty darn transparent.
Had the media probed deeply in 2007 this punk would still be an unknown nobody back in Chicago. His chutzpah gets more and more out of control by the day. Him saying all this confirms it.
