Media Year-in-Review: The Fail is Real

As 2019 draws to a close, we would like to remind you all that the media and its unhinged crusade against President Trump reached peak stupid this year.

It wasn’t just the deranged, froth-flecked media bias that stood out this year, but the intentional, focused rage against a president the mediots all despise with the intensity of a thousand burning suns that prevented the Fourth Estate from performing its duties to inform the public, and instead led them to twist, spin, influence, and publish outright lies to ensure that the leftist narrative was supported at any cost.

I will admit that the list of media psychosis this year is lengthy, but I have tried to whittle it down to the most amusing and crazed for your entertainment.

First – let’s go to CNN’s Jim Acosta, who regularly distinguishes himself by baring his baboon ass in public, inserting himself into the story, while pretending to be a much-abused victim of Trump rage. In January, Acosta faced mockery and derision by tweeting video of himself at the border wall.

Acosta’s goal was to downplay President Trump’s claims of a crisis at the US border with Mexico by claiming “There are no migrants trying to rush toward this fence.”

The astute among us noted that Acosta was doing the President a favor by pointing out that walls actually… you know… WORK, and that the tweeted video was a spectacular self-own from a man who eats, breathes, and lives negative publicity he can generate against the Trump administration.

Second – Also in January, the annual March for Life turned into a clown show thanks to the Washington Post and other mediots, who – without so much as a shred of evidence – painted a few Catholic school boys as racist based on unproven accusations from a well-known provocateur and criminal.

Phillips, who was 19 at the time, was “charged with escaping from the Nebraska Penal Complex where he was confined May 3,” according to a May 9, 1974, article in the Lincoln Star. The court approved a bond of $500 and set a preliminary hearing for May 14.

He pleaded guilty to assault on June 19, 1974, and was fined $200. In addition, he was charged with underage possession of alcohol in 1972, 1973, and 1975, as well as negligent driving. A destruction of property charge against him was dropped in August 1973, but Phillips was sentenced to one year probation for a related charge of alcohol possession by a minor. In December 1978, he was charged with driving without a license.

[…]

Military records provided to the Washington Examiner show that Phillips served in the Marine Corps Reserve between 1972 to 1976 and held the rank of private, E-1, on April 18, 1975. According to records obtained by former Navy SEAL Don Shipley, Phillips was listed as Absent Without Leave (AWOL) three times.

Abuse against the boys of Covington Catholic included botched reporting from the media to physical threats against the students at the school.

The media, in its desperate attempt to paint Trump supporters as racists, gleefully mischaracterized the events of that day, tossed a high school kid, whose only “crime” was wearing a MAGA hat and attending an anti-abortion rally, under the bus for the vultures to eviscerate.

The only problem is, as the details of the encounter emerged, it became clear that the mediots got it wrong, that the kids did nothing shameful or egregious, and that Nathan Phillips is a repugnant, victim-playing liar.

Reza Aslan – supposedly a religious scholar whose family fled the Iranian revolution in 1979 and came to the United States from Tehran – decided to engage in some bullying and misinformation of his own, not unlike his Iranian counterparts. He and his media buddies maligned, denigrated, and bullied a teenage boy who, it turns out, did absolutely nothing wrong.

But while some, like CNN’s Ana Navarro deleted their shameful attacks on a bunch of kids, and Jake Tapper updated the story with the facts and admitted that the initial reporting was erroneous, I haven’t seen Aslan issue any kind of correction or indication of a mea culpa. He simply moved on.

Meanwhile, Nick Sandman – the young man in the video standing stoically as Phillips beats his drum in his face – and his family are suing the media, and rightfully so. The case against the Washington Post entered the discovery phase in October. Here’s hoping the kid gets every penny of the $250 million in damages he is seeking.

Third – in February, the mediots and their sycophantic politicians and supporters retired to their fainting couches, clutching their pearls, and decrying America, where they believe that a black man swings from every tree, because some gay, black actor in some stupid TV show ostensibly was attacked by a bunch of MAGA racists. In Chicago. In sub-zero temperatures. In the middle of the night. The Jussie Smollett circus was particularly amusing, because his “attackers” turned out to be Nigerian, very black – blacker than him, in fact – and acquaintances whom he hired to stage the “racist, anti-gay” attack so he could garner himself some sympathy and attention.

Did the media apologize for beating the hoax drum like a redheaded stepchild? Nope. Instead they spun their lack of integrity in reporting this hoax as good because, you see, it started a national conversation.

Fourth – In March, I reported that an NBC opinion writer vomited accusations that the Trump administration of – what else? – racism, because the release of the Harriet Tubman $20 was delayed. The only problem is that the narrative is easily taken apart by anyone with a Google machine. Money magazine explained when the announcement was first made during the Obama administration that the bill wouldn’t be released until 2026 in part because the bill needs to be difficult to counterfeit and also because the Treasury made a commitment to make the bill more accessible for the blind, which would take a bit more time.

Fifth – in April, Buzzfeed, that gained notoriety for its blunderous reporting of the absurd Christopher Steele “dossier,” stuck its head directly up its own ass by desperately spinning its reporting about Michael Cohen’s testimony against the President, and explaining just how they came to the characterization of the interactions between Trump and Cohen, including by throwing their own law enforcement sources under the bus, while everyone pointed and laughed.

