Colin Kaepernick has Nike totally under his thumb. Nike wanted to debut the Air Max 1 USA sneakers with the Betsy Ross flag on July 1st, but that didn’t happen because Colin threw a fit. The Betsy Ross flag is racist!
Yes indeed folks, Nike caved to Colin once again.
“Nike Inc. NKE 1.74% is yanking a U.S.A.-themed sneaker featuring an early American flag after former NFL star-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive, according to people familiar with the matter.
The sneaker giant created the Air Max 1 USA in celebration of the July Fourth holiday, and it was slated to go on sale this week. The heel of the shoe featured a U.S. flag with 13 white stars in a circle, a design created during the American Revolution and commonly referred to as the Betsy Ross flag.”
Why is that flag so damned offensive?
“After images of the shoe were posted online, Mr. Kaepernick, a Nike endorser, reached out to company officials saying that he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery, the people said. Some users on social media responded to posts about the shoe with similar concerns. Mr. Kaepernick declined to comment.
The design was created in the 1770s to represent the 13 original colonies, though there were many early versions of the America flag, according to the Smithsonian. In 1795, stars were added to reflect the addition of Vermont and Kentucky as states.”
You know what? Colin and his merry band of illiterate historians can go pound sand.
They get to protest a flag while ignoring WHAT THAT FLAG STANDS FOR! Colin, that flag wasn’t a symbol of slavery, that flag was and still is a symbol of FREEDOM.
This was the shoe Kaepernick said was offensive and @Nike agreed. https://t.co/6pCJMMeTsf

That flag flew while people fought, bled, and died in order to kick England to the curb. That flag flew when George Washington crossed the Delaware in the dead of winter. That flag flew at the Yorktown surrender.
Our American flag is NOT a symbol of racism. Period. Full Stop.
We reported last year that Nike had made Colin the face of it’s 30th anniversary ‘Just Do It’ ads. We were supposed to like buying Nike after that because Colin presumably believed in hating America thus sacrificed everything! Yeah…hell to the no.
I’m still with Mike Rowe on this. People like Thomas Burnett from Flight 93 are the ones who truly sacrificed EVERYTHING. Pat Tillman sacrificed all. As did so many of our soldiers today, yesterday, and during the American Revolution.
Colin Kaepernick has made it clear that he hates this country. He’s made it abundantly clear that he truly hates our flag and our National Anthem.
Nike has caved to that hatred by yanking a product off their shelves that would’ve made them a significant amount of money. Money that would’ve more than recouped what they shelled out for their idiotic sponsorship of pig sock wearing Coin Kaepernick.
This from the same guy (and company) that thought THIS was just fine?!?#ShameOnYou @Nike pic.twitter.com/ySsUp06xft

Colin’s defense at that time was to point out that he was only calling out the bad apples in the bunch. Except that it was the same day of a game where he started kneeling AND veterans were being honored. His excuses rang hollow for a great many people. Well, except for Obama.
Obama essentially encouraged Colin and others – yeah I’m looking at you Megan Rapinoe – to disrespect the country that has given them so much because of the colonists who brought England to its knees while our flag flew high.
Colin Kaepernick can disrespect our flag and our country all he wants. That doesn’t mean I have to respect his decision. Because I don’t, and I sure as hell don’t respect him.
Nike caved to China just the other day, and now they’ve caved to a self-indulgent whiny America-hating brat instead of protecting their bottom line. They just threw hundreds of thousands of dollars down the toilet because of Colin Kaepernick’s temper tantrum. I’d give anything to be a fly on the wall as Nike tries to explain that loss to the IRS.

There’s much better and less expensive sneakers than Nike out there.. They’ll never end up in my house until they change their tune.
ooh, and F*#K Crapernick and Rapinoe, I hear Cuba and Venezuela are great this time of year!
Nike caved to China just the other day, and now they’ve caved to [Kaepernick]
It’s just that they have decided to make their appeal more.. selective.
(30 Quatloos to the first one that gets that reference.)
They’ve decided to turn it up to 11.
30 Quatloos to the one Formerly Known as Skeptic!
So, I guess according to Colin K., anything associated with pre-Civil Rights Act USA is inherently Racist and must be memory-holed. Did I get that right?
Though he predates the flag, I have to wonder… what would Crispus Attucks say?
“If you insist on kneeling, at least load muskets for me while you’re down there!”
Winner !!
In MY mind’s eye….It all began with the restaurant called Sambo’s
I loved Sambos as a kid!
Since when did Colin kapernick become the conscience for America ?
I seriously doubt that Bill Bowerman envisioned any of this when he created Nike out of nothing. He just wanted a good shoe for his athletes. Colon Kaepernick really needs to check his white privilege.
I find his conduct regretful, the same way I find people using glue traps instead of regular traps to get rid of mice regretful. But, heck, I’ve been in favor of bringing back napalm just for ISIS. Preciscion-guided napalm.
