Last night was Kamala’s coronation. No one voted for her, but now we are stuck with her as the Democrat presidential nominee.
And what, exactly did she discuss? We all know that part of her speech would involve her life story.
The fourth and final day of the Democratic National Convention is leading up to a dramatic finale: Kamala Harris giving her acceptance speech and getting to tell her personal story — in her own words — to an audience of millions.
She’s expected talk about a middle-class upbringing with a working mother. She will continue to stress the themes we’ve heard from speakers throughout the convention: optimism and patriotism — the “politics of joy” — drawing a contrast, her campaign says, with the “dark” vision of Donald Trump.
Will there be anything about policy? Or will that stay firmly in the fuzzy column?
We are treated with renditions of what might be, and the duality of what could possibly happen.
“The expectation of our community is that I’m going to fix all the havoc,” Ms. Harris said, according to Ms. Simon’s recollection. “They’re going to want me to fix all the racism, all the dysfunction, in the next four years.”
But in reality, Ms. Harris said, change will happen “bit by bit.”
The comment underscored the political philosophy that has guided Ms. Harris’s style of governance for decades. It is among the more striking contradictions of Ms. Harris’s candidacy: While she would bring about historic change if elected, as the first woman, the first Asian American and the second Black person to hold the office, she is not offering sweeping change in policy. She is at heart an institutionalist, defined by a deliberate style, focused on granular impacts over broad society shifts.
If she’s been that laser focused on solving problems, how come the border is still a sieve, 32,000 children are missing, and Kamala can’t seem to tell us what policies she’ll work to enact?? Oh sure, should the Democrats prevail in November, there will be a huge push to open the floodgates on voting rights.
At a February meeting with voting rights advocates she called for passing that measure and the legislation named after Lewis, the late civil rights champion and congressman. Harris at the time said pushing for such legislation was “about upholding fundamental principles, about democracy, the importance of all people being able to express their voice in every way, including through their vote.”
What the Democrats want us all to forget is that EVERYONE who is an American citizen has the ability to vote and nothing is stopping them from voting except by their OWN choice.
Of course this from Joe and Jill before her speech was totally not staged.
Jill and I just spoke to @KamalaHarris — we can’t wait to watch her accept this historic nomination.

They are on vacation and I’d say it’s a fair bet that Joe’s enthusiasm for Kamala is in the negative numbers. But Kamala’s here to tell you that she and Tim “Blue Falcon” Walz, after the coronation, are the way forward!
NEW >> VP Harris will say tonight:

“With this election, our nation has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism, and divisive battles of the past.
“A chance to chart a New Way Forward.
“Not as members of any one party or faction, but as Americans”
Which is rich considering her advocacy for Jussie Smollett and her tweet pushing for donations to the Minnesota Bail Fund is still up and running.
Her game changer of a speech devolved into blasting Donald Trump while supporting the middle class.
I’d truly like to know what an Opportunity Economy is. Because somehow that REEKS of socialistic communism.
I loved how she nattered on about Trump’s billionaire friends during the same week that billionaires such as Pritzker and the Obamas took center stage at the DNC convention. Lots of pot, kettle going on here.
There’s a lot to unpack with her speech, but her diatribe against SCOTUS because of the DOBBS ruling really pissed me off. Her throwaway comment about women having miscarriages in parking lots because hospitals supposedly won’t grant them access is a metric ton of gaslighting horseshit.
Furthermore, what she’s telling us is that states rights don’t matter, only the federal government has the right to tell us what to do regarding abortion.
Her commentary on the border was just comical. Suddenly the border bill needs to happen and she’ll sign it into law.
Kamala: “I know the importance of safety and security especially at our border.”

What a joke.

FABULOUS! Kamala, where are the 32,000 children who’ve disappeared from the border on your CURRENT watch??
I’m a bit surprised that Kamala somehow knew to warn Zelensky five days ahead of time that Putin was going to invade Ukraine. That’s big news if true!
And this is her problem. She's both trying to take credit and run away from the last three years.

Kamala is claiming that she’s running a campaign based upon unity. Except that it is HER party that has gone after parents for standing up for their children, kept schools closed for as long as possible, stayed silent on the riots, knelt down on behalf of George Floyd, or urged donations to bail funds, and more.

This was a convention about nothing. It was the sound bite convention conveying lots of showbiz, and marginal substance, with a lot of things missing.
Kamala, last person in the room when Biden made his horrific withdrawal decision, just gave a DNC speech where she bragged of her foreign policy stances from her vice presidency, & not once did she reference the Afghan debacle, let alone Abbey Gate or Taliban takeover. Whitewash.

Donald Trump called into Fox and gets the best line of the night. ‘Why hasn’t she fixed any of the things she’s complaining about?’
Obama and Pelosi brought us Kamala’s coronation with Tim Walz as her amiable sidekick. It was a show of sound bites. Substance was lacking, and I highly doubt that will change over the next 2 1/2 months.
