President Obama was scheduled to be in Los Angeles doing what he does best — fundraising, this time at the home of Gwyneth Paltrow (she of the Goop diet and “conscious uncoupling” divorce) where the swells can pay up to 32K per person for a ticket. Anticipating the traffic mess in a city already famous for its traffic problems, police warned drivers of areas to avoid both Thursday and Friday. Then on Friday he hopes to dupe Millennials once again by visiting a tech incubator and touting Obamacare.
Meanwhile, the nation is engulfed in Ebola fever — perhaps not literally, but figuratively, as most Americans are very concerned about an Ebola outbreak. A majority polled are in favor of travel bans from Ebola-affected West African nations.
But rather than stopping flights from West Africa, federal health officials have declared that they will step up screening for incoming passengers at five airports — at Kennedy International Airport in New York; Washington Dulles; Newark Liberty International; Chicago O’Hare; and Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. Some health experts have claimed that these screenings are more window dressing for a nervous public than efficient at keeping out infected patients. Complicating matters is an announcement from a New Jersey customs agent that his personnel are not ready for Ebola, either through training or equipment. Meanwhile, Centers for Disease Control director Thomas Frieden continues to stubbornly insist that air travel bans from West Africa would not be enacted.
Even Obama Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell has warned Americans that there will be more cases of Ebola.“We had one case and I think there may be other cases, and I think we have to recognize that as a nation,” she said at a breakfast held in Washington, DC and hosted by the journal Health Affairs.
Just peachy.
And then there’s our open borders.
Border Patrol Agent and National Border Control Council Vice President Chris Cabrera told Fox News’s Lou Dobbs on Thursday that nothing has been done to secure the southern border, and that the apprehension rate has decreased to about 30%. Cabrera said he agreed “100 percent” with Marine Corps General John Kelly that a “mass migration” would occur if Ebola spread to South America. He added, “We caught an individual last night from East Africa, which obviously, is not from the zone where it’s concentrated, but there is still some type of threat there.”
Let me show you my shocked face.
Ebola, ISIS, terrorism — the crises never seem to end, they only seem to escalate. And Obama golfs. And fundraises. And cares only about the midterm elections.
The other night my husband and I were enjoying dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, and I told him that for the first time in my 50+ years of life I am truly, truly afraid. I have observed many plights into which our nation has been plunged and has emerged — the worst being 9/11 — and have always known that we might be bloodied, yet remain strong.
It all boils down to leadership. President George Bush, despite his many faults, was a commander in whom I had confidence would defend the country. And no, he didn’t close down the border like he should have, but I believe he would have if he believed that terrorism and disease were threatening the people.
Meanwhile, Obama frolics while the nation descends into fear.
It’s been easy to mock the French in recent years but I have to give them much credit for something-when Marie Antoinette behaved exactly the way The GLOAM (Genius Leader Of All Mankind) has at least they got fed up enough to the point of lopping her head off. Now I’m not saying we go that route (even though the GLOAM has done worse things to his country than Marie did to hers) but beheading his political career in the near future via impeachment would be a long overdue remedy to this disgusting arrogance and treason we have had to endure for 5 long years.
