Procter & Gamble Employees Fight Vaccine Mandate

Corporate Procter & Gamble has decreed that all of its United States-based employees present proof of vaccination, obtain an approved exemption, or undergo weekly testing. Some employees are not going quietly into that mandate. They have produced a video to make consumers aware of what might happen if they quit en masse. Spoiler alert: Empty shelves.

You may not know much about Procter & Gamble but you most likely have P&G products in your home. It’s safe to say that you would have to actually work to not have the consumer goods giant’s products at home. Pampers, Luvs, Braun, Gillette, Charmin, Puffs, Dawn, Tide and many, many other products are in the Company portfolio. When you are not at home, the hotels, motels and restaurants you visit use P&G professional products to clean equipment and guest areas. The company touches every area of your life. In the United States, P&G has about 26,000 employees.

Full disclosure here. I met my husband at Procter & Gamble. He was in Sales. He had worked in the Food Division (Crisco and Pringles), the General Offices in Cincinnati, and Health & Beauty Care. I was a Marketing Coordinator with the Crush and Hires Root Beer brands. The General Offices (GO) in Cincinnati are the international headquarters for the mega-corp. Like all other companies, there was a corporate culture at P&G. As I recall, it was fact and science based. Gut feelings and flying by the seat of your pants was not tolerated. The company was always a little cultish though. You can tell it still is from this video:

As we have seen from some of the product commercials, P&G has gone fully Social Justice Warrior. The company puts out commercials like The Talk, where all Black people still live in the Jim Crow era and there are no racially mixed families, and or the Gillette Best A Man Can Get? commercial that implies all men are toxic. It’s not about the best product, it’s all about the FEELZ. Forget science and facts.

We should not be surprised that Procter & Gamble ignored science and facts and issued a Covid vaccine mandate to all of its U.S. employees. The original date set for the mandate was November 1, 2021, but that has been moved to a window close to the end of the year because of a scarcity of Covid test kits. Here is what the local paper wrote:

P&G announced its vaccine mandate after President Joe Biden unveiled a plan to require businesses with over 100 employees to ensure workers are vaccinated or tested weekly.

P&G officials said the “vast majority” of its workforce in America is already vaccinated. Still, testing kit availability in some parts of the country had snarled plans to bring all employees into compliance with company policy.

“Our Nov. 1 deadline has shifted to a ‘window’ in November or December,” Patrick Blair, a P&G spokesman told The Enquirer.

P&G is requiring proof of vaccination, a company approved exemption, or weekly testing. What about the far superior natural immunity? Silence. The old P&G would have lectured us about diet and exercise, keeping our immune systems healthy and hand washing. The company doesn’t do SCIENCE anymore. As a matter of fact the newly elected P&G President, Jon Moeller, looks like a stroke waiting to happen.

I remember a billion years ago, when P&G aspired to be the “best damn soap company in the world”. Now, their corporate values statement is way too long but includes:

We Show Respect for All Individuals
We believe that all individuals can and want to contribute to their fullest potential.
We value differences.
We inspire and enable people to achieve high expectations, standards and challenging goals.
We are honest with people about their performance.

Some of the employees got together and made a very professional video threatening what will happen if the company enforces the vaccine mandate:

“Name calling, exclusion, and general disgust.” “Being forced to decide between termination or indefinite discriminatory testing requirements that P&G can eliminate at any time.” And, then the employees threaten that you could have stopped the supply chain disruptions and factory shut downs if you had made your voice heard.

You want toilet paper and shampoo, you better stand with the anti-mandate employees. I love this so much. It’s so American. It’s our values. We aren’t sheeple who comply. We fight the powers that be. We rage against the machine. Well, except that the group Rage Against The Machine now requires proof of vaccination and is, therefore, the machine.

As Nina wrote, the OSHA requirements will shatter the supply chain. If companies like Procter & Gamble had anyone capable of rational thinking, they would look into real SCIENCE. They would respect individual rights. They would recognize that some people cannot take the vaccine. They would recognize natural immunity.

But, sadly, there is no one rational at P&G. They have left the facts for the FEELZ. They would live the company values.