Nice job, jackholes.

Sixth – There was the apology MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell had to issue on the air, because in his zeal to promote the Trump/Russia narrative to which the media had glommed itself like a demented barnacle, he reported that Russian oligarchs had co-signed Deutche Bank loans to President Trump.

“Last night on this show I discussed information that wasn’t ready for reporting,” O‘Donnell said at the top of his show Wednesday night. “I did not go through the rigorous verification and standards process here at MSNBC before repeating what I heard from my source. Had it gone through that process I would not have been permitted to report it. I should not have said it on air or posted it on Twitter. I was wrong to do so.”

Well, at least he apologized, right?

Seventh – we have an egregious case of media bias, lack of ethics, and outright bullying when NBC News’ and MSNBC’s Dafna Linzer tried to shut down HuffPo reporter Yashar Ali. Linzer told Ali that she received a call from the DNC, was told he had “a story,” and angrily demanded that he hold the report. “She wanted me to wait so they could call state party leaders,” he explained. “I kept telling Dafna no, that I wasn’t waiting. And she kept getting more frustrated. She was exasperated…she didn’t understand why I couldn’t wait for the DNC to make their state notification calls.”

Eighth – this was a doozy! After President Trump announced he was pulling troops out of the way of the Turkish incursion into Syria (a move, with which several of us disagreed, by the way), the media – desperate to show that Trump’s move in Syria resulted in the mass slaughter of Kurdish civilians by the Turks – it did, but for this post that’s absolutely beside the point – ABC ran a dramatic video of…

…a 2017 gun show demonstration in Kentucky.

Ninth – is MSNBC’s daily coverage of supposed Trump/Russia collusion, which was thoroughly debunked by the Mueller report released earlier this year. Rachel Maddow was at the top of the dung heap at MSNBC, implying that Trump’s talking points came from the Kremlin, because he was “curiously well-versed” at parroting Russian narratives, hysterically squealing that the Russians could shut down our power supply or blackmail President Trump into pulling troops away from Russia’s area of influence. As one Washington Post reporter put it, Maddow was a “clearinghouse” for every conspiracy theory on Russia and Trump, as she squeezed tight her anus and reported every negative bit of news she could find, working hard to wrap it in a nice Russia/Trump collusion bow. And when the recently released IG report confirmed that Maddow Madcow was, in fact, batshit insane and the problem was with the FBI process and lies of those involved in Operation Crossfire Hurricane, she proceeded to spin the outcome so hard, I got dizzy!

“The whole witch hunt idea,” Maddow said after the IG’s report was published in December, “the deep state cabal, the Russia investigation being a coup against President Trump, all of those talking points today, took a hard blow from this 476-page-deep examination of all of those crazy claims.”

I’ve tried to pare down the media crazy for the year to 10 most egregious stories, but the one that takes the cake for me (and also shows once again that a 12 year-old boy is my spirit animal) is, of course, #fartgate. While being interviewed live by MSNBC’s Chris “tingle up my leg” Matthews Congressman Eric SwalwellGovernment will nuke you to take your gunz” Smallballs farted in the middle of the interview. Loudly. With a very noticeable pause and a widening of the eyes as the thunderous fart escaped his anus and probably left a Chris Matthews-sized skidmark in his underwear.

The fart itself wasn’t news, however. It’s happened to a lot of people. They get nervous, the sphincter muscles malfunction, and the cheap Taco Bell burrito they consumed only hours ago escapes in a burst of noxious gas.

No, the tenth and arguably dumbest fail was MSNBC’s attempt to cover up Shartwells faux pas.

Yep! It was a coffee cup! Nothing to see here, boys and girls. Move along!

Although this is hardly a serious blunder, it does show just how much in the tank for the Democrats the media really are. They simply cannot allow one of their little darlings to go down in hilarious flames, and something as simple as a fart (granted, it was a horse-sized flatulent emission), must be spun and covered up.

Meanwhile, any and every opportunity to spin the ORANGEMANBAD narrative continues to gain media attention, even at the expense of what’s left of their… (I need to take a deep breath and get the giggles out of my system for this one) …credibility.

Thanks for the year of laughs, media! I’m sure we’re in for a treat as the 2020 campaign heats up.

    Oh, Marta, you Pollyanna, you.
We still have miles to go before we climb high enough to have reached the peak.
It’s gonna get a LOT stupider before it gets any better.

No, Trump’s pulling troops out of the Turks’ way DID NOT result in Kurds being slaughtered by Turks.

I am very far indeed from being an Erdogan fan, but that’s simply a filthy lie promoted by the Washington Post via a sleazy rhetorical trick that you fell for just like many others.

There have been Islamist groups attacking Kurds in the region for years. After Trump’s announcement, there was another such attack IN AN AREA WHERE NO TURKS WERE PRESENT. But the lying headline called the killers a “Turkish-led militia” even though they would have been very surprised to be told, after years of their own fighting in Syria, that all of a sudden they were “Turkish-led” because Turks were entering a DIFFERENT area of Syria.

You need to retract this, for the sake of your own reputation as a non-fool.
