Jake Tapper Is Mad That Secret Service Kept President Safe From Iran Assassination Threat

Jake Tapper is throwing a fit over the Secret Service keeping the President safe from an assassination threat from Iran. How dare they leave everyone else on Air Force One in the dark about all this!

It’s really kind of the stuff of spy novels. Which as others are pointing out, might make it into a movie some day. President Trump was secretly spirited out of Air Force One and driven by catering truck to the decoy plane.

An Iranian assassination threat against President Donald Trump prompted an extraordinary operation last month in which he flew secretly from Turkey on an alternate military aircraft while the White House said he was aboard Air Force One, The Washington Post has learned.

The clandestine mission, which has not been reported previously, was carried out unbeknownst to journalists and some White House staff members who believed they were on the same plane as the president, according to material reviewed by The Post, a U.S. official familiar with the operation and another person with knowledge of the president’s travel. These people spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the matter.

The administration has claimed that Trump departed Turkey on July 8 on the former Air Force One. Trump announced on social media that he would use the “former Air Force One” rather than the plane that flew him there, a newer Boeing 747-8 gifted to the United States by Qatar. The security of the Qatar-provided aircraft has been called into question, and Trump said last month after the trip that it would undergo additional upgrades.

In Ankara, Trump boarded the old Air Force One jumbo jet in view of television cameras. He was secretly shuttled minutes later to a smaller plane — an Air Force C-32A — via an airport catering truck typically used to load meals and other supplies preflight, according to the U.S. official and corroborating material reviewed by The Post. That made Air Force One a “decoy” with media and some White House staff aboard, the official said.

There are an awful lot of Democrats out there whining about how A. no one else on the plane was told about the threat, and B. a catering truck??!!

Oh. The. Horror. Obama bro Tommy Vietor is throwing quite the fit over this.

He would’ve been throwing a freaking PARADE for the Secret Service if this had happened while Obama was President!

Democrats and media are all spinning this as if President Trump is a coward for using a catering truck as cover. They are blatantly ignoring that there was a very REAL assassination threat from Iran against President Trump. Keeping a major world leader safe is TOTALLY the point here.

And, like it or not, the staffers and media on Air Force One were NOT the priority in this case.

Exactly! Which brings me to Jake Tapper’s snit fit. According to him, President Trump should’ve just stayed on the plane instead of letting Jake’s media besties become targets.

Keep in mind, Iran has been issuing threats against President Trump and his family for years now. Furthermore, it’s highly likely Iran is behind the recent cyber attacks.

Unknown hackers compromised the water and wastewater systems of municipalities in at least 12 states last month, prompting water shut-offs, flooding and boil-water notices in a handful of locations. Cybersecurity experts think Iran is most likely behind the breaches. And American water systems — which are overwhelmingly run by small, local agencies — are especially vulnerable to this type of attack. They have little in the way of IT support, and relatively few state or federal laws require them to take cybersecurity precautions.

It isn’t just utilities at risk, either. Over the past 10 years, Iranian hackers have also breached US targets ranging from satellite companies to political campaigns. And if the war continues to stretch on, some analysts believe the country’s hacks could grow more aggressive.

And guys? I’m on the side of not caring if we ever find out the details of how credible the threat was or not. The Secret Service thought there was a major threat and planned accordingly.

The fresh reporting raised new questions, including whether there was a specific threat to Trump’s life, rather than a vague concern involving the Iran conflict.

The White House has not denied the Washington Post’s account, which cited two sources, including at least one US official.

Trump himself has not commented on the dramatic episode.

The revelation generated an outpouring of surprise in Washington.

“If the [Washington Post] story about Trump switching planes to return home from Turkey is true, then kudos to the Secret Service, the Air Force and the [White House],” tweeted George W. Bush’s White House press secretary Ari Fleischer.

Ari would certainly know about plans and maneuvers like this given who he was working for and where he was on 9/11!

But good ole Jake just kept digging.

It’s never been done before, therefore I am BIG MAD and am demanding answers!

Keep in mind, Air Force One is one of the most hardened planes in the world with full communication and military weapons arrays on board. The poor little media guys left behind weren’t quite the sitting ducks that Jake wants us to think they were.

Pretty much. Jake Tapper and the rest of the media can take their little tantrum and shove it.
