TRUTH Social: Trump Launches Social Media Network

Facebook and Twitter may have thrown Donald Trump off their sites, but 45 decided to clap back with a social media site of his own. He’s launching “TRUTH Social,” a network which will let the former president counter Silicon Valley Big Tech.

Take that, Zuck and Jack!

Donald Trump, Jr. announced TRUTH Social via Fox News “Hannity” on Wednesday night. He seemed quite jazzed about it, calling it a “Big Tent, an open and free network.”

Trump supporters on YouTube were also quite excited, like this guy:

TRUTH Social is the brainchild of the new Trump Media & Technology Group, which will merge with Digital World Acquisitions Corp. Founded in December, 2020, DWAC is a “blank check” company, whose sole purpose is to merge or acquire new companies. As a result, this merger will allow TMTG to be publicly listed.

Digital World CEO Patrick Orland said this about the merger with Trump’s new media company:

“Digital World was formed to create public shareholder value and we believe that TMTG is one of the most promising business combination partners to fulfill that purpose.”

TMTG will also be worth a combined $1.7 billion after the merger. It’s the Art of of the Deal, amirite?

Here’s what Donald Trump said in a statement announcing the network, sounding very Trumpian:

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.”

“I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”

However, don’t go searching for the network just yet. A full launch will happen sometime during the first quarter of 2022, although a beta launch will be available for “invited guests” next month. So if you’re interested in signing up for TRUTH Social, you can add your name to a waiting list here. A subscription video-on-demand service, called TMTG+, will also be available, and will feature news, podcasts, entertainment programming along with other features — all non-woke, of course.

Plus, if you have an iPhone or Mac, you can check out the preview at the App Store. But if you have an older phone or are running an older system on your Mac, fuggetaboutit. You’ll need at least an iPhone 11 or run macOS11, “Big Sur,” on your Mac to download the app. And from what I can ascertain, it won’t be available for Android or PC at this time. But I’m sure they’ll be on their way.

Here’s a screenshot of what the Trump network will look like on your iPhone:

No matter what you may think of Donald Trump, you should applaud this platform which will counter the influence of Big Tech social media like Facebook and Twitter. Not only because it will give conservatives ability to freely express their opinions without fear of censor, but because it may also cut into the financial influence of Facebook.

A recent report showed that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscella Chan donated $419.5 million to two organizations: The Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL) and The Center for Election Innovation and Research (CEIR). In addition, the report said the pair made the donations with specific conditions.

The two groups — which claim to be non-partisan, by the way — sent funds to local governments to implement administrative practices, voting methods, data-sharing agreements, and outreach programs for the 2020 elections. That would be fine if they had distributed the money fairly. However, the counties which Biden took received three times the funds than those which swung for Trump. So according to this report, the Zuck Bucks helped the turnout for Biden in 2020.

As Sen. Rand Paul asked on Wednesday:

“Are our elections for sale? Did Mark Zuckerberg purchase the Wisconsin Presidential election?”

Certainly looks like it, doesn’t it?

However, the launch of TRUTH Social will no doubt lure away conservatives from the overbearing Facebook and Twitter media sites. And while Big Tech companies were able to deplatform Parler earlier this year, the former president’s caché will be more of a challenge to the reigning kings of social media. He’s kind of hard to ignore.

Remember how liberals would sneer, “Don’t like how Facebook censors? Don’t like how Twitter censors? Start your own social media company!” Trump just said, Hold my Diet Coke!
