Well, that’s certainly an interesting twist. Evidently the immigration issues surrounding Ilhan, her husband, and her brother gained enough traction that led federal officials to conduct an early morning raid on her DC residence.

Federal agents on Monday searched the home of Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar as part of a criminal investigation, a startling escalation that brings renewed scrutiny to the frequent target of Trump administration derision in the final weeks of her reelection bid.

The search of the Minnesota congresswoman’s home was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations agents, said two people familiar with the matter, who were not authorized to publicly discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity. The nature and scope of the investigation were unclear, though Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said last month that there was an “ongoing investigation” and “something’s going to happen.”

The search took place ahead of next month’s midterm elections, in which Omar is on the ballot for reelection. Longstanding Justice Department protocol cautions against overt law enforcement actions in the weeks before an election that could influence public opinion.

There have been questions regarding Ilhan’s immigration status for years now, including the very weird issues about marrying her brother in order for him to obtain US citizenship.

However, is this raid solely about her immigration status? Or is it also about the newer questions surrounding all the fraud issues in her district? Keep in mind, she’s already skipped a fraud hearing and has refused to turn over documents. Then there are the questions surrounding her current husband and his dubious financial records. Finally, Ilhan’s own financial filings have raised numerous red flags. Is she worth millions or worth pennies? She refuses to answer.

In September Tom Homan confirmed that she’s under investigation for immigration and marriage fraud.

And now there’s an early morning raid on her DC residence.

Two sources close to the investigation say the search stems from a criminal fraud investigation into the Somali-born congresswoman’s immigration paperwork, which was filled out by her late father when she was a child.

The Wall Street Journal describes Omar’s early life thusly.

Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1982 into an affluent family, Omar lost her mother when she was in preschool, according to her book, “This Is What America Looks Like: My Journey From Refugee to Congresswoman.” As a self-described spoiled youngest child, she was raised by her father and a collection of family members.

As a child, she enjoyed a level of safety and comfort unusual in a country with widespread poverty and violence. The family had a Toyota Corolla, personal driver and guarded compound.

When she was eight, civil war broke out. After surviving a direct attack on their home, her family fled to Kenya and lived in a refugee camp for several years. Omar writes they secured “a golden ticket” to America, but her first impressions weren’t positive when she landed in New York and saw piles of garbage and homelessness.

What the WSJ doesn’t tell you is that Omar’s father wasn’t just a nice smiling rich educator. When, in fact, his education also involved being trained as a soldier by the Russians and obtaining the status of Colonel in the Somali army. Needless to say, if that information wasn’t disclosed prior to the family’s arrival in the U.S., that’s problematic.

Needless to say, she’s not a happy camper and is blasting Trump for the investigation and this morning’s raid.

“Squad” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) claimed that a Homeland Security Investigations raid of her DC residence on Monday was part of a targeted effort by President Trump to intimidate her as a political foe.

“I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,” Omar said in a statement on X. “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.”

“I will not be silenced,” the congresswoman added in a personal response to the president.

Isn’t she just so cute? Not long ago she along with many other Democrats were yakking about how no one is above the law. Now, when the spotlight is on her, the shoe is on the other foot.

And…the troops are rallying behind her, as you can see from this screenshot of Tlaib’s post on X.

Expect more of those types of diatribes throughout the rest of the day. What’s funny and a bit infuriating about this is that they were all totally fine with anything that Jack Smith did against the Trump family. But this? Beyond the pale.

As RedState discovered, the nickname for the investigation and raid is a direct dunk on Ilhan. World War Eleven indeed!

One final note on this. While Ilhan claims this is all baseless, the fact is a judge had to review the evidence and sign off on the search warrant. A federal judge. In DC. Where most if not all of the federal judges are …very liberal.
